Rafateria wasn't being cocky about a draw.... he was replying to your (extremely cocky) comments about what United would do against Liverpool, and saying what he thought your comments were, which most people thought ....

    .... embarrassing.

Supporting United is great, coming out with ridiculous comments and expecting him not to respond is embarrassing. Take it on the chin and focus on the money you (allegedly) lost.
Cheers. I'm pleased that my motives were obvious to some. If you dish it out then you've got to be able to take it ... as I do frequently on RedCafe as you would expect :D

I think that as UTD fans we have a duty and obligation to adopt an attitude of hostile cynicism towards Liverpool. Reports suggest that their traveling fans were making Munich chants as they got off the traveling supporters bus. They are horrible, insufferable and just really unpleasant. We should have won this game today. If we had taken our chances better it could easily have been 3-0, such was the gap in quality and chances created.

Nonetheless I hope we get to play them again, at Wembley, this season. It would be nice to settle this argument once and for all, after two draws, that Jose's UTD is better than Klopp's Liverpool. And for Jose to (once again) deny them a trophy.
It NEVER looked like 3-0... they had a plan, they played ok, 2-3 of our key players were poor and possession was expected given we were at home. On another day, we'd have lost.... on another day we may have scraped a win. Support is great, bias understandable, being myopic is silly.

Being pro-United and/or anti-Liverpool doesn't mean you make ridiculous statements.

A handful of stupid fans doesn't mean all Liverpool fans should be treated with disdain... be the better person (and I've heard/seen United fans say/do stuff that's unacceptable... some of the away games 70's/80's were GRIM).

Why hello @duffer nice of you to drop in. I'm not sure what a UTD / Liverpool game has to do with you, but how is your amazing manager going to fare playing half a season with no dedicated striker? You expect to challenge for the title with no #9?

(In case you're wondering about the relevance of this - remember that Conte is directly responsible for this predicament you find yourselves in)
I don't accept the premise of your question. We won't be playing for half a season without a dedicated striker. Costa will be playing or he will be replaced. If it takes a couple of weeks before Costa & Conte kiss and make up then Costa will miss the home games against Hull and Brentford.

With or without Costa we are my heavy, heavy favourites for the title.

Who do you think will win the league?

Agreed, stop embarrassing yourself and us. We were right to be confident before kick off but we didn't really perform today and I'm happy to have stopped them winning. It might end both our title hopes but I'd take it if it means José can build on this for next season and actually compete for the league

I think that Spurs have emerged as strong contenders. I'm impressed with the work of Pochettino. A lot of people overlook the fact that he finished second last season.

I believe that Chelsea are still favourites but if you sell Costa and have to play with an inferior striker (not many top strikers available in January) or even worse, no striker at all, then Spurs could win it.

I don't think you can carry on fielding Hazard / Pedro / Willian upfront. The lack of physical presence and aerial ability will hurt you. This is not La Liga where teams play tippy-tappy football.

And another possibility is that Costa stays but sulks, and is relegated to the reserves, thus causing problems with your team morale.

Arsenal finished 2nd last season, not Pochettino:rolleyes:

Oh Jose will compete for the league next season all right. His second seasons are always strong and correct me if I'm wrong, have also always resulted in winning the title.

It's not only about stopping Liverpool. I wanted us to send a message. I hope we play them in the cup final at Wembley. That will be an even louder message.

They finished third last season. In a two-horse race they managed to finish third. Poch has done a great job but they are and always will be Spurs.

Of course without a fit and firing Costa our chances won't be as good but I am pretty confidant that Costa will start against Liverpool in a few weeks. Conte has not thrown him under the bus in interviews and Costa has not publically burned his bridges.

Is it logical to keep a player (and play him in a big game) when his head isn't right and he wants to leave?

Depends how good the player is and how professional he is. De Gea wanted to leave you lot for ages and was still your best player.

Again, I don't accept the idea that that we'll be stuck with a grumpy and disruptive Costa for the rest of the season. It'll be sorted one way or another. I personally think he'll end the season with a new contract and a league title winners medal.

I think we will compete next season too after José has more time and with adequate investment in the squad.

But I'm not sure what message we sent to anybody, we had 4 shots on goal in 180 minutes of football against a Liverpool side that aren't anywhere as good as the press or goals scored column makes them out to be.

I'm happy with the last few minutes but can't have any complaints about the officials, we were our own downfall today.

I'm not sure who you're trying to impress by supporting Liverpool against Southampton but of course I'd rather they didn't win, why would we want a better team in the final? Just so you can boast more on the internet?

While any trophy would of course be excellent, it would be more glorious and memorable if we won it by beating our most bitter rivals in front of a capacity crowd at Wembley.

Listen, I'm going to it whoever gets there, we've the hotel and travel booked, of course it would be a bigger spectacle against Liverpool but the priority is to get a trophy, if it's Southampton then all the better as we have failed to win any of the last three v Klopp's Liverpool.

José needs something to pick him up, even a league cup would give him some of the confidence back which would transfer to the players.

Reports also suggest that numerous times our supporters started chanting the horrible chant about the '96 scousers left dead on the floor'. I abhor those chants. We are not angels, so stop making it seem like we are.

Your blinkered and narrow-minded approach towards United infuriate me. I saw it on the Newbie section and it clearly hasn't changed. You refuse to listen to anything other than pro-united. In my eyes, that's immature, and also not healthy for any reasoned debate.

Sure, today we should have won, we created far more chances and Mignolet produced some outstanding saves. On the other hand, I'm delighted we didn't lose, I'll settle for a point, our unbeaten run continues. Move on. You continue to be a WUM towards everyone else who supports different teams, that's not what these threads are about.

Reasonably happy with the 1-1, we move on to Stoke.

It would be special but id rather have an easy ride against Southampton. Liverpool have our number in recent knockout cup games. Remember the Europa league? The last time we played them in a cup final- the league cup- they beat us too 2-0

Sure, but that was the past. Jose is our manager now and he has never lost a cup final in England, in fact I think he has never lost a cup final anywhere. He knows how to win finals.

the sense of occasion and prestige that comes with defeating Liverpool at Wembley is what will make the trophy more precious and memorable IMO. But of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
