let’s be objective here...this ain’t a game for Ronaldo. We are going to have less of the ball. Just like Leicester and Atalanta...if we don’t press Liverpool will settle immediately, breeze into their stride and their back line will hog the ball high up the pitch. We need to unsettle them and As much as we are bad at pressing, it’s simply impossible with Ronaldo playing.

In possession, we will need the ball to stick up top to relieve pressure. That’s isn’t Ronaldo’s game either and he has been really sloppy in possession so far. Our main weapon is counter attacking at pace. Rashford and Greenwood are essential to keep Pool worried.

I’d go for a Diamond and keep Cavani and Ronaldo for when we need a lifeline.

    De Gea
    Bissaka Lindelof Maguir Shaw
    Fred
    McT. Pog
    Mason. Bruno. Rashford
I agree with you completely, other than I'd go for Sancho over Greenwood (he's much better at pressing and brilliant on the counter). But we're probably resigned to seeing Ronaldo in the starting team and making us worse off as a result.

I just would hate to see us stand off their back line and let them strut around Old Trafford...I have a real allergy to Liverpool which goes beyond hate and and makes me physically ill when I see them play well.

We know how to get a result against them...it would be mad to change that to accommodate Ronny. Bring him on with 25 minutes left when they are tiring and more likely to sit back...throw some balls in the box and let him do his thing.

Tomorrow's game has me really in a twist. We have been so abject in the last month that I can't justify any optimism for a win. This game is coming at the worst time for this squad ,(confidence and performance wise).

However, we have so much of a yo yo history under Ole that I keep hoping this is a turning point.

If Ole and the team can come out all guns blazing, and blitz Liverpool in the first half tomorrow - then I'll be super impressed!

Getting in the mood for tomorrow.

Just watched every goal v Liverpool at OT in the PL (on the app). Next is another viewing of...

The media took a while to load, so I was fully anticipating a GIF of Gerrard slipping. Not even against us and still gets me in the mood as much as many of our goals

Did McTominay really say that we're underdogs?

FFS. We're at home. Granted vs Liverpool but I don't want to see any of that kind of timidity before a game vs. Liverpool at home.
We are underdogs against whoever we play.
Ole sets us up to counter the opponent, rather than playing our own way (which is what big clubs do).
It sucks, but that's where we are now.

Easy partner...I’m not a fan of our football by any means but to say that we are underdogs against everyone is just silly stuff. We dominate the ball against 75% of teams I’d say...just cause we are shit at doing it doesn’t make us underdogs!

Losing to these is not an option. Aside from under Moyes, we haven’t lost to these in the PL in front of a packed OT since 2009. If our win rate at Anfield has been bad since, then theirs at our place has been even worse. Don’t let that change lads, if any of you are somehow reading this.

Anyway, team should be this tomorrow:

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Matic
    Bruno Fred
    Sancho Ronaldo Rashford

4-3-3 with Bruno the one with creative license and sitting on top of Fabinho, and Fred there to provide energy and follow Salah around Park on Pirlo style. Get the tactics right and I think we can do it. 3-1 United, with Rashford and Ronaldo plundering.

Even though we knew City and Chelsea would win today, seeing them actually post those points and sit 6/8 ahead of us drives home how important tomorrow is. We have to beat Liverpool, then we have to beat City and Chelsea. Even if we beat two and lose to the other, we've just handed an advantage to whoever we lose to over the other teams.

Also noticed that if we lose tomorrow then we have the same record that Jose had after 9 games in the season he got sacked - 4 wins, 2 draws, 3 defeats. Must win.

I’d take a draw right now as long as we play better than our general level this season.

If we lose tomorrow, we are on the same points as Arsenal, despite having an easier start.

And eight points off top though it might as well be nine with Chelsea’s goal difference.

It will take a miracle for us to defeat Liverpool, the best we can hope for is a draw and the spectacle of this match will be insufferable. The truth is, we do have the players, but we lack the management and style to compete with the Chelseas, the Liverpools, and the Man Citys. Ole is the one factor that is keeping us tied to the ground. They got the players they needed, but they are just players at the moment, and not close to being a team. In the 8 PL games they have played, they have won only two matches by more than 1 goal, and both of those were against bottom 4 clubs. In those 8 games they have played 0 teams currently seated higher than them in the table.

After the Leicester debacle, I predicted a win against Atalanta and a defeat to Liverpool (I said possibly a draw, as a best case scenario). But feck it, I'm just feeling 'it' right now, and I'm gonna say we're winning this 2-1 or 3-1.

Thinking Fred is injured. So tempted to start Sancho but can’t drop Greenwood. Damning on Pogba.

I must say, this is just the sort of game we rear up and win, allowing the manager to hang around just long enough to lose some more, before we rise up and win another game against a top squad, before we finish the season in the top 4 and with no silverware to show.

So a midfield of Henderson and Keita / Milner and Fabinho is now world class and we won’t get near any of them.

The closer it gets to the game, the more weirdly, irrationally, inexplicably, confident I get. We’re going to win. I can feel it.

Think we'll play two at the top (Ronaldo and Rashford). Bruno right and Pogba left, McFred in midfield, with the regular back 5, minus Varane.
This is probably our best lineup at the moment for a big game.

Ole cannot drop/rotate Ronaldo now, he will be under tremendous pressure if he does that now, and more so if we dont win after that. And unfortunately SAF had a big hand in that.

Christ I'm nervous about this now! I know we're not going to win the league, but to fall behind 8 points behind the leaders so early on into the season will be so disheartening!

I know the crowd will be so up for this, I just hope we can play well and get something. My suspicion is we will start well but then Liverpool will start dominating possession and eventually score first against our leaky defense. It's then how we respond from there that will ultimately decide the game.

I was dreading this match after the Leicester one, but the Atalanta second half showed me that this team still has pride in themselves.

What I don't want-CBs giving the ball away cheaply, FBs overcommitting to leave space, Non-existent marking on corners, DDG passing it straight into their midfielders. Hoof it long if you can't deal with it. No cheap goals, if Salah sticks one in from 30 yards then fair play.

What I want-Maximum effort and making good decisions on the counter. Matching Liverpool's workrate will be key to get anything out of this game. That's why I'd like Ronaldo dropped for Cavani. But it probably won't happen so Rashford and Mason will have to work extra hard. Same goes for Pogba and Bruno, they better be ready to run like hell. If Rashford is out, put Cavani in. It's damning on Sancho, but he hasn't showed a lot yet and this isn't the game to risk it.

Predicting a 2-1 win as I'll never predict United to lose. I'd take a well fought draw if it comes down to it, just show me a team that acts like a top team.

Being level with fecking Arsenal after a quarter of the season would be depressing, a side we’ve spent all season laughing at for how bad they are in the market and how stupid they are for not sacking their manager.
