We’ll defo need the squad depth next season if we’re competing in Europe too.
I think we're fine apart from obviously central midfield and probably a young attacker to throw into the mix. Then we'd have 20-21 senior outfield players.

    Maz Dalot Shaw Dorgu
Maguire De Ligt Heaven Yoro Martinez
    Mainoo Ugarte 2 new midfielders
    Bruno Mount
Amad Cunha Mbuemo Sesko Lacey and a new attacker

Zirkzee sale, Case wages, Rashford sale should help with the 3 signings.

Bench looks poor again. Only Sesko really to come on and make an impact

Same team for me. Yes Sesko did brilliantly when he came on but I don’t think we can drop that front four and actually Mbuemo will give us something in behind vs a rapid VDV and Romero. He’s also doing well coming off the bench for now and provides a different option.

I’d maybe start Mazraoui over Dalot but I do think Dalot is a better right back than he was right winger so it’s not so egregious him playing as before

Full back is a problem. Dalot isn't good enough and Shaw could get injured any time. Also Dorgu seems to be playing better when he's in a more advanced position.

Same side again. As much as I want Sesko to start, didn't think this was the game for it

I don’t like that people refer to control in football as a synonym for lots of the ball. I don’t think that’s true, while that is one method of controlling a game you can control a game of football without the ball.

    Exactly.

Mourinho controlled plenty of games without the ball in his prime.

We were extremely comfortable against Real and felt in control until Nani got sent off.

Simons is their danger man. Up against Dalot too. I worry about that

Dalot starting is beginning to irritate
Why, when he's been good under Carrick.

He was crap under Amorim but so was 90% of the squad. Playing out of position every game didn't help.

He was one of our best players under Ten Hag also.

Dalot starting is beginning to irritate
But he has done a v decent job for Carrick. And I appreciate his loyalty and dedication through the most difficult times. He has earned his place.

My concern is about squad depth. I am genuinely surprised we didn't add, even a Connor Gallgher-like signing during the transfer window and I hope we do not regret that. We may be ok though, with one game a week.

Hope Dorgu can stage some miraculous recovery. And De Ligt.

Mazroui, Sesko, Heaven and Lacey will have big role to play and they present excellent options.

Mason Mount is done at Manchester United for me. He flatters to deceive and availability is clearly an issue.

We need more than just counter punch football. We should be able to control some matches surely. Pep isn't the only manager to coach his teams to play controlling football. Theres nothing wrong with the way we played v city, we need more versatility however..
The day we start playing shite to watch football like ticky tacka Pep is the day I walk away.... fck Pep and his awful football.....

"Control" as most people define it in football is for sh!t, apart from the very early days of the Prem when scores were regularly pretty high and there were some really awful teams, we did not have control like you see a Pep team play, players like Cole, Yorke, Giggs, Sharpe, Beckham, Kanchelskis, Ole even CR7 and Rooney made their bones playing fast transitional football, not saying there were not games where we had most of the possession or did not have "control" but there are different types of control, there is the LVG/Pep bore the opposition to death control, and then there is the control we showed in both City and Arsenal games, against City we were in control for the full 90 mins, against Arsenal probably for about 60 mins, by control I mean dictating the pace of the game, nullifying the opposition and creating opportunities to attack.

Knocking the ball around and around and around whether it is in your own half or the opposition half is dull as dishwater and unless you have some real super star talents will get you very little change because the opposition will just sit in, people get obsessed with "control" and possession, and I would get it if we were being dominated, having to defend with our lives for 90 mins and then sneaking a breakaway goal here or there, but that is clearly not what is happening.

There's certainly both pace and skill in that Spurs side that can do some damage, regardless of how their manager organizes them. We might be looking at an uncomfortable afternoon here.

    Another super post!

Disappointed to not see any wide attacker on that bench. Full set of a substitute backline, but no Lacey.

Perhaps judge him on his performances under Carrick.
This really, he’s been playing his natural position and doing well.

He has to play himself out of the team. While he’s playing well it’s daft to drop him.

Also who else who’ll high 5?! Exactly!

I completely agree with pretty much every word you have written here.

Stronger looking Spurs side than their recent games. We'll need to be better than last week to win this.

Hmmm I think Mbeumo upfront will struggle against VDV and Romero

Would have started Sesko for this one, plus he more than deserves it surely.

    This x10
Genius players they might have been but watching that endless Xavi, Iniesta, Messi recycling of the ball used to bore the 7i7s off me.
