Rest for Bruno,Pogba, Rashford, Martial, Maguire. This tie is won.

With the squad rested and CL qualification confirmed, we should go for it. We have every chance of winning this.

Hope we don't have to play Wolves on the semis.

We have 11 days' rest till this game. Then 5 days' rest till the next game.

I know the temptation is to play the reserves. But if we did that, the first XI would be without competitive football for 16 days. That's too long, and could hurt our match sharpness.

As much as I'd love to see a team full of kids, I think playing a majority of the first team is the only way to go.

We need to think about next season as well. Put first-teamers on the bench for this game and play them for the last 3 games.

They need the rest because if we want to win this competition and also not burn out next season we need to be smart about resting them when we can. This is the only opportunity we've got to rest players.

New season 12th September. Think we have shown fatigue this year? Seen nothing yet. Next year is going to be brutal.

Play the kids. We've already got CL football.
Why not always play the kids? Save all the money we would ever spend on the wages of senior pros. Let’s just sack competitive football off altogether and become the Harlem Globetrotters of youth football.

feck is wrong with some of you people? Next season as soon as a 100 point season is no longer on, we should just rest people for 2021-22.

2 weeks off now. Then Europa League. Then probably 2 weeks off then pre season friendlies before a 12th Sept start.

Do the maths. These players will be knackered comes next May without a full break. When I say play the kids I'm obviously being OTT. However I think we should rest 5 or 6 of our big guns for the new season.

Don't agree? That's fine. Football is about opinions. I'm worried about that short turn around.

Play the kids. Hell play the 3rd string. Our first XI need a break before the new season, which'll start only 2 weeks after the EL. The EL's always good to blood younger players anyway, it's one unintentional benefits we've had from not being in the CL so often - players like Rashford, Williams etc got regular games in the EL. Spurs had similar with Kane. You can't know how good young players are until you've seen them play first XI football regularly.

People on here can't see further than the next game.

Of course winning the Europa is better than nothing but with the short turn around these same people will be going mental when we can't run next spring.

Do you even know what's going on in the next few weeks and when the season starts?

You'll be the one complaining when the players are walking around the pitch again

I’m just sick of all you short termists. Ole needs to sack off 2020-21 and give the lads 12 months off for 2021-22. Just play Laird, Mejbri and Tuanzebe (in a wheelchair if not fit) next year and fill the gaps in with the women’s team. Maguire and Bruno are clearly spent and can’t play two seasons in a row.

You’re the one thinking short term.

It’s more important to start next year fresh so we can actually compete properly instead of falling apart by January.

If we play everybody for the full EL tournament then they’ll take about 1 weeks rest, there won’t be a winter break this year either.

Usually in a normal season where they’ll get plenty of rest then great go for everything, but this isn’t a normal season and there will be even less rest days next year due to the euros!

Winning the Europa league really means sod all now we have got the CL.

No. Winning the Europa League or any other trophy is why I watch every minute of United and traipse up to Old Trafford in sun, rain or snow every other week.

It’s peak internet fan culture to have people opining on how the players’ workload is going to effect the 2020-21 season when the fecking 2019-20 season isn’t even finished. Stop wishing the players’ careers away. The worst aspect of modern football is the fetishisation of securing CL football and it being to the detriment of everything else.

I’ll gladly trade a slow start to next season for a European trophy and a shot at a second. Thankfully it doesn’t have to be an either-or situation though.

That’s great, so we can take 2 steps backwards and end up in 6th again next year.

No thanks, I’ll take a decent rest for the players to carry on another strong season and cement ourselves as a top 3 team.

With a few good additions in the summer we have a better chance of actually winning trophies and not stretching the squad too far.

Ok Ole make sure none of today's starting 11 plays a second of this match.
Some of them will get some game time to make sure they are sharp for the games that surely will follow. Pogba would benefit from 60 minutes or so further forward. Greenwood too up front. One of Maguire or Lindelöf will surely have to play too.

Guys like Bruno, Rashford and Martial will all get 30 or less minutes just to tune them up.

The QF draw is kind, with sides who’d struggle to stay in the Prem, so I think you want to rotate a little in that round, as winning the tournament will only be helped by having players fresher for the semi and final when there’s some decent teams. I think you pick your side for Lask with the next round in mind, and try not to get anyone playing much more than 120 mins across the two games.

They've had plenty of rest during the lockdown for feck's sake. Yeah it's been intensive post lockdown but we have a young squad. They'll be ok.

Can't wait for the Europa now. I actually think we're more likely to win it now that CL qualification doesn't hinge on it. We can just relax and play our game. Won't be too nervy.

Give fringe players a go for this one. Pereira, Lingard, Chong, McT, Fred, Dalot. All that lot. Give our main players the best rest possible.

That’s not the point. Everybody else apart from wolves will be resting and recharging the batteries and then getting a proper pre season.

You’d be happy for us to just go straight into the season with no fitness work?

This. Time to give our whole starting eleven 15 days without a game. Could even make it three weeks pre-season holiday and trust in our squad to beat Istanbul/Copenhagen.

This, a million times this. Players that we want to move should not get minutes instead of the kids.

So hopefully, no Mata, Pereira and Lingard.

That's what happens when you're in the Europa League. The same applies to City and Chelsea in the Champions League though they could possibly get knocked out in the next round. Teams in the top competitions will play more games.

You can't be screaming for European football then moaning about the consequences. Make your mind up. It was an unconventional season this year and we'll just have to go with it. Stop whining.

Wolves did it last season when they started their Europa League campaign last July. You don't hear them whinging about it and they have a smaller squad and have played more games,

Give those who will start in the QF a week off start a massively rotated team for this one.

Not sure if some of the u23s are eligible for this but I would have little problem giving a few some mins off the bench.

It's 5-0 and if we get 1 they need 6 to send us out.

Mental that some people expect our guys who are clearly already visibly tired, and just played 2 matches a week for 6 weeks straight, be totally fine with getting maybe one week off before the start of next season.

Sad reality is we have CL in our hands and yes winning a trophy is important but so is not having a wobble and being out of the title race by Nov like we have been the last 5+ years.

I'd rest the entire 18 we expect for the QF for 10 days. Play 19-30 of the squad in this one as it's almost impossible for us to go out unless we lose 1-6.

Knowing Ole, he’ll probably play Bruno for the full 90

Just give the squad players a runout. Rest the whole starting 11. Might only start DDG, I don’t think he is going anywhere next season, so might as well play him and build up his confidence.
