West Ham United Football Club nicknamed The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football - are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London; and were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks - a strictly amateur football club. They turned professional in 1898 upon entering the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt. Following growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900 Thames Ironworks F.C. was disbanded, then almost immediately relaunched on 5 July 1900 as West Ham United F.C. West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961, leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname 'The Academy of Football' pays homage to the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivalries involve local clubs Millwall, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur; and they have been playing their home games at The Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) since 1904, with a plan to move into the Olympic Stadium by the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

We do like letting our anger out in the prediction system on here. 15% go for 5-0 to West Ham

Going to be a tough one. If we play anything like we did tonight then we are going out. Not massively confident.

Another loss. Another game to be love we "live in the past" to expect Old Trafford to be a fortress. Louis Van Gaal will continue as manager.

I'm deluding myself but I hope after we lose to WHU on Sunday this cnut will be gone. Not that I want us to lose, mind, but that's how the things will unfold. We ain't got shit on how WHU play, playstyle and mentality together.

Definitely 2-0 West Ham. They're just a better team then we are and the game perfectly suits them. Hopefully, this game and then the Liverpool one a week from now are all that's needed to seal LvG's fate, because I can't see us doing well in any of them. Either way, he won't be here next season, and since I expect nothing from LvG's United, they all feel like glorified friendlies more or less. But if he gets sacked then we might actually have some hope to do something.

Anyway, more or less the same team as today, but with Herrera in for Fellaini. Is Mata suspended for this one, or the next league game?

West Ham are great in top-table games. 3-1 to them.

Thank Mata is suspended for this. I just want the season over. It is wearing me down.

I've not entirely lost faith, so while I don't believe we'll score, I'm fairly certain we'll avoid conceding double digits. Going with a prediction of 0-5, mainly because that's the upper limit.

Payet will have the best day of his life.

I think we're knackered. The players look out on their feet and players coming in are either well short of fitness or young lads.

To say we're in a dire situation is an understatement. I'm losing interest, I'm seriously considering ignoring United till the end of the season if we go out of both cups. I can't take a minute more of the football being produced, it's so bad.

    In favour of MUFC winning
The game is at OT, where we are strong. So I would place us as favourites to win.

    In favour of MUFC losing
What is going against us is that our first team is crap and if we play our first team, we could lose.
    They lost against Sunderland.
Then injuried happened and we played lots of kids.
The first teamers returned against WBA...which we lost.
The next game, against LFC....we lost.

    Conclusion
If we play lots kids, we'll most likely win.
If we play our first team, a loss could well be on the cards. Our first team are specialists in losing.

    Ddg
    Varela Smalling Blind Darmian
    BFS Morgan
    Lingard Herrera Memphis
    Martial
Yep, that team right there. They'll lose.

    De Gea
    Varela--Smalling--Blind--Rojo
    Schweinsteiger--Fellaini
    Lingard--Herrera--Martial
    Rashford

subs: Romero, Darmian, Fosu, Valencia, Carrick, WeMemphis

But I would rather see Fosu, Pereira, Memphis and arguably Januzaj start.

    De Gea
    Varela--Smalling--Fosu--Rojo
    Schweinsteiger--Herrera
    Pereira
    Lingard--Martial--Memphis

I would rather mix it up a little

    West Ham H
    Liverpool H
    City A
    Everton H
    Spurs A
    Villa H
    Leicester H
    Norwich A
    Bournemouth H

It's hard to see how he will survive to the Villa game. But at that point what be the point in sacking him as the season would already be dead

I went for 2:0 to West Ham too. We're dire and they're actually not bad at all at present. Van Gaal will stay regardless of this result (or any others), so I hope we can grow some balls for this one and turn it on a bit in spite of him.

They are a brilliantly managed team with some excellent players, and are in prime form. One of the more enjoyable teams in the league. Pace, power, guile...the whole nine yards.

Can't see us winning. A draw at best.

Can't look past WHU's giant killing spree for this one, if we can even be considered footballing giants anymore:(

Honestly, I think a lot of neutrals are going to be expecting West Ham to win this one. As well as that, I think a lot of the talk in the media will be about the consequences of United losing this one.

And for that reason, I think MU will win. Could easily see a little bit of pressure/complacency getting to West Ham and, mixed with the inevitable United reaction after tonight, I think yous will go through.

Manager needs to show the balls and drop the most underperforming players.

I think we will play our usual, pointless, mis-passing football. West Ham will have 4-5 chances. They ll score 2. We wont make any decent chances and will exit gracefully.
