I can understand why you’d say that. And don’t discredit Shrewsbury with Henderson’s development he was fantastic there too. If you’ve got any talent at his level I wouldn’t be against taking them at all, as long as you allow them to play against you too ;) But any more James Wilson’s and I will blow up.
Greenwood for a season? You need help up top

Have to think this is a must win. Ole needs to show some real guts and pick Romero (he won't) and an attacking side that includes Greenwood, as well as Bruno and Pogba together from the start to see if he actually does work for a whole game

Nope. He hasn't featured for any other club than Sheffield this season.
I thought for some reason that when a player is on loan it was agreed that he can’t play against the parent club? I’m sure that used to be a rule?

That's still the rule, he's ineligible in this game. But he's not cup tied.

If ever there was a must win game! For us to have any chance of top 4. Front foot all the way. Matic, Pogba and Bruno for maximum effect against one of the best drilled and organised sides in the league. Quick passing, lots of movement amd hopefully our forwards are switched on, and that would be Greenwood, Rashford and Martial/Ighalo starting.

I think we’ll win. They were fortunate to get a very late equaliser after we turned the game in Sheffield. We had no Bruno or Pogba in that game, and they won’t have Phil Jones playing upfront for them next week.

John Egan suspended. He's played about 2600 minutes for Sheffield Utd in the league this season.
2 days extra rest and they can't play their keeper or Egan. Be a huge disappointment if we don't win now.

I'd try resting Rashford for this game. Back to back games on short rest can't be pleasant after a long lay off.

    Ighalo
    Martial Bruno Greenwood
    Pogba Matic
    Williams Maguire Bailly AWB
    deGea

We play Norwich in the Cup at the weekend. I imagine he will start that game on the bench. We need PL points badly.

I think Mata starts this one. Perfect game for him, really. Greenwood will start in the cup.

De Gea, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, AWB, Pogba, Fred, Fernandes, Rashford, Martial, Greenwood.

Although I'm sure Ole will have other ideas.

Think I'd rotate a bit in this. Think we've potentially 16 games in 2 months and you'd worry about muscle injuries playing at such an intensity after the long break

Some of the players looked spent at Spurs in the last 5. Wan Bissaka in particular I thought

    ---------------------DDG-------------------------
    Dalot----Bailly--Maguire---Williams
    ---------------------Matic-----------------------
    ------------Bruno---------Pogba------------
    Greenwood-----Ighalo------Martial

    subs

Hopefully get comfy and Rashford, Mata, Periera, Axel and Fred to come on

    Must win match now.
Spurs was a must win also when you think about it, they were there for the taking. Ole has to do more yet to convince me he's good enough, getting us 3rd or 4th would be a good season for us along with a trophy.

Drop points here, and we are not finishing top 4, I am afraid. If we are not in CL next season, I believe Poch may come back into equation.

Start with Greenwood and Pogba and we'll win comfortably. I just hope James does not start. He's nowhere near a first team regular let alone starter.

They're missing Henderson and Egan, so I think we should go for a very offensive line-up such as:

    de Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Fred
    Fernandes Pogba
    Greenwood Martial Rashford

Sub on Williams, McTominay, Ighalo and hopefully have the luxury to give some other squad players who haven't played yet some minutes before the Norwich game.

This will be a difficult game if we make it hard for us.
They will try to catch us on the counter and score a goal but we can definitely smash them - it's Wolves that worry me!

That's exactly what I would play too. I was happy to see any of a few line-ups vs Spurs, because it was about testing fitness for certain players. But I'll be quite disappointed if the team against Sheffield doesn't look very close to this, particularly with regard to Pogba and Greenwood starting.
Yeah, I think it's quite likely to be fair. The games are coming thick and fast, so resting McTom is likely anyway. Matic did himself no disservice last match and Ole playing him at the back was maybe a dress rehearsal too. The biggest question there is whether he drops Lindelof or not. He definitely should. He's not a physical player by any stretch.

I'd take out Martial for Ighalo. Need a lot more movement and physicality against a stubborn Sheffield side.
Yeah, maybe. I'd be surprised to see Ole drop Martial though. He's a confidence player and Ole will likely stick with him. I just hope if it's not working that he'll address it early on.

Ole won’t be looking to drop his main centre forward after one quiet game after 3 months off. Nor should he ffs.

It's not just one quiet game, Martial is capable of brilliant matches and anonymous ones. Problem is for a united number 9, he has too many anonymous ones. That's before you consider the fact that his main weakness is static movement, which is why Ighalo might be a better shout for a team like Sheffield.

I mean, Martial will play we know that, I would just rather see Ighalo for this fixture, and it's not based just from the last game.

Well the game before the last he was scoring the winner vs City. He was on decent form before the break, we’ve just had the one game back, in which he was quiet and barely touched the ball.

At some point in the future, we may well look to get s new striker, but asking for him to not play the next match isn’t justified for me. His string always seems so much shorter than most others on here I feel. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a couple of goals in the next game, and nor should anyone else, as it wouldn’t really be unusual.

I agree, although if he did it wouldn't exactly be 'dropping'. Just rotation. And they're different kinds of players so it would be a tactical swap rather than a 'you didn't play well enough so now you're out.' But I agree Martial is the right player vs the blades anyway.

Ighalo has been here since January, he’s never been swapped from one league game to the next due to ‘rotation’. He’ll be rotated against Norwich in the FA Cup, as has been custom so far. You make it sound as if we don’t have a first choice striker and we go into each league game with a ‘different strokes for different folks’ approach. I’m not sure we do, Martial has started every league game he’s been fit for all season as far as I can recall.

If Martial doesn’t start, he’s been dropped, we have a Cup game for Martial to be rested a few days later.

He wasn’t even that quiet anyway, just isolated due to a deep midfield and defence. You have to say he had 2 chances and 1 dier did excellently to recover, the 2nd lloris with a wonder save.

think Ole will mix the team up a bit for this one. Can see Matić/pogba/Fernandes starting with either greenwood or mata on the right wing.

If you don’t beat us when we have no Henderson, Egan or O’Connell then I’ll be seriously impressed. You can see how everything collapsed today for us, it should be routine for you this, one where you don’t need to step out of second gear.

Think Wilder has rightly torn into them and given a kick up the arse but there’s not much we can do to compete in this one.

    Red Card for Casemiro!
When we drew 3-3 with them earlier in the season, we didn't have any of Bruno, Pogba, Matic or McTominay in midfield. We'd started with three at the back (featuring Phil Jones, since Shaw and Bailly were out as well) and our first sub off the bench was Lingard. Pereira looked clueless, Lindelof and Jones had stinkers, and they were lucky to get a last minute equalizer at home.

I don't think we'll go three at the back this time, and Ole will definitely start with both Bruno and McTominay. Greenwood's already scored against them once this season, and James would be great to get off the bench after an hour, epecially since they've already played two games in quick succession and will be tired.

    AWB-Bailly-Maguire-Shaw
    Fred-McTominay
    Greenwood-Bruno-Rashford
    Martial

Pogba will come on at half time instead of the hour mark, I suspect. This should be a win for us.

You were missing Henderson and Egan the last time as well, if I'm not wrong. I think you pulled off the draw because we couldn't deal with balls in the box and had no midfield.

Even if we go back to 3, it's likely to be Pogba, Bruno and another midfield in 352 instead of 343. And even if we do, there is no Phil Jones. And these two things alone already make massive difference to the last time we played against them.

That’s true. Losing O’Connell on top of that makes it worse. Plus we have 0 momentum now and a smaller squad to choose from. It’s looking grim all of a sudden.

There's something to that actually, could use his movement. He links up well with Bruno too. But I think Greenwood has earned a start based on his cameo against Spurs, and he's such a devastating finisher I'm not sure we can afford to leave him out, we absolutely need to win this game.

Start the strongest team with Pogba and Greenwood coming in after good cameos at Spurs and then hopefully we will have the game won by 60 mins. Then we can rest players.

Sheff Utd without 3 of their back 5. Their squad can't cope with that really so we need to punish them.

Norwich at weekend in Cup is a good chance to rotate and have a few of the big boys on the bench just in case.
