I'll be interested to see how Amorim handles the midfield.

I imagine he wants us to dominate the game and have more of the ball - if we can. I would therefore be surprised if he opts to play both Casemiro & Ugarte. Maybe he still sees this as the best option and would rather move Bruno back in the second half if we need to go for it. Casemiro might have been rested for this game, I think he's better at passing than Ugarte.

I fully expect the back five to be Dalot, Mazraoui, Maguire, Yoro, and Dorgu with perhaps Shaw coming off the bench for the latter a bit earlier on in the second half.

Hojlund has to start. I'm not sure if Mount & Mainoo are ready to start yet, but I'd say Mount is probably closer.

What does he do about the goalkeeping situation? I think he will choose Onana.

So, long story short: It's most likely a toss-up between Ugarte & Mount?

    Onana
    Mazraoui Maguire Yoro
    Dalot Bruno Casemiro Dorgu
    Mount Garnacho
    Hojlund
    -----
    Subs: Shaw, Mainoo, Ugarte

I'd be very surprised if it isn't Onana. My plan would have been to give Altay the Newcastle game and to give him this one if he didn't shit the bed... Unfortunately, he did.

I'd guess Amorim was either doing that or was taking Onana out of the spotlight for a weekend and was always going to play him in this one anyway.

Yeah will 100% be Onana I think, likely even more of gamble to put in someone who hasn't played in ages under that kind of pressure.

I'm super interested with their game plan, because as the game went on it felt like they worked out more and more how to progress the ball into super dangerous areas and get round the back of the WBs. I think they also know we will struggle to handle that Georgian striker given the lack of pace in the CBs. Will they be aggressive and try and attack us or give us the ball and try and break?

I think this will be an unexpectedly easy win, someone is going to step up - I reckon Garnacho - and have a worldie.

Agree with this. Plus Eriksen and Heaven or Amass coming on at some point as well.

It'll be a Casemiro-Bruno midfield with Ugarte on bench. Amorim will be hoping for a good performance from Casemiro.

I'm hearing it depicts Onana severing the head of Matic as the good ship Utd sails onto Bilbao.

    Should go down well.

It'll be a picture of the Glazers sitting on a big pile of money

    Onana
    Mazraoui-Maguire-Yoro
    Dalot-Casemiro-Mainoo-Dorgu
    Bruno-Mount
    Hojlund

I'd play this and have an option of tightening things up with Ugarte coming on or bringing Garnacho for a direct threat if we're chasing. Mount off the bench offers zero threat.

Lyon just needs to their delay tactics ,hold on,be patient frustrated us,Onana or one of our defenders will surely gift them a goal or two

    GK Onana (reluctantly)

    RCB Maz
    CB Maguire
    LCB Yoro

    RWB Dalot
    LWB Dorgu

    CM Ugarte
    CM Casemiro

    AM Mainoo
    AM Garnacho

    ST Bruno

Won't happen but I'd probably go for Bruno as false 9. Hojlund has been awful lately and this way it gives us space to include both Garnacho and Mainoo. Mount on the bench as I'm not sure he is ready to start. Casemiro has been quite good lately and deserves to play.

I’ve got a hair cut booked so should get home at about quarter past eight. Gutted to be honest, so I’ve just phoned them up and booked two more haircuts straight after so hopefully I miss the whole game.

I dont think we'll win the europa but my god I dont want the season to end on the 17th april.

    We'll win 3-1. Don't worry about it.

Must win game for the season and particularly the manager. Prize money if the competition is won helps the rebuild.

I am still suffering from the Sevilla game two years ago when Licha got injured, when we were 100 times better than us, but they scored late and took advantage.

In this game, if we don't score first we'll don't pass.

If we score first, Lyon will have to score and will leave huge amount of spaces that will suit us, so let's say that the first 20 mins will be crucial.

The season is on this game (Rangers would be easy in semi, bit more complicated but not impossible for Bilbao) so definitely the game of the season so far.

But we had so many disappointement this season that it looks like we'll go out on penaltys and we'll finish the season in the biggest shame of all time

Team looked so lost on Sunday and with JZ being out for the season, I think we won’t even give them a game in Thursday and will roll over easily.
0-2 win for Lyon and some more comical shit served up from Onana and Hojlund.
Should be Amorim’s last game in charge if the club is serious about avoiding relegation next season.

Hopefully we fly at them in the first 10-15 mins.
    Like Liverpool used to do.
So many times we ease ourselves into the game not realising that it benefits the opponent to spend the first 10 mins watching Maguire pass it back to the goalie.

We often hype up games in knock out comps as being important, but I wonder if this really might be the most important game for us post SAF thinking of it from a financial perspective. If we believe how dire the financial situation is, is this a sliding doors moment because finishing bottom half of the table and not being able to spend much money might really hamper our ability to get back into the European places in general. Without CL money at some point in the near future, or at least EL money to tide us over, will we get to a point where we simply don't have the budget to push into the top 4/5?

 The amount of people still willing to pick Onana despite his constant errors & gifting Lyon 2 goals in the first leg is laughable, I'd rather have Heaton in goal over Onana.
I think they are choosing Onana because Amorim has more or less said he will be in goal. I’d trust Onana more to be honest but they are both terrible .

Lyon away in Europe this season three wins and two draws.

    1-4 v Rangers
    2-2 v TSG Hoffenheim
    1-4 v Qarabag fk
    0-0 v Fenerbahçe
    1-3 v Steaua Bucharest

In the French league they have lost 5 away games this season.

    4-2 v Stasbourg on 28th of March
    3-2 v Marseille on 2nd Feb
    2-1 v Brest in Jan
    3-1 v PSG in Decemeber
    3-0 v Rennes in August
Good. We play better as a party pooper anyway.

Hopefully we fly at them in the first 10-15 mins.

I think the crowd will play a huge part in this tomorrow, there should be chants of attack attack attack from the first minute.

    Onana
    Maz Maguire Yoro
    Dalot Casemiro Bruno Dorgu
    Garnacho Mount
    Hojlund

So much depends on this game, I am hopeful that the Old Trafford atmosphere and Bruno's tenacity can get us up for this tie.

Too much Whiskas for you this morning

Amazed we’re priced at 1.40 by the bookies to go through. I’m nowhere near as confident as that - I would say 50/50 at best.
