Leicester City Football Club (nicknamed The Foxes, The Blues, City, and Blue Army), are a professional football club based in Leicester. Leicester City was founded in 1884 by a group of old boys of Wyggeston School as Leicester Fosse, before joining the Football Association in 1890. In 1919, when League football resumed after World War I, Leicester Fosse ceased trading due to financial difficulties of which little is known. The club was reformed as Leicester City Football Club, particularly appropriate as the borough of Leicester had recently been given city status.

Leicester City have enjoyed moderate success through the years - winning 3 League Cups, and reaching the final of the FA Cup 4 times - prior to their odds-defying Premier League title win in 2015/16. Leicester City's most prominent rivals are Nottingham Forest, Coventry City and Derby County, and they have been playing their home games at The King Power Stadium (originally named Filbert Way) since 2002.

    De Gea

    Darmian Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    Pereira
    Herrera Fred
    Mata Sanchez Rashford

Bench: Grant, Alderweireld, Young, Pogba, Martial, Lukaku, Lingard

3-1 win. Not sure bench will have so many players without a pre-season but should be enough to get the 3 points. 50/50 on whether Bailly's partner will be Lindelof or Smalling. Smalling was preferred all last season but Lindelof started v Bayern. Not sure whether that was mainly to get some match fitness or whether it is because that is his planned side v Leicester.

Easy win, after which certain lunatics will come out and start having a go at those who had any issues with our pre season games etc.

How we could do with a good performance, a happy Pogba on the bench and attacking football. 4-1. Sanchez with two, Rashford and a debut Fred strike.

    Hope you are correct.

Darmian and Mata on the same side is not very productive but your lineup will be the one we field.
Want to see this (but will never happen):
    Pereira
    Herrera Fred
    Sanchez Martial Rashford

Forgot all about Pogba. We really do have a lot of options.

Matic, Fred, Pogba, Fellaini, Herrera, Pereira, McTominay midfielders
Lukaku, Sanchez, Lingard, Rashford, Martial, Mata as the attackers isn't terrible.

Fullback is the main position I have issue with but think that applies for most of us. Having fullbacks who are natural players there and know how to contribute in attack could be massive for us.

All season we're going to moan about the fullback situation, so infuriatingly predictable and could have been easily solved over the last few years!

Given both the world cup and the lack of signings this could be a nightmare.

Sanchez to get on the scoresheet.
I hope he does, anything to raise his confidende will be a big boost to us, we need Alexis to show up this season and hopefully he has a great season ahead of him.

    Optimistic -

Darmian and Shaw lock down Leicester's flanks.
Martial starts on the left and scores a goal from a Pereira through ball.
Sanchez scores a brace and MoM.
    We win 3-0.

    Pessimistic -

We win 1-0 scoring from our only shot and Maguire gets MoM resulting in us doubling our supposed bid.

Yep, borderline neglect not strengthening the fullback areas. Don't know what it is with our club and neglecting such obvious flaws in our teams for years. SAF and our CM options come to mind too. Everyone and their dog can see a shite Shaw and an extremely injury prone veteran aren't the answer going forward.

Would take either outcome, although I think even Ed would know better not to make a £100m bid on Maguire with the transfer window closed!

Assuming it'll be an easy comfortable win, are the people who made this place fecking unbearable over a few pre-season games also lunatics, by the way?

You even have Toby on the bench

I mostly agree with the line up, though I expect Smalling to start ahead of Lindelof. The rest of the team is very short in the absence of Pogba, Matic and Lukaku, it'll need some height. Smalling is better suited to a) man-mark Maguire on corners and b) deal with the pace of Vardy. Bailly to be on the front foot and Smalling to cover.

The rest of the team picks itself since there's so many players unavailable.

Leicester kicked off last season in a thrilling 4-3 defeat away to Arsenal.

This game will be the antithesis of that.

    1-0 (Sanchez) or 0-0

It was unbearable only for those who couldnt take it because all issues people had with pre season as whole was seen as attack on JM by those people. I wasnt bothered by extreme moaning lunatics nor with people who had valid issues with our pre season.

Same goes with people on other side, cult lunatics having a go at anyone who expressed their issue with our pre season, same folk going all ape shit on Martial, turning him into enemy because he was being used as beating stick for JM.

It was unbearable for me because the usual light heartedness that this forum is known for (or at least, was?) was drowned out by constant negativity everywhere.

I agreed with some of the posts and I could see why our play would frustrate fans but seeing the same shite repeated over and over, in every fecking thread (even threads not created for that specific discussion), sucking all the fun and lightheartedness this place usually promotes gets tedious.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For my own sanity I'm praying for a win. Can't start the weekend with a lose on the opening day of the season. In saying that, I can't see a win at the moment. There's such a bad vibe around the club.

I expect Leicester to press our midfield, causing all sorts of problems.

Just read a Leicester forum, they are not confident with Maguire and Evans potentially missing the game. Although, with Pogba and Lukaku missing for us, we do lack two key players for our attacking game.

Literally do not care how I just hope we win. A scabby 1-0 in last minute will do me just fine in this game. Hopefully can then start building in some of the other players who were late coming back and improve as we roll on.
