Ideally we have one presser (McT/Fred) and one playmaker (Pogba/DvB).

It’s not realistic to expect Pogba to play the left wing long term. That means Sancho, Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, James, Amad and whoever else are competing for one position on the right wing. Long-term we seem to be setting up for a front three of Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho with Bruno in behind as a #10.

What I’m trying to say is that we have too many talented wide forwards to only play one of them at a time. Playing two limited, defensive-minded players in midfield forces us to play our best midfielder out of position and keeps another one of our skillful attackers out of the side.
Big misconception that Van der Beek is a playmaker. He isn’t and never will be. He was never the playmaker at Ajax too.

    • Manchester United won their opening Premier League game of a season for the 20th time, the first club to hit that milestone in the competition's history.
    • Leeds have conceded 5+ goals in each of their last two away games against Manchester United in all competitions (also 2-6 in the league last season), as many times as in any of their previous 50 on the road against the Red Devils.
    • Manchester United netted five goals in their opening game of a Premier League game for only the second time, after beating Fulham 5-1 in August 2006, while Leeds shipped five in a Premier League opener for the first time ever.
    • Since his competition debut in February 2020, Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been directly involved in 48 Premier League goals (29 goals, 19 assists), four more than any other player in this time.
    • Man Utd's Paul Pogba became the seventh player in Premier League history to assist four goals in a single game in the competition, after Dennis Bergkamp, José Antonio Reyes, Cesc Fàbregas, Emmanuel Adebayor, Santi Cazorla and Harry Kane.
    • Mason Greenwood is the outright fifth-highest scoring teenager in Premier League history, with his haul of 18 goals in the competition as a teen bettered only by Michael Owen (40), Robbie Fowler (35), Wayne Rooney (30) and Nicolas Anelka (19).
    • Bruno Fernandes' hat-trick for Manchester United was the 10th scored on the opening weekend in Premier League history, with Leeds the first club to concede two such trebles in the competition (also via Mo Salah last season).
    • Bruno Fernandes became the first Manchester United player to score a hat-trick on the opening day of a league season since Lou Macari vs Birmingham in 1977-78.

Was mega nervous today but the lads were incredible. We looked sharp vs Everton but we matches the fitness mentalist Leeds and then some. Pogba and Fernandes outrageous but was so happy with Greenwood performance.

I wish Greenwood scores. I want him to score more than 15 league goals this year and really kick on as a nailed-on starter.
Good start with a crucial end extremely well taken goal.

Nobody dismisses his ability. We questioned his attitude and lets be honest periods of dismal form
Nobody ever questioned his ability. Stop making up things.
Nobody has ever questioned his ability. He's been great today, but let's not rewrite history and pretend he's been outstanding in every game.
You sure you want to make these claims lads.

I’m out at the moment but I’d advise you read some pages in this thread & retract your nonsense.

‘No one has questioned his ability’

Protecting the scum from the few of theres who sang Munich chants. Absolute pricks.
In fairness it was because a Turkish flag was dropped into the away fans. Light blue touch paper and run. Scott McT improves every game. I honestly can’t see why people critIcise him so much. Poor Dan James put in a shift but tried too hard I reckon, could have had a couple himself. Can wait for Cavani and Varane to appear. Need Spurs to beat the Bitters tomorrow to make it a great weekend.

Not by doing a stupid fecking step over like that, no.
It’s the step over that created the chance. If he hit it first time, the keeper had it well covered. He did fluff it though no doubt but 4 assists makes up for it!

brilliant atmosphere you could hear it coming across the television especially when Mason scored right after Leeds tied it and were having a go at the United supporters....place erupted in noise and stayed that way for the next 10 minutes when united got up 3-1

Poor Donny....5-1 and you still can't get off the bench

James made pogba miss that chance did he? What about greenwoods weak shot, or pogbas weak effort?
Aah, he's responsible for Maguire's inability to hit the target from corners.
    That's gotta be it.
Then Pogba finishes with 4 assists and Greenwood scores a fantastic goal, whilst james continued to balls up any attacking move he was involved with...Overhit crosses, weak shots and bad decisions, often a combination of 2 of them. Every player has moments they should do better, James has them moments nearly every time he's got the chance to do something positive. We played excellent yesterday, Dan James was out of his depth.

This has absolutely nothing to do with what you said. You claimed that united would've been further ahead if not for James. Which was complete Bollox.
    And still is.
He's a squad player doing the job he's been asked to do. You could argue that without him making runs and stretching the Leeds defence, maybe greenwood wouldn't have been so free to score the second.

The instant reply to the equalizer was a massive statement, in recent years we would have struggled to get the win, not this term . So far so good looked on it from ko. Great win. Greenwood is maturing into a man now. Great display from all

I claimed we would of 'Probably' been another goal or 2 up, which is a reasonable assessment of James first half performance and the amount of good opportunitys he ballsed up, which was every one he was involved with.

Whats bollox is you watching that first half and not not having the knowledge of the game to see how many very good situations James cost us and then backing it up with not having the footballing intelligence to see how my post has everything to do with what i said...James got it wrong every time in that first half, the other players you mentioned didnt...I never expect a player to get it right every time, but they should get it right sometimes.

Yeah, Greenwoods goal was all about Dan James, talk about complete bollox pmsl...Theres probably only you and James on the planet who'd argue that.

Wow. Just wow. I feel nothing but pity for you, being so bitter must be painful.
Well thats an anti climax, thought you were going to contribute somthing useful...Do like the overly dramatic tone though.

Im far from bitter, happy with the team performance, as iv already stated, thought we were excellent, but thought James was and is shite. You Couldn't accept my opinion of James and here we are...thats on you.
