Was this the one where that Alaves wanker ended his drought and scored a hattrick?
Nope, that was a Feb/March game with Alves having joined in the January window. We made him look like Pelé, then I never heard of him again. Ever.

Think this will be a similar game to today, but just with a better team. Hopefully we tighten it up at the back, and add a bit of gloss to our finishing to be golden for a 5th straight win.

2-0 is my prediction for this one. A goal in either half with a fairly comfortable performance at home. No need to over exert ourselves considering the run of games coming.

    Team should be...

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia---Jones---Rojo---Blind
    --------Herrera------Pogba--------
    Mkhitaryan----Mata----Martial
    ---------------Zlatan---------------

Subs: Romero, Smalling, Darmian, Fellaini, Lingard, Rashford, Young

Rest Carrick for West Ham and play an extra attacker to break through their defence

Thankfully it won't be anything like the worst ever game of football post Fergie when we played them in the cup under LVG. A comfortable 3-0 victory with Mhki and Tony to start please Jose.

Gaston Ramirez will be getting into our defences face riling them up, I can see us going down to 10 men for this one if gaston gets his way.

Will be tougher than Sunderland but we definitely have enough quality at home to beat them.

would be interesting what people here think will be the two teams v Boro and West Ham.
I feel Carrick will be rested next match. Rooney wont be ready for Boro per Jose. Shaw ready for West Ham per phsioroom. But Jose said everyone other Rooney is ok.

Are you thinking of Sheffield United? That was the worst game I've ever seen at Old Trafford, please let this game better than that.

    We'll stuff them.

The players have had a nice 9 days rest prior to last game. They can handle this one and West Ham, which is totally in the shits.

Martial should start this game. We need to rest Carrick too.

I find it hard to believe Zlatan can play 2 matches in two days. But hey..the man is a monster and may surprise me.

Carrick I think will only play v West Ham.

I expect there will be some major changes with the attacking outfield players, though Pogba may well play both matches.

He played 4 matches in 9 days prior to the break. The man is a beast.

Micky should be good for a whole 90 out of the 2, and there's Mata and Rooney as well who can fill in. Carrick barely played until 8-9 games ago.

Fitness wise our squad is probably in the best shape it's been in years heading into the festive fixtures.

Mainly because of the amazing backroom staff we have.
Jose said Rooney may only be available on Jan 2nd.

Whatever, its a great feeling going into the new year with the team playing some great football...And winning matches.

We always used to have problems with Boro before they got relegated. I hope we thrash them.

I'll say same team as today except Fellaini at DM to rest Carrick for West Ham and then no idea on the wingers. Could be Mkhitaryan and Martial as the wingers just alternate now, and maybe Mourinho will hope that Mkhitaryan can go again against West Ham if he only gives him an hour against Boro. Or just play Mata for an hour since he might not want to use him away at West Ham anyways.

No, the League Cup game at home against Boro last year where we drew 0-0 and even lost 3-1 on fecking penalties. Mind you, it really was a shit side but still should have beat Boro. Worst game for me post Fergie.

I'd give Zlatan, Carrick and Jones a rest for this one as WH is coming up in a few days. Boro will be a very tough game though.

My first ever United game was an away game at Boro. I also spent a few month in Boro for my studies. So always special for me whenever we met them.

They're doing fine this year and they really know how to defend well.

We'll absolutely need to be far better than yesterday to win this game.

I hope that Mou will ajust few things in the team and can rest few of the players before the West Ham game.

Two games in 48 hours will be tough, so let's use the team and rest some of them.

    Darmian--------------Smalling------------Bailly-----------------------Young
    -------------------------Fellaini-----------Pogba------------------------------

That defence is shocking! We'd get mullered.

I can't shake off the nightmare when one of the smallest players(Juninho) in the league scored two headers against us many years ago.

We will play a reasonably strong team, we just need the points. Carrick might sit out but other than that we will play full strength

Jose vs Karanka adds an interesting dimension to this game. Fergie used to always have a good record against his proteges. Hopefully it will be the same for Jose.

I would definitely start Smalling and Bailly. Jones and Rojo have earned the right to be first choice but playing the best 2 defenders at home to Boro shouldn't be a risk. Herrera and Carrick could do with a rest too.

The toughest part of this game will be fielding a strong enough team to win but rotating enough to keep the team fresh for West Ham in the following game.

I think there will be less rotation than people think personally. We are not in a position to take our foot off the gas which means right now our best 11 has to play every game. Carrick will start I think. I think Miki and martial will be the only changes for this one.

    Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mkhi - Zlatan - Martial

Don't think we will really rest anyone until the reading game.

Apologies, yes that was dreadful too.

I know it came down largely to a game of luck and that being unable to win in 120 minutes is more objectionable but that shoot-out really summed us up. Gutless, embarrassing, a laughing stock. I sincerely hope those days are firmly behind us.

Yeah looks like those days are gone. Shame we're playing catch up. Those early draws killed us. But that game against Sheffield was bad too.

I think it may be a good idea to keep Bailly out of the starting 11 until he leaves for the ACON as he will be leaving relatively soon and it will leave us with a settled centre back partnership.
