Should be more than a match for West Ham. Doubt Jose would want to play Mitchell in a game he feels he must win, but the lack of anything from Darmian is frustrating.
Zero chance of Mitchell playing barring injuries to Blind and Darmian.

Would love to see a diamond midfield ala Madrid.

We don't have any winger as it is anyway.

    Dave
    Valencia - Bailly - Lindelof - Blind
    Matic
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mata
    Lukaku - Martial

Just read this stat and found it incredible!

Jose Mourinho has never lost a home match on a Sunday in all competitions in his managerial career (W86 D26).

That's probably Sunday jinxed now but I had to share!! :nervous:

No need to lose for that. Merely a draw would be enough to bring back the nightmares of last season...

Sure hope to goodness we win, and win convincingly.

We should play 4-2-3-1 at home especially against teams like WHU. With the fullbacks we have, we won't score enough goals nor will we create enough chances in 4-3-3/3-5-2.

*4-3-3 for the bigger games. Home at OT we should be more attacking

I really can't take a draw in the first game. Please win!

Thank fork the league is back. I bloody hate pre-season, time to get stuck back in although I'm not too optimistic...

SUBS - Mata (Mkhitaryan), Rashford (Martial), Lingard (Herrera)

Manchester Utd 2 - 0 West Ham Utd

Lukaku just before half-time and a late goal from Mata. Mediocre performance overall.

Is Blind injured for this one ?

Just wondering what's the reasons that most people here chose Darmian over Blind ?

And why 4-3-3 over 4-2-3-1 ? I thought Jose prefer 4-2-3-1 against small teams ?

    Team I think we'll see:

    De Gea

    Valencia Bailly Smalling Darmian
    Matic
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Lukaku Lingard

    Subs: Rashford, Mata, Fellaini
Would be very surprised if Lingard starts. I know he's a Mourinho favourite but he didn't have a great game against Madrid and Mourinho's not stupid, he knows Martial/Rashford are better attackers. Also we're playing West Ham, not Real Madrid, so we don't need anywhere near as much cover.

1 win for us in 5 games, doesn't bode well. Although I am quietly confident that we will win.

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Jones Darmian
    Matic
    Pogba Herrera
    Rashford Lukaku Mkhitaryan

You been living under a rock since May 2016? We're not that boring anymore.
    It's not about being boring.
It's more about our inability to put the ball in the back of the net.
Lukaku is a straight replacement for Ibra. I don't expect our other attackers to score, so the whole responsibility will fall on Lukaku.

Mkhi and Mata have both scored plenty of goals in the past for us. Pogba is set to break the woodwork curse, Matic has decent strike on him, as does Lingard.

That's without mentioning Martial and Rashford.

    Oh and Felli

These kind of excuses need to stop. Hitting the woodwork is a miss.

It's crucial we don't drop points here, no excuses whatsoever.

Can someone suggest a nice river I can have a swim in and a drink from? Or rather, a location/area in which I might find such a river?

    Wanna be prepared.

It's not an excuse, he won't hit the bar or the post as much this season as last season was a freak one off.

Yes hitting the bar or the post is classed as a miss, but come on it's quite close to going in isn't it? And I'm certain he'll get more goals this year.

West Ham are usually tough opposition, and our home record from last season wasn't enthralling in the slightest. But it's a fresh season, and I think the players will feed off the buzz around OT. We are one of the last teams to play so no doubt we want a strong first performance to put that marker down.
