Manchester City Football Club (nicknamed City, The Citizens, and The Sky Blues), are a professional football club based in Manchester, England. City were founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), before being renamed as Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887, and finally Manchester City in 1894 - and the origins can be traced back to members of St. Mark's Church of England, West Gorton — who founded the football club that would become known as Manchester City, for largely humanitarian purposes. Two church wardens sought to curb local gang violence and alcoholism by instituting new activities for local men, whilst high unemployment plagued East Manchester, specifically Gorton. All men were welcome to join, regardless of religion.

The team's first recorded match occurred on 13 November 1880, and City gained their first honors by winning the Second Division in 1899 — with it came promotion to the highest level in English football, the First Division. In the seasons following the FA Cup triumph of 1904, the club was dogged by allegations of financial irregularities, culminating in the suspension of seventeen players in 1904, including captain Billy Meredith, who subsequently moved across town to Manchester United. Almost half a century later later, a City team inspired by a tactical system known as the Revie Plan reached consecutive FA Cup finals again, in 1955 and 1956; just as in the 1930s, they lost the first one, to Newcastle United, and won the second. The club continued to challenge for honors throughout the 1970s, finishing one point behind the league champions on two occasions and reaching the final of the 1974 League Cup.

Prior to the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the club had enjoyed moderate levels of success through their history — however, since the start of the current decade, City have been buoyed by the signings of Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré, David Silva, Vincent Kompany — and have emerged as perpetual title contenders Vincent Kompany winning the league 5 times in 9 years and repeatedly finishing in the Top 3. City play their homes games at the Etihad Stadium, and their biggest rivals are neighbors and opponents for the game, Manchester United.

I haven’t seen any progress in this United team, nor any signs that we can even give City a game. I will be turning my phone off for a couple of days after the match. Ronaldo surely can keep getting us out of the shit can he?
Late fitness test for me for this one. Currently have tonsillitis, will wait and see if both Varane and myself are fit before deciding whether to go :D
We are a nightmare defensively because Maguire is still hungover badly. Regardless of us Atlanta are very impressive.

Surely Ronaldo cannot play again so soon, I was so impressed by his running and will to win its breathtaking. In all seriousness he was so energetic at the end.

We need a mix of ballers and power against city.

If there’s one thing this team needs it’s energy and a lift, the boys will be lifted by that but I think VDB and Sancho will have a point to prove and hopefully play with some much needed edge and intensity.

Cavani Rashford and Bruno to come on.

I just think Bruno looked absolutely knackered being him on 60th minute for this one, We need energy and not to give the ball away cheaply.

    Free the Beek!

Can't be any worse than Pogba or McT tonight. We're likely to have little of the ball, and Pogba is the biggest liability in the squad out of possession. Donny will run and not do something idiotic at least.
    De Gea
    Bailly - Lindelöf - Maguire
    AWB - McTominay - Fred - Shaw
    Cavani - Ronaldo
    1-4 to City.

    Pogba is suspended anyway.
You think that after we won vs Spurs and drew today?

I think he would be sacked already if it wasn't for lack of alternatives. We played terribly today. Spurs proved to be a false dawn.

I dont think the board thinks it that way at all. He's probably staying at least till winter and probably beyond.
Let the counter attack commence. It'll be interesting to see if he goes with 5 at the back with Varane probably out.
The board dont have the time to watch the games and performances. They probably look at the results and make decisions. Ole is here to stay.
Drop Maguire and Rashford. Happy to see Pogba is suspsended.

Hope city attack Bailly and forget Maguire exists. If they go mad down our left side it’s curtains early doors.
They’re always better against us at OT too:nervous:
    Praying Varane was only precautionary

If so the same 11 as Spurs. Maguire survives by the skin of his teeth
I reckon we'll continue the good form shown in tonight's game and come away with a draw. Can see a 1-1 with us going in front first
The only positive is that it’s a Saturday 12:30 kick off after City have played Wednesday night. Hopefully they aren’t at it.
