So post match review, Im quite impressed especially with Blind who surprised me took control of the midfield well. Di Maria and Ander Herrera are both class acts. Rojo had a few moments but all in all a good debut. Falcao had the one chance but Ive no doubt goals will come from him in plenty. Sorry to harp on about this but how good would we be with a experienced defender ala Hummels, this for me is the difference between 1st & 3rd/4th this season.

I thought the whole team was great as a unit tbh. The standouts for me were Di Maria, Blind, Herrera, Mata, Evans, Rafael and Rojo going forward (although I thought he could have been better defensively). Rooney was very good also. Blackett did pretty well. Only Van Persie was poor really. Also, Valencia was absolutely awful when he came on imo and showed why Rafael surely has to be 1st choice, whether that be full back or wing back. Januzaj was unbelievably selfish at the end and I was very annoyed with him for not passing to one of Falcao or van Persie.

Overall, a great performance though and hopefully we'll kick on from this.
Januzaj being selfish is becoming indeed annoying. Very similar to Arjen Robben in his early years at Munich. Robben changed; lets hope Januzaj sees the light as well at some point.

More impressed with the performance than the final score, genuinely played like a team. This must be what van Gaal wanted to see, he must be pleased with that. Would've been nice for Falcao to get on the score sheet, but more than happy with 4 goals from 4 players.

What a game to show how important 4 new starting players are.

Blind: he can be beaten by pace and strength sometimes now/in future but the stability he brings to the team is too obvious. Really pleased with his performance.

Herrera: what a difference to have a midfielder who always make run and himself available. Those little one-two is simple but effective and that shows the important role he plays in the team. Great stamina too.

Rojo: misread the ball once and the misunderstanding with De Gea, apart from that it was a very good debut. Great presence and calm on ball.

    Di Maria: world class!

However, Evans needs to show that he is the most experienced defender in the team and does what he said about he can fill what Vidic and Rio left... I have expected him to lead the defense this season but i just feel he doesnot perform well under pressure. Hope the guy just play his normal game.

And Valencia? Looking at Rafael making all the runs and linkups just shows how poor Valencia is urgggg

That was the old United we all love to watch.

Great to see the newcomers playing with confidence and skill.
Can't wait for the next match.

I can't begin to describe how satisfying it is to see a proper Utd performance again and I don't think I need to. I'm sure everyone here feels the same way.

God, I need to wake up in 5 hours for a 4 sector flight but I'm buzzing. What a feeling :D

Great great day. Was waiting for this for 2 weeks.. feels great..
Rooney just dont contribute to fast passing... and RVP(He missed the pre season so expected) needs to regain his sharpness...

For me apart from Angel, the best was Blind,Herrera and Rojo..

    Almost Perfect,
communication at the back was the problem especially Rojo. He need to learn english as quickly as he can to communicate with De Gea and Blackett.

Top 3 Performers was Di Maria, Blind, and Herrera.

Much more like it. Always a slight worry with so many new players but they all looked like they'd played here for years. Bring on the Leicester!
I'd forgotten how it felt to look forward to the next game...

I was very pleased with all our new signings. Rojo never took the smile off his face all match.
I would've taken off Van Persie for Falcao instead of Mata however. I hope the manager doesn't try too hard to have all 3 strikers on the pitch at once. Januzaj looked fine when he came on apart from the selfish shot on goal.
Overall a really nice performance, the new boys did great.

What to say. I dont know when was the last time I enjoyed an United game but I enjoyed this one full 90 minutes.
We look great, moving off the ball, moving with the ball, passing, changing positions, hunger, strength, speed, even arrogance sometimes, we look great from start to finish.
Sure its first game for this kind of team but I think it can get only better.
Our newcomers were great and that's nice to see. Di Maria was a beast and I laugh at everyone who said we dont need him or he's a luxury buy.
Blind slotted in our team right away, looked great, like a young Carrick. :)
Rojo was also very good, he had one bad pass to Blackett but other than that he looked good defensively and offensively.
Herrera as I said looked like a mid we missed, moved around a lot, tackled, asked for the ball, passed a ball a lot, was all over the place.
Mata looked good until he got subbed.
Blackett, I said in one post earlier, is going to be some player I think if everything goes right. One more good game by him, calm and composed.
Evans started patchy but grew in the game.
Rafael. Oh how we missed him, it was a Rafael from few years ago when he was one of the best RBs in the league.
Rooney had a very good game, assist and a goal, was all over the place too.
RVP had an off game, it didnt go for him, but had few good chances nevertheless.

Falcao in his 15, 20 minutes looked he will slot in our team too. :)

What was the best to see the lads enjoyed themselves. Especially our Argies, Di Maria and Rojo.

All in all a beatufitul day.

    I had a fiver on 5-1 scoreline.

wgaf about the bet after watching that display, feck me i was buzzing all the way through that match, it still seems almost dream like, rafael (quality performance, good to see him back) rojo, blind, herrera, mata, di maria, rooney n rvp up front and falcao, januzaj, shaw on the bench

lmao feck me we will rip this fecking league up once our defense is shored up and the lads have had a couple of months to gel and hit their stride.

Blackett is promising, be great if he makes the grade

Imagine if ronaldo comes next year too? wtf lol

oh, and we could do with selling evans, guys not at the level required sadly, and I never want to see fletcher play for us again

Robin didn't look happy today. Noticing the Herrera goal, he was asking for the ball but when it went in...just turned around. But it carried through out the 90 mins though. But i don't blame him at the end especially.
    No doubt about it.

    Worst: Januzaj and Valencia
Harsh on Adnan...had 10 mins and was wanting to make an impact. 4-0 up, he went for a shot and made a hash of it....he's young and will learn.
Valencia on the other hand...we all know he was in two minds and always pushing it.

To think this is just a small step of a process makes me think how far this team can go when it all clicks together flawlessly.

Without getting carried away. This team has so much potential it's frightening! Blind and herrera were in my opinion the most important players on the pitch today. They kept the ball beautifully and didn't give QPR a sniff of the game, which in recent times has been done to us.
Di Maria, Mata and Herrera linked up really well and Rafaels return has a big boost. Now with shaw coming back the diamond can be fully used and the attack will be much better with the width shaw and rafa provide plus the midfield quadruple of Mata, Di Maria, Blind, Herrera.
Back to Di Maria, wow. It's the first time since Ronaldo left that we have a player who well and truly grabs the game by the scruff and makes everything much better and potent. Truly wonderful player.
Sorry for blabbering on, I'll go back to destiny now haha

Our defensive frailties would decrease significantly if we actually had a stable back 3/4/5 so that they can actually develop an understanding with eachother and with De Gea.
Other than that I think we gave a solid performance. Hopefully this will give us some confidence and can be something we can build on. Most importantly I actually enjoyed watching United play, can't remember the last time I had that, thought my memory is pretty poor to be fair.

It wasn't just the football, there was a togetherness on the pitch which I haven't seen for some time. OK, we won against a poor QPR side but this will be a team which I believe will be contesting for survival in the second half of the season and which will give several top teams a scare. This wasn't just a resounding win, this was a boost in confidence.

That's not the problem, the problem for me is that Herrera is a step above Allen in terms of all round quality and they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same bracket. But then again I might be biased. :p
Just to clarify - I am biased cos I'm Welsh (and Joe Allen played for my home town briefly as well, Wrexham). But yes, Herrera looks a step above him.

I've been waiting five years for that performance. Five years. It was like a taste of heaven.

3 of our 4 midfielders in the diamond scored. And Blind made a cracker of a shot!

A midfield that scores goals... hmm....

As much as I love Cleverley as our own boy, his shooting is really awful. All I can remember is that weird "I-meant-it" cross-shot vs Newcastle, and numerous shots into the stand.

Not only the with the quality of 4 of our 6 new signings that started today but them not being effected my the confidence slap left by Moyes era was a huge boost.

I'm dissapointed in Januzaj. If he had passed to RVP or Falcao, it would have been a goal, yet he decides to make another one of his ridiculous shots (I swear, he can't shoot for sh*t). He seems to have become way more selfish than last season... Don't like it.

Anyway, every new signing was great and most of our players performed well except the usual (Valencia... God, what a difference Rafael makes).

Was very Nani esque. Disappointing decision but he'll learn.

Van Persie needs to find his finishing boots.. Otherwise he'll be starting on the bench most of this campaign.. Although defending remains a concern, we were really good going forward.. It was just QPR but this is a new team, new formation and also players coming back from Internationals.. Good result

Haven't had that excited feeling when I watching Manchester United for a long time under the dreaded one. I was really happy we won and we played really good football. Hope this game puts to bed that Van Gaal wants rid of Juan Mata. Di Maria was fantastic. Hope we go on a winning streak.
