Sunderland Association Football Club is a professional football club based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. The club was founded as Sunderland & District Teachers Association Football Club by schoolmaster James Allan in what has commonly been believed to be October 1879. They played several years in the FA Cup and local cup competitions before joining the Football League in the 1890–91 season in place of Stoke.

Tom Watson became Sunderland's first manager when he was appointed in 1888. During the late 19th century, they were declared the "Team of All Talents" by William McGregor, the founder of the league. Sunderland won the league championship in the 1891–92 season, one season after joining The Football League. Sunderland successfully defended the title the following season. In the process, they became the first team to score 100 goals in a season, a feat not matched until 1919–20. They played in the top league in England until the 1957–58, season when they were relegated into the Second Division.

Sunderland are English top-flight's sixth most successful club of all time, The club has won six titles in the First Division, and finished runners-up five times. The club has also won the FA Cup twice. Traditionally, Sunderland's two main rivals have been Newcastle United and Middlesbrough, against whom the Tyne–Wear derby and Tees–Wear derby are competed for respectively. They play their home games at the Stadium of Light.

Would take Ruud/Giggs/Solskjaer/Carrick/Rooney/Fred the Red as interim manager for this over another woeful 90 under Amorim

Looking for a new manager I think this week. JR Will pull the trigger imo.

Time for a shake up, out with all the old underachievers that have been here for years and keeps on letting the team down year after year.

I will watch today’s Forest v Sunderland game with interest, before speculating about our home match with the Mackems next weekend.

Hopefully, Ruben will be back in Portugal by then, soaking up some of the late summer rays and trying to get his head back together, having been set free from this torment.

Three games until November 1st. Don’t think we will pull the trigger before that.

And there’s a good chance we don’t win any of those three games. Maybe we scrape a win against Sunderland but the other two I’d expect a point from at best.

Please no more 3 at the back and 2 midfielders for the love of god. Give me a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. Give me the United I've been denied of for the last 12 years. I beg of thee.

Should Sunderland keep 11 men on the field they'll have zero excuses to not get a positive result against that mess of a Man United team on and off the field.

Sunderland look far better than us.

Anyone suggesting that Amorim will win this are in for a reality check.

    Further towards relegation we slide.

I watched Sunderland against Villa and im currently watching them against Forest. They are a good team. Physical as feck, too. We'll struggle big time from set pieces. Cant say im too optimistic about this one.

They’ve been mint this season. The new keeper is mustard too. Can’t see us scoring so the best we can hope for is a 0-0.

Sunderland are now lying 3rd in the table, after today’s win away at Forest.
They have the 2nd best defensive record (goals conceded) out of the top 5 clubs and the 5th best in the whole PL, so far.

It’s a good strong start to the season and they’re clearly a difficult team to beat.

If Utd don’t sort themselves out by next weekend? This is going to be a home draw at best, or on current form, a home defeat.

Sunderland is in form. I hope we can get a result, but again not confident that we can pull that off.

    Im struggling to care.
Can't seem to switch off altogether and I'm sure I'll watch at the weekend but I've had enough

    Lammens to start

Hope Bruno and ugarte and dropped for mainoo and cas.

No chance. I've thought this was a loss for some time now. They're 1 point off second.

We’ll scratch a draw I reckon, 2-0 down and possibly pull it back. Delays the inevitable further.
