Hope Pogba will be ready. We're short on midfielders big time. Thank you Fellaini.
Fellaini sld the team and a boss who loves him for a song, big time. Sometimes you really cannot understand players

Swansea are woeful. 3 points is a must.
Just like Celta- I really think if the team puts their mind to what Mourinho tells them to good use, this is looking good. Liverpool are nervous having seen the massive lead whittled down to virtually nothing, Arsenal will always be arsenal so top 4 via the league is very much on. And the chance to win the EL has never been greater

Win and we are third i think that is motivation enough to get the job done, hopefully we want it more and get it done.

In contrast over here in Oz, finally a game I can watch without having to set an alarm with it being at 9pm Sunday night for me! I was watching United City this morning at 5am before work!
Always good to know I'm not alone - I bloody love mid-day kick-offs

    12pm? What a joke.
Even stranger when you factor in we are playing this so early so they can squeeze 3 games on TV on Sunday. One of them being the North London Derby, which instead of being played early (like most derbies are) is kicking off at 4.30!

Great opportunity to boost our GD. Surely we can take one of these opportunities?

I think Shaw will get a start at LB and i'd probably go with Young at LW instead of Martial, he was atrocious last night.

    DDG

    Valencia
    Bailly
    Blind
    Shaw

    Herrera
Pogba (swap with Carrick as soon as (or if) we go ahead

    Lingard
    Miki
    Young

    Rashford

Assuming we are in a comfortable position, which knowing us we will make hard work of it, i'd get Pogba off as soon as possible to avoid injury and i'd also look to get Axel a run out, possibly moving Blind into CM given how short we are on options and he may be needed there in the run-in.

I'd then swap Rashers as early as possible for Martial so he can play through the middle but he needs to raise his game again.

Rashford was far worse than Martial. Why aren't you suggesting he gets dropped? He looks knackered too.

Who plays in midfield for this?

Will Carrick be able to play? Jose has said in the past he really struggles to play games in such quick succession. Will we risk Pogba given we have a huge game on Thursday?

We could play Blind there and stick someone else at CB. Or even Rooney at a push? Or do we promote someone from the academy?

I'd rather risk Carrick than Pogba. The former is healthy, at least. He can manage 60 minutes. If we haven't wrapped it up by then, put an attacker on in his place and move Rooney in midfield. If we have a lead - maybe some youngster. Do we have anyone half decent in the reserves? Maybe Tuanzebe and move Blind forward.

Rooney will play at the 10.

    ....and Solskjaer has won it!
I don't think Jose will bring players off half way through a game to rest them. He really only makes tactical substitutions to win the game being played but will take off tired players who needed to build up minutes. That said, how often do we get early leads for him bring players off with a future game in mind???

Pogba might be on bench but I think he'll be rested for next week.

    We have to be careful with the team we pick. Can't risk injuries. I suggest;

    DDG
    Darmain Bailly taunzebe shaw
    Herrera blind
    Lingard Rooney young
    Martial

Try to win the game early, then take Martial off for Miki, push Rooney up front, Valencia on for Herrera, push Lingard into a central midfield position.

Absolutely must win, and while we should roll them over easily we shouldn't discount the effect of fatigue and injuries on our squad. Plus, with our home form we cannot really take any match for granted.

With the Celts game coming up,I expect a raft of changes. Young, Shaw, Rooney and Lingard coming back in.
Our midfield situation is dire though. We should have told Schneidelin to stay till the end. Same for Basti

Plenty of changes here I reckon. I'd leave out Pogba and Rashford regardless (well, probably bench them if fit). Valencia and Darmian could well be rested for Celta as well, with Young and Shaw coming in. Rooney and Lingard to return to the starting line-up:

    de Gea
    Young Bailly Blind Shaw
    Herrera Carrick
    Mkhitaryan Rooney Lingard
    Martial
    ---
Romero; Valencia, Darmian, Tuanzebe, Borthwick-Jackson; Willock; Rashford

We could also see Romero in goal in favour of playing de Gea on Thursday night. If we take a win or score draw away from the game in Spain then I think Romero would start the Home Leg as well. Against Celta, I'd expect Valencia, Darmian, Fellaini, Pogba, and Rashford to start in place of Young, Shaw, Carrick, Rooney, and Martial.

Hopefully we can get a couple of goals in the first half and allow us to take off certain players (and play the likes Tuanzebe for 20 minutes+). Really struggling to fill the bench for this if Pogba is out...

Certainly makes good sense to bring most of the bench in.

Lingard, Shaw, Young and Rooney every chance to come in. Hopefully Pogba is back fit and ready too. I know we were playing City away which is a very tough game, but needed more link mid to attack
All these 4 will be starting. Rooney was decent in the game against them this season. We will give Rashford and Micky a rest against the spaniards.

    De Gea
    Young Bailly tuanzebe Shaw
    Blind Pogba
    Lingard Mkhitaryan Martial
    Rooney

Would like to see this team, it's not the strongest but should be enough to grab the win. Not even sure if Pogba is available, but to give him some minutes this game might be good for him and prepare him for Celta Vigo. If we take the lead sub him off at half-time and give Carrick some minutes. The chances of Blind playing CDM are very slim, but he is a reliable player who can play in many positions, and we're awfully short in midfield.

More realistically this is probably the team Jose will pick:
    De Gea
    Young Bailly Blind Shaw
    Herrera Carrick
    Mkhitaryan Rooney Lingard
    Martial

Oh my word, we are thin on numbers, bigtime. This is gonna be a slog, especially with Thurs night in mind.

    ------------------DDG--------------------
    Young-------Bailly----Blind---------Shaw
    -------------Carrick----Herrera----------
    Lingard---------Mkhitaryan--------Martial
    ------------------Rooney------------------

SUBS - Rashford (Martial), Tuanzebe (Bailly), Darmian (Shaw)

    Man United 1 - 0 Swansea City
    Rooney

I'll take any kind of win with no further injury problems, please. A 0-0 wouldn't surprise me at al.

Looking at our injury list, in hindsight, its a mistake to sell Schneiderlin. :(
Swansea will be fighting for their lives so it won't be easy, I won't even be surprised if they come away with a point. The perfect result would be a 3-0, 4-0 to put pressure on Liverpool and City as they play later and close up on our goal difference but I can see a 0-0 again. We just cannot beat mid-table teams at home.

Jose might prefer not to start Carrick in two games in quick succession but needs must. He'll start on Sunday, then give his place to Pog next Thursday.
For those wondering about Carrick's availability, notice it wouldn't be the first time this season Carrick plays two games in one week: he played Arsenal (h) and then Feyernoord (h), although with a five day cushion; but specially he did West Ham (h) and Everton (a), and then also Tottenham (h) and Crystal Palace (a) both just three days later, actually starting again West Bromwich (a) another three days later, in these last games, so 3x90' in six days. The City game must have been hard on his body, though, and we're far up in the season.

We'll mostly play with this now:

    De Gea
    Valencia - Blind - Bailly - Shaw
    Carrick - Herrera
    Lingard - Rooney - Martial
    Rashford
I'm not confident at all with Pogba absent again. Grab the 3 points by any means.

    It's a shame we don't have Schweinsteiger.

I guess it has to be something like

    DDG
    Darmian Baily Blind Shaw
    Carrick Herrera
    Young Mkhitaryan Lingard
    Rooney

"The other small injuries – Pogba and [Antonio] Valencia in the last week - are injuries due to fatigue and the accumulation of matches, which is normal."

    Valencia is out too? F…

    Hell no.

With this rate we'll finish the season playing with U-21 team.
