We have to go and attack them . They are mainly a set piece team they won't be out to catch us on the counter . It's a must win game

I don't know about that, but it's right we need to get on the front foot. Villa are not a great side and they had by far the better of the game vs the Blades, barring the Hawkeye shambles. We should be tearing into them at home, if we're playing in front of their lines looking clueless I will scream, we need to cut the crap at the back and put on a show in the final third.

So Matic definitely comes in for this match, given his physical presence. Wonder if Bailly is fit enough to start in place of Lindelof.

    Probably

    ------------------------de Gea
    AWB----------Bailly------Maguire-----Shaw
    ------------Pogba----------Matic
    Greenwood----Bruno-------Rashford
    --------------------Martial

This will be a tight game 1 or 2 goals either way, I don’t get the OT advantage for us in this there is no fans to push us on,

As for the 3 in midfield I’d say the only change will be matic for scotty, Pogba off the bench, as we will want someone early on to break up there play.

Last few years have done a number on our fans for sure, we are playing Sheffield United not peak Barcelona we should be looking to dominate from the outset and let them worry about us not the other way round.

We will play our game. Obviously we are likely to get pinned back but we are not the fastest side on the counter so we will look to get a hold of possession when possible.
If that's your plan then start looking forward to your game in hand cos you will ship 2 or 3. We aren't very polished in possession but are lethal when there's space to counter

I think it’s still a matter of sharpness. AWB and Shaw were very good before the break as were martial and Fred. They will come on from the spurs game. Pogba and greenwood will start and we will smash them. Super confident of the win in this one.

We should see if we can take Hendo in this game and try him out, he is our player after all.

A difficult game as Sheffield United will be well organised and tough to break down.

Think of the home game v Wolves in February and expect simliar. Need Rashford a lot shaper for this game and I'd gladly take a 1-0 win for Man United if offered now.

They'll be organized, but a draw doesn't really help them. If they want to stay in the hunt for top 4, they need 3 points from this.

Could be a really good and open game, especially if we score first.

Looks like it’ll be boiling hot on Weds and a 6pm kick off so expect lots of substitutes being used! Should favour the team in possession and the team that’s had the bigger rest so can see an easy three points here

I don’t want to jinx anything here but there seems to be an assumption that you will turn us over. I’m not confident for this at all but I wasn’t when we played Liverpool/City either and we didn’t ship goals in those games. Are you guys really confident about the Fernandes and Pogba link up?
I think we have the edge here for a few reasons.

    1) Your schedule. Your squad is pretty bare and you rely heavily on the great system Wilder implements with your full backs. I can see you fading badly on Wednesday post the half hour mark.

    2) No Dean Henderson. Big loss for you whatever way you look at it.

    3) United's squad. Plenty of options and lots of rotation. Pogba only played half an hour for instance along with Matic and Greenwood etc.

As it looks it should be United's game I don't see us not scoring. Question is will our defense get back to how it was pre lockdown.

No Henderson for Sheffield is a big one.

Ideally with Pogba and Greenwood from the start we’ll be a lot less sterile on the ball.

That's exactly what I would play too. I was happy to see any of a few line-ups vs Spurs, because it was about testing fitness for certain players. But I'll be quite disappointed if the team against Sheffield doesn't look very close to this, particularly with regard to Pogba and Greenwood starting.

I don’t disagree that you will have the edge, I agree with every point too I’m just surprised at some comments. This thread will blow up later no doubt if we drop points  I will probably agree with everyone if that’s the case.

Do you anticipate an even game possession wise then?

Nothing but respect for what you guys are doing! Incredible season and Been a breath of fresh air.

We'll do them by a couple of goals. It's absolutely fantastic watching United with that much swagger. Just think of bringing in Sancho next season, United will be back to be one of the best teams in the world.

We won't sit back against Sheffield, we won't hide, we'll demand the ball and pass it forward. Good things are going to happen.

Probably not tbh, we had a fair share of it when you came to our place but I suspect it will be different at Old Trafford. I was really looking forward to going to this one :(

Is he the highest paid? Didn't know that.

In any sense I think we'll let Henderson go on loan again and next season will be De Geas last.
I’m sure I’ve read that he is from the latest contract. Either way you’ve got England’s number 1 waiting to take over. It will be a shame to see him getting blasted when he becomes your starting keeper by other fans he’s a class act.

I'd take out Martial for Ighalo. Need a lot more movement and physicality against a stubborn Sheffield side.

How's Henderson's distribution and how well he commands the box ,as a Sheffield United supporter do you think he is ready to step up as soon as next season for United

I don’t see him as any worse than de Gea. Maybe biased but he’s a top keeper. He’s comfortable with the ball, needs to improve coming out on set pieces but he will get there.

Subs will change this game - it would be good to hold back one of Martial or Rashford to come off the bench in my opinion. Also, assuming Henderson can't play for them?

    I'd go with:

    DDG

    AWB
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Matic
    Pogba
    Bruno

    Greenwood
    Martial
    Mata

Rashford, James, Lingard, Fred & McT to be game changers if necessary

I think this is a crucial, crucial match for us, not because the FA cup is important, but this will give a good picture of how good the first-team is and how aggressive the board needs to be in the transfer window.

Both Pogba and Fernandes need to start.

Must win. If we win this then we can build some momentum and definitely catch Chelsea or Leicester.

Without at all wanting to seem patronising, I'd love to see us send more young prospects on loan to your lot if it was something your management were interested in.

The way Henderson has been allowed and helped to develop there has been exemplary. It just seems to be a well run and well coached club and a place I could see lads like Laird or Mejbri thriving in their development.

Unfortunately for us, I think you have probably outgrown that now and will be looking to entice your own prospects and stars, rather than develop them for clubs you'll rightly be targeting as rivals.

Also, I'd love to see Wilder get a shot at the Ireland job in the future. Feel like he'd be a perfect fit for us.

I can understand why you’d say that. And don’t discredit Shrewsbury with Henderson’s development he was fantastic there too. If you’ve got any talent at his level I wouldn’t be against taking them at all, as long as you allow them to play against you too ;) But any more James Wilson’s and I will blow up.
