I read somewhere Varane should be back in training on Monday. Hope so anyway, even having him on bench for the game will be a positive. Need Casemiro back in midfield so Scott can get back to the bench where he belongs.

I agree with this, we need the two centre backs who started in the World Cup finals rested and assessed. Interestingly Maguire made the team of the tournament for the second tournament running. Let’s give him and AWB who actually played well on Wednesday this chance. Can Maguire finally show the form we all know he’s capable of. We need 3 top quality centre backs with Varane and his injuries.

Martinez is not rested from a fitness perspective. He only played about 25 minutes football the last 3 weeks. I think it is more to give him time to celebrate with his team and family and also recharge mentally.
Where did you read that Maguire made it to the team of the tournament?

I agree, it’s a great time to play you, and why I think we’ll get something from the game. Over the last 6 games I think we are around 9th in the form table. The only issues we have is that Aurier was ill for the Blackburn game and Frueler had a bit of a stinker. Our false 9, 10 and 11 are all hitting some form + we have a decent bench.
There could be goals at each end I agree. Not convinced on you defensively or that you’ll keep out our forwards though. We will always create chances at home.

Rashford is in good form, Martial is back and Antony fit again. There’s also Garnacho too.

We are a lot better then people think, 3 goals conceded in November - clean sheets against Spurs, Palace and Liverpool. There is definitely a mistake in us and Worrall is prone to them (Garnacho against Worrall is frightening) but our tactic seems to be pack the centre, force attackers out wide and deal with the crosses into the box. The thing I’d worry about is an early goal conceded and be forced to chase the game - Then we could get a mauling. If we are on level terms at half time, I think we could nick it.

I hope the quality in our team will stand out, given that both teams are coming back from a break and surely has to be a biy rusty and incohesive.

Ideally we get on top right from kickoff and ger a goal or two in the first half.

On paper this is an easy win but when have we ever done things the easy way?

I'll be happy with a 1-0 win here

You have definitely improved however think Liverpool were quite unlucky and missed a hatful from memory. VVD could have had 3 himself. I still see you giving up opportunities.

Yeah I’m hoping for an early goal on our part.

We haven’t destroyed anyone this season aside from Sheriff despite deserving to do so multiple times, so it’s high time we do it against these. 5-0 United.

I don’t think we’ve played these in such a long time but I remember one of the games against them I think we won 8-1. Nows the time to show our ruthless side and get a bit of GD back. We need to start being clinical and scoring 5/6 goals. We’re creating the chances just not finishing them.

    Okay, 5-0 then.
1 v 0 Lingard shins it in with a deflection of Maguire followed by 45 mins of Rourkes Drift style defending as we switch to a 5-5-0 formation. Redcafe goes into meltdown. ETH‘s head explodes and everyone blames Ronaldo. You heard it here first!

If you can keep us out at Old Trafford for 90 minutes then you’ll deserve it!

That must be Fernet + Coca
My first thought as well when I saw the picture, that it ain't just Coca-Cola Zero in the glass. Could be some dark rum as well, from a connoisseurs perspective :D

Expecting Lindelöf and Maguire to come back, just don't know who we have on bench for those in case of injuries.

The first game after christmas is always bit of a gamble, but on paper our squad looks relatively good based on World Cup form, let's hope that they can keep it up.

It's Uniteds first match against Forest since that 8-1 win in February 1999.

Don't think think this current United panel have the clinical forwards to suddenly become clinical. Hopefully one is brought in during this transfer window.

That was the horrible match of a horrible season. We had one fit CB with Carlton bloody palmer as a makeshift CB. The French CF we got in on loan to replace striking PVH got an early reducer from one of your lot and promptly signalled He’d done his hammy.

Anyway no Solskaer, Cole or Yorke for you thank god.

Dec 17th 1994 - one of the best Forest sides ever.
Man Utd 1 Vs 2 Forest - Collymore, Pearce - Cantana with a consolation

Finally we have a manager who I trust can deliver on relatively easier games. Come on United!

I can see Casemiro starting at CB with Lindelof with Maguire and/or Varane coming in for Wolves game. Martinez the GW after that considering he is still in Argentina

Dalot injured with Varane and Martinez still resting after the World Cup. Can see us conceding here and a draw is not unlikely. Why exactly does Varane need rest when Mbappé was back in training after 2 or 3 days?
