West Ham United Football Club nicknamed The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football; are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London; and were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks - a strictly amateur football club. They turned professional in 1898 upon entering the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt. Following growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900 Thames Ironworks F.C. was disbanded, then almost immediately relaunched on 5 July 1900 as West Ham United F.C. West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961, leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname 'The Academy of Football' pays homage to the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivalries involve local clubs Millwall, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur; and they have been playing their home games at The Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) since 1904, with a plan to move into the Olympic Stadium by the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

    De gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Rojo
    Carrick Schweinsteiger
    Mata Young
    Memphis Martial

Not sure with that. If Rojo is still injured then Young at left back and then Rooney I guess will play. Carrick and Schweinsteiger should both play probably in the next game as they're our best passers and will have the full week off. Memphis and Martial I'm hoping play up top together, as I think that could work very well and actually give us some pace. Memphis looks about 100x better as part of a striking pair then he does on the left so hopefully he plays up there.

We don't exactly have a lot of cover on the bench to deal with the injuries. Ideally, I'd have Shaw left back, maybe Valencia at right back while Darmian adapts and improves his attacking game, and Herrera in for Young or something. They're all injured though.

Being at home I think we'll win though.

I really hope Herrera's back for this.

With Rooney potentially out for this, I would love to see:

    -------------- De Gea
    Darmian - Smalling - Blind - Rojo
    - Schweinsteiger - Schneiderlin
    Mata ------- Herrera ---- Memphis
    -------------- Martial

Considering we could be 4th, just 1 point off 5th, then that this means this is a must win.

Not only that this game shadows what IMO should be LVG's most important game yet against Wolfsburg so we should ideally be going into it on a high

I see goals in this one. 2-0 for a comfortable..boring win for us.
Yeah. That's what I thought about the PSV game. But, hey, we have to be right at some point.
So, I'll also go with a boring 2-0 win.

Nothing suggests this will be anything other than the usual borefest. Probably will give it a miss and watch Motd later.

    Mata Herrera Young

    Martial
That's what I'd like to see depending on the fitness of some players, obviously if Rooney's fit he'll start because he's untouchable and Schneiderlin might play instead of one of the two central midfielders. Let's hope we don't see 3-5-2 again.

I hate 3pm kick-offs, we play slow enough without watching through a stop-start stream!

I hope Lingard will be available and Rojo, so we can ditch the 3-5-2 shit. Beyond that I expect we'll field the usual with Rooney at the center of the attack and Mata moving around slowly from the right.

west ham have been sort of a giant killer this season. 9 points away to liverpool, arsenal an city. could be very tricky.

that said we'll probably make this a borefest with another 0-0 to our collection.

If Herrera and Lingard are not back, then replace them with Schweinstieger and Young

It's becoming pointless me predicting results, the last 5 games I've just gone 1-0 to us, simply because they are teams we should be beating but can't see us scoring more than 1 in 90 minutes unless OG shows up.

Their form his nosedived a bit recently, without Payet they don't look half as good as they did before. Keep Sakho quiet and that's half the battle, not worried about Carroll at all.

Sakho will most likely be injured, reports that he is out for a couple of months. With Payet and Sakho out there is really no excuse for dropping points.

I'll be going to this game. Hoping for some goals this time! Last two visits have been 0-0 draws.. Chelsea at home in 13/14, Rangers at home in 10/11.

No Payet and no D. Sakho, this really shouldn't be a problem for United.

We have no pace going forward and are so easy to defend against. Teams just sit back and let us knock it around.

Yet, Payet and Sakho still have a greater chance of scoring than Mr Rooney. It's not a question of whoever is missing for the opposition these but what is perpetually missing from us.
