Shaw needs to be rested, so Dalot has to cover for him.

    .............. Heaton (Henderson?)

    Bissaka - Bailly - Lindelöf - Dalot

    ............... Donny - Matic

    Sancho........ Mata ....... Lingard

    .................. Martial

Be funny if that Lingard lad
Scored the winner and this place imploded again

How far off is Rashford? Been training for a few weeks now hasn't he? Should give him some minutes as a sub.

October was the date for a return and I don’t see the rush.

WHU won’t play a full strength side for this either. They haven’t a squad for 2 games a week

Something like this for me. Ole never rests Maguire. Heaton if Henderson isn't fit.

Elanga then would be a good shout he played well preseason. I'd like to see a 442.
If Mata is not playing games like this, its pointless to have him in the squad. He is a decent squad player. He will combine well with the likes of VdB, Sancho, Lingard and Martial.

Elanga can come off the bench.

Respectable league cup lineup there. Maybe Mata in for Greenwood.

We need a massive rotation for this game.

Side note: but one reform I would make to English football is excluding every team that is playing in European competition from the League cup.

Anyway, I hope we rotate and rest all our key players. It could backfire but who cares? Today was much much more important for us.

I assume Telles isn't ready yet but we really need to rest Shaw for this one anyway. If we're comfortable in the second half it would be nice to see Amad and Mejbri too.

    -----------VdB-------Mejbri----------
    Sancho-----Martial-----Lingard

This probably won't happen but I'd like to see 4-3-3 and Mejbri be given a chance.
Id love to see this. Maybe even Elanga instead of Lingard too but I think he’ll start. Get those valuable minutes for Martial, VDB, EB, Dalot Lindelof, Heaton, Telles etc

Id like us to get as many games as possible in this competition to flex the squad and hope some of the fringe lads pick up form.

I'm in the minority who still love cup competitions and see winning trophies as worthy even if they're not the PL or CL.

So the team that I'd like us to pick would be a lot stronger. However, the weakened team I expect us to send out would be something like...

    Heaton / Henderson

    AWB
    Lindelof* / Maguire
    Bailly
    Dalot

    Van de Beek
    Matic

    Sancho
    Lingard
    Martial

    Greenwood

*Lindelof wasn't in matchday squad today so not sure if he's injured.

I'd prefer to see us put out a much stronger starting XI against tough opponents - as I'm desperate for our first trophy under Ole and don't want us to throw one of our chances away this early. But that's the level of selection I'm expecting.

    1. Seems like Hannibal's injured.
    2. It'd be suicidal to play him there. Especially with Donny.

If Cavani and Telles are not ready: Henderson/Heaton, AWB, Bailly, Lindelof, Dalot, Donny, Matic, Greenwood, Lingard, Sancho, Martial.

Henderson/Heaton, Varane, Shaw, Fernandez, McT, Bruno, Mata, Elanga, Shola.
I'd just leave Harry, Pogba and Ronaldo at home.

I didnt notice him in last week training as well. Is this confirmed though?

He always seems to get injured at the wrong time

Hopefully we see Cavani, Telles and Rashford back.

    3. It’s the Carabao Cup. Who cares.

Rotate the squad as needed and get the youth some chances like SAF did rather than treating it like a real trophy ala Jose.

Or plays Fred as left back to rest Varane (probably shit idea). Anyway, I care more about PL or UCL. And also Moyes will rest lot of his players since he played 7 same players in his XI in both our game and the Europa league, I will be surprised if he doesn’t rest lot of his main XI.

We need to make sure Dalot gets a full 90 so he can be in the groove for Villarreal

Ole stated after yesterday's game Lingard would start. I expect

    Heaton (if Dean isn't fit)
    Dallot, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles
    VDB, Matic
Jadon, Mata, Lingard (though I prefer Greenwood, Lingard, Jadon)
    Martial

I'd like to see Cavani of course if he can play.Jadon needs minutes to adapt, and Maguire is always there, though I wouldn't mind if Bailly starts here. If Hannibal is ready I'd love to see him at some point. As always is f**** Carabao Cup, rest all main players, and if we advance to the final stages then play them to win the trophy.

Of course massive rotation for this one, with strong bench.

Nothing confirmed. But he missed last games, so must be injured.
Someone here said that he was limping (or smth similar) at the end of the game against Arsenal.

    Predicted Lineup:

    Henderson

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Dalot

    VDB Matic

    Sancho Lingard Elanga

    Martial

Bench: Heaton, Bailly, Fernandez, McTominay, Fernandes, Greenwood, Ronaldo
Have Bruno, Mason and Ronnie to come on if we're losing and need a goal. If we are losing I expect us to bring them on. If we're winning, I think we'll see Fernandez in for AWB with Dalot switching wings, Bailly for Maguire and McTominay as the other sub. Prediction 2-1 (Lingard, Elanga)

I dont want to see a dull new first 11. I want to see a mixed first 11 that could work in PL as well so potensial first teamers can get some game time with settled first teamers.

I think we're mostly all in agreement that it's not the worst thing in the world if we end up losing this one. We've got bigger fish to fry. I understand the point we need to start winning stuff but this cup is just so long and tedious. It doesn't help City are given byes every round while we Traveller ourselves out against the top teams.
