For me the biggest thing today was how relentless we were in winning possession back, it was almost Bayern-esque the way our players would hunt the ball down after losing it. Brilliant. You can slowly see LVG's philosophy coming into place, quite exciting when you think about it really.

The only thing for me is our defence. de Gea surely can't be this incredible for too long and someone like Costa or Aguero would have easily put 3-4 past us IMO. Hopefully we get a CB partnership of Rojo and Jones (IMO our two best CB's) going after xmas and with Shaw and Rafael back fit too I think this would help to build some momentum and stability at the back.
Sorry chap... One guy scored once and other hid in his dog house when given chance to score 3-4.

EDIT: Btw De Gea can be this awesome week in week out.

This was a very sweet win and I'm personally going to treasure every second of it. How the cnuts have fallen after last season.

De Gea was my MOTM, followed by Valencia. I though that he was looking back to his best and made several crucial challenges defensively.

    Lemmy has forsaken us....
Great win SUPER DDG was amazing again. Thought this game was a bit too early for Wilson. Wondered if Jones was fit enough to play why wasn't Falcao?
A combination of a late Rojo injury, and possibly not wanting to throw McNair right back in at the deep end after a kick to his confidence.

I doubt Jones would have started had we a compliment of defenders.

Scousers need to buy a 'proper' striker in Jan....or when Sturridge is fit, give Lambert a chance alongside him (why did they buy him, not being used)

Well I'm definitely not as confident as some people are for sure. Liverpool still have a few good players and usually seem to up their game when they play us. Well have to play better than in the last two fixtures. It feels like poor and/or out of form defenders often suddenly remember how to play when they're playing united.
I get a horrible feeling about every game. I agree though, Gerrard's going to get 2 goals out of nowhere, Mignolet/Jones is going to have a De Gea-like goalkeeping performance and Kolo Toure will turn into Beckenbauer reincarnated.
It's great that we won, but damn we made hard work of it, third happy days but our comments defiantly showed we were not convincing, but a wins a win

Quite happy that I was way off the mark :D

The pessimism when lineups get announced goes too far really.

    De Gea is incredible.

Clinical going forward. lovely touch from LvG bringing McNair on, after Southampton. Will the pundits who had a go Monday give van Gaal credit?

On a serious note, I thought Herrera looked very assured when he come on. A classy performer I hope he stays with us for a long time.

He needs to start more games. Real quality in possession of the ball. The only other player that looked as reassured was Carrick and maybe Mata

Not likely they see a change of mind/opininon akin to being in the wrong.

Wilson's best attribute so far has been his dribbling which is something Hernandez has never had. In fact I'd say Wilson looks the best dribbler out of our current striking quartet. It's a very prominent quality of his that you're completely ignoring here.
I'll bow to what is presumably your knowledge of him from youth teams etc, but didn't see one dribble today.
Saw a lot of haring round and chasing lost causes, but if he's a dribbler I'd be delighted but surprised.

He is very much a dribbler. To be honest, when you give him good service he's very much... everything. Good dribbler, fast, fairly strong on the ball, good passer, hard worker, beats keepers one-on-one for fun, lethal finisher. I've not seen him score many headers because he's been playing with an obscenely talented group in the youth ranks who mostly keep the ball on the ground.

People who haven't watched much of him, be patient, if you can.

You'll have seen that when he actually gets on the ball for the first team, he's got quality and confidence. He got very little service today because he was waiting for balls in behind and we didn't end up playing that sort of game. But if LVG keeps giving him chances he'll start scoring goals sooner rather than later.

Start him with Herrera on the pitch instead of Fellaini and he will score goals. Wilson is the perfect striker for midfielders who like through-balls, and we all know how Herrera loves a nice through-ball.

Can we have the 36M contract for De gea??
Buy him whatever cars he wants.. Buy him a cake if he wants one..

If Perez comes snooping, tell him we want 100M + Bale for him..

    My thoughts on the game

    - Luck was against us last season and everything was meant to wrong for us. Thankfully this term it seems to be the opposite except for the ridicoulus event at Leicester with that ref.

    - De Gea: out of this world! Best keeper in the world right now, at least the one with the best form. Just incredible! Offer him whatever is necessary to keep him!

    - Carrick seems to be made for that role in a 3 man defense. Such an intelligent player and a mojor reason for our current run!

    - Fellaini was so shit in the first half that I had taken him off but at least in defense he recoverd in the 2nd. Broke down a lot of attacks.

    - we are doing a hell lot of mistakes, slapstick at times. We have to earse that from our game because others won't be as dumb as Loserpool and would punish us. We can't always rely on the clinical finishing of our strikers who in the last games had a conversion rate of 50%.

We're winning games by De Ge being fantastic and our forwards being clinical, we know there are still problems defensively and with a proper striker, Liverpool probably would've scored but the team's mentality has completely changed under LVG.

The likes of Fellaini, Valencia and Van Persie are looking like the players they were before again.

Fro, the post-match interview. "We had lots of space in the second half, but we still gave the ball away. I shall ask the players tomorrow "why?".
That was the key message for me. LvG wants to improve our off the ball movement. With Blind, Rafael, Shaw and ADM back in the team, I expect us to play much more fluid football.
