I just had to google who on earth the Sunderland manager is as couldn’t think who it was and when I did see his name, I can honestly say I’ve never heard of him.

All that being said, I’m fully prepared for Reg to school Amorim and United on Saturday at OT. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it can, as a great man once said.

    Let's get miserable, miserable
    I wanna get miserable,
    Let's get into miserable,
Let me hear your xG talk, your xG talk

100% expect sunderland to score as we're incapable of keeping clean sheets. The only question is how we react after we concede, will be capitulate like usual or have enough to respond?

    I think 1-1.

Maybe, just maybe we'll come out flying and score first. Only way we're winning this.

The thing here is if we lose, he's gone, so it's a win-win. Unless it's a draw.
There’s close to no chance he is gone. All things considering, it’s pretty quiet around his potential sacking and it’s mainly the lower level guys reporting anything.

Wonder if he's got the balls to play Mainoo. Doubt it.

You mean one of the slowest players in our squad with questionable application. Had a long summer to up his intensity and showed it nowhere. Even the last game he's lost the ball before we conceded for the third time. If he's called Fred he's absolutely crucified.

I bet we win this comfortably 3:0 and go on a run of wins.

If he had any brains, Amorim would sacrifice a CB for additional legs in midfield and save his job.

Can’t see him doing that though. He's fecking married to his formation.

If Amorim is to survive, I think he mostly has to hope that we've just been unlucky this season, with key moments in both boxes letting down a team that is otherwise improved. And that things like the ~ 6 goals between our actual and expected goal differences will even out across more games.

I don't particularly believe in it, but it's a more likely source of upturn than him actually changing anything that has a massive impact for the positive.

I know people want the likes of Mainoo in the team, and I would put him in too, but I really don't see that being a job-saving change. First and foremost, Amorim needs a lot of things to already be working better than the results suggest they are.

The main change I do want to see is Lammens coming in. If he isn't played this weekend then he'll hardly be thrown in against Liverpool, and Bayindir is indivually bad enough that dropping him could have significant impact across those two games, even with little else changing. If we're optimistically trying to frame things as an execution issue in both boxes, Bayindir is a big part of that.

I'd love to see Mainoo and Ugarte compared for speed. But I'm referring to one of our best ball carriers and most technical players who should be given a chance to help kick-start proactive play but isn't because our manager is too cowardly to start him.

Also, he lost the ball in no small part because the system is absolute bollocks and he was thrown on to try and make something happen in a formation that only God can explain, not even our coach.

Wonder if he's got the balls to play Mainoo. Doubt it.

He's doing what previous managers did - plays only the "experienced" players, now it's Maguire, Shaw, Casemiro. He will play unchanged team until the end like ETH did. It's baffling. He should at least go out trying out talent like Mainoo, Yoro, Heaven - at least he could say he was building something for the future. But he's in pure survival mode like Ten Hag.

at least the one thing we can look forward to is not knowing for certain how this game will go. So many different possibilities in this one. Could be literally anything result wise.

Would be typical for Brobbey to score his first EPL goal.

Unfortunately, all credible sources/news sites suggest Amorim will stay for the entire season, regardless of how it's going. I assume things change if we get into relegation territory but for now we're stuck with Amorim. So I'll be rooting for him as another piss poor season and no European football will devastate us more even if we do get a new manager in the summer.

I expect a drawn-out single goal win that'll be praised by United regardless of how ugly it is. 1-0. 2-1. Pick your poison.

I'd kill to see but it'll never happen (assuming Maz and Amad are out):

----------------Lammens------------- (just to see what he's like)

    Mount--Yoro--De Ligt--Dorgu

    -------------Case----Mainoo--------

    Mbeumo----Bruno-------Cunha

    ----------------Sesko------------------

Mount is the odd duck but his pressing and attacking intent, mixed with his physical side, could make RB work. I miss Fergie's random but genius "Carrick as CB" "Giggs as CM" etc gambles.

We’re only 4 points off the top 4.

Still time to turn this around……….yeh right!

    We can only hope.

    Nothing suggests this does it?
Stories seem to say we're hanging on for the 1st year deadline and less compo.

2 at the back is very Zeman like, i like it, just go for it!

Going for a 2-1 win only because I'm old enough to remember United being expected to beat newly promoted teams at home, so it might just be muscle memory on my part.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least though if the result was the other way round. In which case, brace yourself for a relegation battle if Amorim stays on as manager.

Team line up? F**k knows. Half the team deserve to be dropped after Brentford but Ruben has his favourites so it might very well be the exact same line up.

    easiest prediction ever

    Bayindir
    De Ligt Maguire Shaw
    Amad Casemiro Bruno Dorgu
    Mbeumo Sesko Cunha

The team I’d love to see below. No Shaw, No, Maguire, No Dalot, No Bruno. We all know he is not going to change formation he has a fetish for. Needs to try something new.

    .....................Sesko............................
    .................................................................
    ..........Cunha..................Mbuembo...........
    .................................................................
    Dorgu.............................................Amad
    ..............Casemiro......Mainoo...................
    ..................................................................
    ...........Heaven.......de Ligt.....Yoro...............
    ..................................................................
    ...........................Altay...............................

Probably win this, then lose next, rinse and repeat. Casemiro will play a nice pass at one point, cue he's back and must start every game, because the 60 or so mins he can actually last for, he's class. Next game he's crap, he's too old and shouldn't start again for us. Rinse and repeat.

I think if Amorim really has a chance of turning things around (unlikely, but you never know), then he not only needs to win here but he needs to win convincingly.

At least 3 goals, good all round team performance and a show of effort and dedication from the players that they are fighting for him on the pitch.

A scrappy win isn’t going to cut it for me.

Aye, just prolonging in inevitable at this stage.

Not sure why any sort of win would cut it, tbh. He needs to win at least two or three on the bounce before he'll even come close to convincing most fans, at this point.

No matter what the club says, and irrelevant of what happens on Saturday I still think November is the key month, that's if he hasn't jacked it in already by resigning (Something I am sure he made clear about when he took the job that if he felt it wasn't working he would walk away).

Lets see whether he is a man of his word, because at the moment, and for the last 11 months it really hasn't been working.

Its just annoying and upsetting at the same time as I like the bloke, he is such a likeable guy and fortunately for him we have a really forgiving fanbase, but we can only take so much disappointment and poor performances.

    We'll win this 3-1

but get hammered against Liverpool after the break with Wirtz scoring a hattrick.
