    Leeds United Football Club (commonly known as just Leeds, and nicknamed The Whites and The Peacocks) is an English professional football club based in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire. Leeds United's predecessor club, Leeds City F.C., was formed in 1904, but was forcibly disbanded by The Football League in 1919 in response to allegations of financial irregularities regarding illegal payments to players during the First World War.Shortly after the disbanding of Leeds City a new club, Leeds United, was formed on 17 October 1919, under the management of former player Dick Ray. They began playing in the Midland League, taking the place vacated by Leeds City's reserve team. Yorkshire Amateurs, who occupied Elland Road, offered to make way for the new team.

    In March 1961, the club appointed former player Don Revie as manager, following the resignation of Jack Taylor. His stewardship began in adverse circumstances andonly a win in the final game of the season saved the club from relegation to Division Three. Revie implemented a youth policy and a change of kit color to an all-white strip in the style of Real Madrid, and Leeds won promotion to the First Division in 1963–64. Subsequently, however, they emerged as a major force in English football, winning 2 First Division titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

    Their second noteworthy spell began in the late 80s with the appointment of Howard Wilkinson. In 1989, the signing of Gordon Strachan from Manchester United for £300,000 proved to be a turning point. The Scottish midfielder was named captain, and helped Leeds win the Second Division in 1989–90 and gain promotion back to the First Division. Under Wilkinson Leeds finished fourth in 1990–91, and in the 1991–92 season they won the title of the last Division 1 as top tier. Ironically, the sale of Eric Cantona to Manchester United proved to be a turning point for his new club in a reversal of fortunes, and Leeds never won a league title again through the Premier League era.

    Leeds United have rivalries with several clubs, including local rivalries with Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Bradford City and Huddersfield Town, and national rivalries with Manchester United (arguably the strongest of them all), Chelsea and Millwall. Alex Ferguson spoke on the rivalry between Leeds United and Manchester United stating that playing against Leeds was a "frightening experience... I have always said Liverpool versus Manchester United games are fierce in many aspects. Sometimes supporters can play a bad part in that particular game. But it never reaches the levels of Leeds United. Never." Leeds play their home games at Elland Road.

    Hopefully we can get a couple of players back in the long break. Martinez has been a miss and it'd be nice to have Dorgu as an option on the left again, the benches haven't had much meat to them for a while.
     
    Who thought scheduling the FA Cup and an international break back to back would be a good idea..

    fecking disgusting that not only do we have to wait three fecking weeks for this, but it’s on a Monday, and it’s not even our last Monday kickoff of the season.

    Anyway, tough game. Hoping to beat these cnuts, but predicting a 2-2 draw.

    With Maguire out we could really use Martinez as i’m not sure about a Yoro Heaven back 4 partnership….
     
    How on earth has this been allowed to be played at 8pm on a Monday night, surely the police will have had major concerns about this
     
    It’s bad we will need to wait 3 weeks for this game, too much without football. That said, it’s impossible to say what happens over this time period, but hopefully we won’t have any injury in international games and have some currently injured guys back
     
    They're not in good form. They're poor away from home. I fancy us here.

    Only concern is that our players will have aged considerably by the time the match comes around.

    Attended that game, my main memory was the fine winner by Butt with about 10 minutes to play and opening goal for Leeds from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink when a Leeds fan two rows in front of me in the south stand who couldn't contain his excitement and was escorted swiftly out of the ground.

    Well given that its Chelsea away after Leeds - safe bet might even be downplaying it. Wed be at least 10 ahead of Chelsea with 5 games left.

    4 points from the next 2 pretty much does it. A draw at Chelsea likely kills them given they have City home first.

    Im never optimistic about Chelsea away though....

    Ireland will have qualified for the World Cup?
     
    Will be annoying to face DCL without a CB who's strong in the air. Might just need to step off of him and try to win the second ball instead.
     
    Is this the only game Maguire is suspended for or is it a few more?

    Hopefully Martinez is back though. De Ligt too but sort of given up on if he will play again this season.
     
    I despise 8pm kick offs for league games.

    United really are a cash cow for the PL. Such a shame this isn’t just super Sunday game, instead we’re going to get MNF and another Carrick review when we don’t want to see it again…

    To be fair, Celtic have played Rangers in midweek evening games, it doesn't happen often but when it has happened, there has been no trouble. That said, the rise in cocaine abuse in society in general has gone to a worryingly high level in recent years so if Celtic were to play Rangers now at night, there is more likely to be trouble.

    Not to humble brag but, im going on holiday Thu for 10 days then the game STILL doesnt occur unti Ive been back to work for 1 day. :lol: We've done that hol slot a few times and United are always playing. Its mind blowing.

    This is the fall out if being atrocious at cup competitions during the past 12 months. Plus the cherry on top of the cake it being the Monday night game. The players will need a pre season friendly before this one!
