We should be putting three or four past these lads given it is at home.

-Playing Fred and McTominay in a midfield two might be risky but I think it's worth allowing Pogba to play forward and unleash his incredible talent in creating now that he'll have Ronaldo to feed

-Sancho isn't good enough to start, plain and simple. Kid is overrated as far as I'm concerned.

Not the same. Plus I will be on edge all the time hoping he doesn't get injured before he puts on the shirt again for us.

Anyway, Ronaldo or not, it's always crap waiting for us to play again. Urgh.
Watching Bruno & Ronnie playing together is not the same, but it's closest you can get, especially if they'll play Dalot in last few minutes.

Sub on Ronaldo on the 61st minute, just like against Bolton in 2003.

Mason is undroppable surely? He’ll also not have had any international matches so will be straining at the leash

    Fecking hell

Is that based on what roughly 100 mins of playing time for a 21 year old who’s entering a brand new league ?

Matić-Fred in the middle may not happen but after Wolves I'm terrified of Fred-Pogba midfield.

Please tell me he said that on purpose? Nice to see a bit of character from him if so. Shows a sign of comfort and confidence.
As opposed to actually forgetting who Ronaldo is? I hope so too or he may be showing signs of a degenerative neurological condition.

Sorry to rain on the Ronaldo parade, but would he be available for immediate selection considering he won't have time to train with the first team owing to Portugal's int'l matches during this break?
As long as he comes through those games, without any shadow of a doubt.

No, I think he genuinely hadn't heard of this guy we've just signed :houllier:

Hopefully we sign a midfielder in the next 2 days, if not I guess it'll be the below pairing, I can't believe some are dropping Mason for Sancho.

I think you’re the 1st person on here to put Pogba on the left inside CM it only took 50 odd posts

Unless we bring in a surprise DM, or McTominay makes a hell of a recovery, then I'd go with Matic as he wouldn't have had any travel or game time during international week...

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka
    Varane
    Maguire
    Shaw
    Matic
    Pogba
    Greenwood
    Fernandes
    Sancho

    Cristiano +10.

Not even our shitty performances will get in our way for this game.

I expect to crush them 3-0, with a Cristiano screamer.

    Greenwood Cavani Ronaldo

I'd like that front three. I'd like to see Bruno drop deep to form a midfield three, too. Sure, his individual stats might suffer from having to play deeper, but I think it'd benefit the team as a whole. Especially if the other two midfielders are Fred and Pogba which isn't an ideal double pivot.

I know it's Ronaldo day, but realistically he'll be a sub and start in the CL. He's off with Portugal, Cavani will stay this international break apparently.. so yeah. Still really don't like that midfield balance, but this is probably what we go with.

I hope Sancho starts this game, good team to build your confidence.

    Would go with

    De Gea

    AWB
    Varane
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Fred/McTominay (If fit)
    Pogba

    Greenwood
    Bruno
    Sancho

    Ronaldo

Yeah, Pogba in midfield 2. It's a home game against lower level team, we shouldn't have problem.

Speaking after his team's smash and grab 1-0 win at Wolves, the Norwegian said: "Cristiano has evolved as a player.
"He used to play wide right, wide left, up front. But he's more of a centre-forward for me at the moment. Definitely.

Obviously, nothing too surprising, but everyone knows that Cristiano does not like to play as a 9. He said it himself, Carlo Ancelotti wrote it in his book.
It'll be an interesting situation to monitor. Personally think he's definitely #9 at this point in his career.

    Against Newcastle:
De Gea, AWB, Varane, Maguire, Shaw, Pogba, Matic, Greenwood, Bruno, Sancho, Ronaldo.
