Anyone mentioned how badly this team is managed and coached?
Even if we hadn't messed up the CL, realistically, we wouldn't win it nor the league with this squad. We are still short of quality in key areas and I don't think anyone - bar peak Sir Alex - could win the CL and/or league with them.

Yes, it is frustrating at times like tonight, but I think if Ole wins a trophy at the end of this season and gets the transfers right (players with a good work ethic as a minimum requirement) in the summer (and providing the board support him), then we'll be on the right track. Then hopefully he won't have to make weird and wonderful selections next season due to a thin squad. Could be a very different situation if Ole wins nothing come the summer, though.

Anyone mentioned the questionable if not downright bizarre decisions from Ole yet? Top of the pile, 3 goalkeepers on the bench. 3! Rashford looks knackered and wasn't needed at all. Bruno isn't super-human and will eventually exhaust. Wan-Bissaka must be getting there too even though he only played a half. Williams is barely getting a look-in (and shows in his rusty performance today) so no idea why he wasn't loaned out. Tuanzebe could've easily started at right-back, Mata instead of Bruno or play Greenwood deeper, chance for Galbraith instead of Fred, Diallo RWF. All in all, was a golden opportunity for at least a couple more youngsters to have started and so was a disappointing match both in terms of the lineup and the exhibition-like performance.
    Moan moan moan.
    He can't win.
He picks a strong side to be sure we go through, waaah. Play the kids, he's shit, waah.

He plays the kids, along with Mata ( who's apparently past it and shit) they get battered by a decent RS side, wrecks their confidence and sets them back months. Waaah, why play the kids? He's shit, sack him, waaah.

Plays rashford, waah, he might get injured, even though we've been calling him overhyped all season. Waah.

    We win, it's luck.
We lose he's shit, no style, patterns of play etc. Blah blah blah.

I think our coaching staff are more than competent, what match have you exactly been watching? Easy to see the improvements in younger players and the highest scoring team in the league, I think you’ll eat humble pie before the season is done.
They are competent but feel we need more experience and knowledge that has not come through the club as feel it would bring fresh ideas

You're right. Ole is perfect. We should never critique him ever again. NEVER! Now kneel before your new god, puny mortals!!! BONUM COMMUNE MANCUNI! BONUM COMMUNE MANCUNI! Light those stakes!! BURN IN HELL, HEATHENS! BURN! MWUAHAHAHA.

"Ole, your thoughts on the ritual sacrifice?"
"Look, er, people can think what they want. But, er, only if they support each and every decision I make so, er, the sacrifice was the right call. Burning non-believers is in our DNA, it's what we do. Fantastic."

If we had picked the side some on here wanted I was actually worried the game could have got out of our control. Just throw the kids in, when it is likely the kids really aren't ready for this level yet. In the end Ole picked a side that got us through the game without too much stress, rested players and gave minutes to others that need it. It was a professional job. Not sure we will be in that position again. The further we go the more he will need to pick his first team. Just take this game as a chance to rest players. I was also surprised how strong a squad Sociedad brought. That could have influenced Ole's choice of team. A weaker side, but strong enough to get the job done. We still had more possession and created more chances than them.

Far far too logical a post and sensible. It'll be ignored though and the "he should have played all the U23s, what a coward" brigade will on to shoot you down

If that penalty had gone in you wonder what the reaction would have been. Luckily it didn't. Amad and Shola need to be brought into a side well in the lead, but with other first choice players. Martial is in bad form and if there is a chance of a goal he isn't going to pass it. Our midfield as a functioning attacking unit was not there once Bruno went off. It was not a pretty game, but an efficient game. We are easily through to the next round and now wait and see what we get next.

Indeed and some these posters can't see that. There'll be plenty of time for the likes of Amad and Shola to shine but it appears patience isn't a virtue among some people on here
