Hope we absolutely smash them, seen their fans giving it the big 'un already across the socials after beating fecking Newcastle. We are going to get space on the break, Bielsa is uncompromising in surrendering the midfield completely when the other team is in transition and just marking runners. I'll be disappointed if Rashford doesn't get a few. If we drop points it will almost certainly because we don't match their energy from the start/make mistakes under their high press.

Leeds are also awful at defending set pieces, maybe even worse than us if that's possible.

Would possibly go to the diamond again as I want to play Fred and McTominay again but neither is the most technical under pressure. Pogba certainly deserves to play based off today but it would be suicidal with the way Leeds would swarm him, so I'd put VDB in for a start despite his awful cameo against Sheffield.

    -----------DDG
    AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Shaw
    ---------McTominay
    Fred--------------------VDB
    ------------Bruno
    --Rashford---Martial

Hope Cavani is back for this one, at least on the bench.

Let’s not play one of our best and creative players because they would swarm him . We should probably leave Bruno off too

This could be a cracker of a game. Leeds could play right into our hands if they are not smart. Similarly we could play into their hands if we ball hog too much. I would take any win.

This could be the classic ‘raise their game’ against us type performance from Leeds.

it’s painful to say, but when I have seen them, they have been good to watch, but ultimately they have lost more games than they have won.

He has a point though. I mean they'll press him like crazy and Pogba tends to lose ball in cheap positions, which might be a big problem in this game.

But I think he'll still start.

    Massive game.
    Leicester play Spurs
    Southampton play City
    Arsenal play Everton
    Chelsea play West Ham

There is literally no bad result for us in any of the matches, maybe an Everton win is not the best since Arsenal are irrelevant anyway. Win this and win our game in hand and we can find ourselves at the top.

Fred should be good to start this one. McTominay will likely be back as well. Expect De Gea and Shaw to replace Henderson and Telles.

Bruno, Martial and Rashford definitely starts in attack, so I guess it's between Greenwood and Pogba to complete the XI.
    Think you have nailed it.

    Hendo, Telles Greenwood, Matic out

    DDG, Shaw, Mctomminay, Fred IN

4231 with Pogba to the left Rashford to the right.

think this will be it. Although does that mean we have McT/ Bruno on the right?

Greenwood on the bench is no bad thing if Cavani is not fit.

No, it's because despite how brilliant he is, he has the penchant for holding onto the ball too long and getting it taken off him by two people deep in our own half. I love Pogba as a player and it's by far his most harmful trait, happens 3 times a game minimum when he plays deep. He also has the ability to get out of those situations sometimes due to his unique combo of strength and close control, and when he does it opens things up massively for us like we saw with our third goal today.

Leeds will literally swarm 5 bodies around our midfielders and defenders to win the ball, they don't care about getting caught out. I don't think we're going to need amazing creativity to beat them, this isn't some lower table shithouse team that'll park 10 men in the box, but they're going to get inevitably caught out several times because of the way they mark in transition. I just don't think it's the right game for Pogba, sorry if you think that's a stupid opinion.

It's here Leeds......I'm feeling old now. So let me explain.

Leeds is our No.1 Rival. End of!

Forget about Liverpool. Forget about Man City.

This is our number one game. We knew this the day they got promoted to the premiership. Last season when they was touching to get to promotion, most of us was like 'oh heck...here we go again'.

The history between us goes well back. If you have ever been to a home game at Old Trafford you may have heard a few Leeds chants even when playing Man City. Certainly though being at an away game you would have heard 'Leeds Scum' and and other banter. I still can not get over the fact we got Eric and Alan Smith from Leeds. Anyway I'll keep it short. I can go on....and on ...and on. We must win this match. United v Man City is not the Derby so to speak. This is for a lot of us. It's old history. Some of you will know what I'm saying. Hopefully. On that bote and rant over :smirk: Lets smash the shit out of them

You could say the same about Matic and a few others who are prone to losing possession.
Anyway you start your best players whether he’s alongside Fred or maybe on the left wing , push Rashy right and give Greenwood a rest

I have a feeling we'll be well up for this. Leeds have goals in them, but the pace in our attacking players and the speed in which we can progress the ball, we should really, really beat them. How many of their lads are from leeds?

Yes, it's extremely true of Matic as well although with him it's also due to his complete lack of speed. That's why neither of them are in my ideal starting lineup. Obviously we disagree on Pogba so no use debating it more.

I have a bad feeling about this one. They press really, really hard and we don't do well against pressing.

We should start Martial, Rashford and Greenwood and play `bruno and `Pogba with `Fred as the DM. Let the full backs stay back so as not to let them exploit any space. `our three forwards and ``bruno and Pogba is good enough to create and score against any team.

It will probably be 442 diamond the same as the one against city line up except it’s likely martial not Greenwood.

Be so much more exciting. The elderly members of this forum would be swearing this was the biggest rivalry after Liverpool. Some moderately younger ones would only put Arsenal in front of that.

    It's a shame. It would've been a fun one.

Will be a GREAT match. There’s no 2 ways about it. Bielsa does not defend. He will force us to attack.

Also have a look at the points table. We win our game in hand, we are two points from the top. Not a bad place to be for a “terrible” season.

Can see us scoring a few here. Also we're generally not the worst at defending from open play, its set pieces that kill us and they aren't a set piece specialist team. Seems set up for a win for us. Think we do this.

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Bruno Pogba
    Rashford Martial

Key battle is between AWB and Harrison. Lock that player and we will win.

Quite worried about Bamford vs Lindelof.

Wow, United v Leeds. I can’t wait. Goals galore, I hope we win but I’ve a feeling it’s got something like 2-2 written all over it

Worried for AWB being pressed. It's no longer a secret that he's our weakest player on the ball and Leeds are a pressing machine. We need to be slick on the ball in defence and midfield that there will be plenty of opportunities.

Jack Harrison is on form. Quite explosive and aggressive from I've seen of him.

Like I said, we still have to rely on AWB to shut him up. That's the key in this game.

He just had a quite decent game but he's not really on form (consider myself to be a Harrison expert as he's in my fantasy team and I watch Leeds every week hoping he does something).

Famous last words but his matchup with AWB is not one I'm extremely worried about. He's a one-dimensional fast winger with good delivery who always goes outside on his left foot. As long as AWB remembers how to actually block a cross, which after the Leipzig game could be in doubt to be fair, we should be fine in that sense. Really more worried about Bamford against Lindelof in the air, or how we'll limit Rodrigo picking up the ball in pockets of space behind our midfield.

Yeah I'm worried about Bamford's movement, he is quite dangerous in getting at the end of attacks. Some pundits said Bamford is genuinely so good off the ball, perhaps one of the best in the league. Aerial battles is one thing, but one glaring weakness is Lindeloff and Maguire questionable marking lately.

Maybe Bamford might attract AWB, (AWB tends to cover for Lindelof). Quite worried.

Pogba plays better on right of centre, while Rash's best work comes from the left. Why change it?

With all this hype, its probably going to be a 0-0.
With this Leeds side? Nope. They will go for it. Bielsa knows no other way but they are open to set pieces and they do tire. If Phillips starts to flag in any way then they look a different team.
