Actually think Cunha has been relatively good for us in the game's I have seen. His hold up play and dribbling is phenomenal.

Why would JZ ever work harder and feel motivated? He needs to build on this and if he isn't doing the business he get's subbed off and Cunha comes on with a point to prove

The guy was crying about playing time and gets it, that should give him motivation and reason to work harder. But then delivers basically same poor performance in back to back matches (but scores in one). He was a bit better after the goal, but a bit better for him that match was less shit and also Palace lost all their energy so no wonder he was a bit better, they gave him a bit more time on the ball, which he didn't do much with btw. He shouldn't be a starter for our club, hell even as a backup it's a tough sell.

Really harsh to drop Zirkzee for Cunha when Cunha hasn't lit the world alight either, do think meritocracy is crucial and for now JZ deserves to start surely?
It doesn’t matter. What matters is the team, and it’s more beneficial for the team to play Cunha over Zirkzee, as Cunha is a much better footballer

I would pick Cunha over Zirkzee but the latter should be getting more minutes. In the last two games he looked like a decent player who really needs more game time. He was rusty but it really looked more like a confidence/match fitness thing more than anything.

I think is pretty harsh to expect him to come in from the cold and hit the ground running, especially when others, including Cunha, haven't done so.

Unfortunately, though, he isn't generally the kind of player that makes a big difference off the bench. We need a speedy attacker type for that.

I wonder if Thursday will be too soon for Cunha.

It might be tempting fate to play Mount again so soon after 90 minutes.

    Tricky.

Looks like Yoro needs a little bench time, I hope Maz starts.

I doubt he drops Zirkzee for Cunha after the goal and link up play, but I would for sure play Cunha if healthy and have Zirkzee come off the bench. Mount is a must start.

After his comments about Dorgu, Dalot will keep starting. Stating the obvious, we drastically need a new WB.

So my ‘West Ham and Wolves next’ thread was deleted.

    Apparently due to insufferable whining?

Been told to use the match day thread instead, but it’s a different topic of discussion.

Don’t understand threads being fully deleted especially when there was plenty of varied comments.

They have a blueprint to borrow from the Everton match to frustrate us so we can't be so fecking passive again. An aggressive, high tempo performance is needed.
For me they will low block. Then it’s about us switching players flanks and channels when they do they to confuse them and actually play with 1 2s. Or watch every single goal against a low block and study the hell out of it

I'd say it's a must-win and no excuses for Amorim blah blah blah but the club long ago established that there are no consequences for underperforming so what's the point. We'll either win, lose, or draw, and it's on to the next one.

Fully expect them to sit back and defend deep with numbers and hope to hit us on the counter

Start with this, and thankfully we can bring Cunha on 2nd half.

I really do want to see Shaw as LWB.

I can see Mount dropping for Cunha and they both sharing the minutes considering Mount is injury prone and Cunha is coming back from injury

Cunha back in training, I'd personally start him over Zirkzee. But Cunha might be a better and more impactful player to bring than Zirkzee.

We need to get Zirkzee plenty of minutes in him before the Afcon as we’ll be relying on him. Cunha from the bench I think, but I reckon he’ll try to get more of the players we’ll need during Afcon on the pitch later in games to try to build some momentum. So we might see the likes of Mbeumo subbed for Cunha/ Mount if we can get games sewn up with time to spare.

I hope Cunha is genuinely fit enough to start and RA picks him instead of feeling compelled to offer his place to Zirkzee (off the back of his goal).

I'm desperate for us to trash a team... gimme at least 5-0!
Even when we go 2/3 up we’ll always concede 1/2 goals to make it harder for ourselves. Like the game against Brighton. We should have smashed them but let them have 2 goals

Feel like you have to start Zirkzee again, and generally id never go without either Sesko or Zirkzee. Cunha and Mount can compete for the 10 spot but we need Zirkzee gaining some confidence as he'll be needed over the next week's.

Amorim never starts those coming back from injury or joining from other clubs. Cunha will be a late game sub appearance at best. The only player he’ll change is probably Maz for Yoro.

So now Cunha sucks? He has been fantastic, moving the ball swiftly, making runs, taking players on, been a bit unlucky with some of the shots but he's far better than Zirkz who scored all of one goal (nice one tbf)

Getting Everton vibes from this. Please win at any costs. Show that you want to win. No dawdling over the ball. If we show intent we will win easily.

    Lammens

    Maz
    de Ligt
    Shaw

    Amad
    Bruno
    Case
    Dalot

    Mount
    Cunha

    Zirkzee

    --------------

I haven't liked Mbeumo's last 2 performances, 30 minutes off the bench against a tiring West Ham should be a good way to use him. Get the win then have him and Cunha start against Wolves.

Good point. I feel like we can win, but also maybe lose or draw depending on how many goals we score and concede on Thursday.
So if we score more than them then there's a chance we'll actually win the game? (I couldn't find a fifth four letter word beginning with th to keep the run going in the sentence).

I’m hoping the Everton game was the shock the lads needed to go into this game with aggression and purpose.

I'd change it up slightly in terms of the line-up.

    Lammens
Mazraoui - De Ligt - Shaw
    Amad - Casemiro - Bruno - Dalot
    Mbeumo - Mount
    Cunha
Or whatever works best in terms of who actually plays the false nine position. I think Dalot deserves to start again, based on what we saw against Palace. Cunha has to come in to provide a bit more quality, and I think having Mazraoui on the RCB position provides more quality in the build-up. Finally, I wouldn't be against dropping Zirkzee despite his goal. We need the best players on the pitch, and it's a different challenge against a side likely to play deep.

Desperately need a convincing free scoring win soon to boost our GD, and this should really be it.

Not saying it will be, mind. Likely 2-1 or something.

Got to be winning this one.

Liverpool were ripe for the taking & West Ham totally blew it, have to beat WHU, no ifs, buts or maybes.

You don't want much do you? We couldn't boost our GD against 10 men Everton at home for 80+ minutes.

Wasn’t stating a want or expectation but rather a desperate need

Thought everton at home is an easy win and got disappointed. Let’s not make the same mistake again. Full on attack needed

Might be good for us to have another game a little bit quicker, might be easier for us to carry some momentum from the palace game.

Time to try Shaw at wingback even if it’s just for 60 mins. Get Martinez in and our build up play instantly looks miles better
