Improvement through coaching alone will take a long time so I can’t understand people already saying RR is shit.

Some of us did say long ago that no amount of good coaching will sort our midfield out and it’s so obviously true. CM is the key to everything. If the midfielders can get in the right positions and stop giving it away, the rest of the team will follow. Everyone else is shitting themselves because they know we’re being bossed in CM.

Most interesting thing about the last hour: GTA V is still getting new DLC.
Wait really ? What's the source of this ? I'm actually asking seriously, not joking. Want to know.

Feck this match by the way.

It isn't Rangnick's fault our midfield is shit, he inherited McTominay, Fred, and Matic.

Wolves must pray they play us every week. It’s only game they ever look like they’re a very good football team

MCT has been awful so far. Can't even remember how many times he misplaces a pass. And Ronaldo hold up play is awful, keep getting dispossess. The thing I don't remember him being so bad.

The silver lining is Phil Jones is playing really well, almost feels like a new signing. AWB has a couple nice crosses in too and Greenwood should have had a goal if only Cavani had passed.

I'd really like to see us playing with more tempo and actually, you know, start to press the opposition. Like what we were told was going to happen under Rangnick.

We look uninterested and shockingly sloppy, once again.

Jones unironically in for MOTM with DDG, thus far.

Ralf's football seems reliant on very mobile, good ball playing midfielders and attackers who can press all game long.

We are pretty much devoid of any player who can do that.

We can’t keep playing a 2 man midfield in modern day football
    This makes no sense
I thought this guy was was tactical genius
Can people stop blaming our midfielders, we can’t keep playing 2 against 4 in midfield
To be fair it’s more like 1 in midfield as the partner is rarely there to make an offer or back the other one up.

Matic spends a lot of time flipping in to defence which isn’t bad but he doesn’t then do enough to get back in position or make the offer.
MCT is McT. He’s not going to run a midfield as it’s just not his thing.

It's bizarre, we don't get the benefits of the 4-2-2-2 in winning possession back more quickly and we suffer all the negatives of being so narrow and crowded out with this narrow system. Not happy that we have kept this formation for so many games now when it's clearly not working in the final 3rd.
The only rationale for using the system is that he has used it before. Doesn't exactly say much for his tactical flexibility. You would expect a competent director of football type figure to think about whether an interim manager could quickly implement a system that wod suit our players before appointing them

United are fecking shite at hiring managers. Why hire a gegenpress manager mid season just to play like the previous manager ? If its impossible for Ragnick to teach his style at this moment in time or if the players doesnt suit it, get a fecking proper manager like Conte so we have a proper chance at top 4.

Difficult to put your finger on what it is. No confidence? Poor attitude? It’s obviously a talented team which only serves to magnify just how dysfunctional it is.

The absolute basics that even teams trying to stay in the league have, are missing.
it’s the formation to start. Who is creating play? Who on this pitch knows how to do that? We are so random, disgusting

yeah it doesn’t work in this league, the reason NO other teams do it
wonder how long RR will try sticking to it

    Find a pass midfield.

Sancho pisses me off, all those years watching Giggs and Beckham get up and down the wings, start attacks from deep, and do it in the final 3rd and so many of these modern wide forwards only want to play in the final 3rd.
    Yeah we were spoilt :(

In what sense? He sure knows how to talk a big game but the lack of common sense in his squad selection in terms of lack of complementing profiles suggest he’s as good as his CV suggests. Which isn’t great.
He’s dropped Bruno and now Fred. But the lack of dropping Maguire or rotating Ronaldo concerns me. Ronaldo isn’t as super human as he thinks and at 36 he has to be rotated to get the best out of him.

It’s more common sense than that - it’s a crop of talented players who just can’t play well together. Cavani and Ronaldo will never fit as a front 2. Fernandes cannot work as a wide attacking midfielder with two strikers ahead of him. Rashford isn’t a no.9. Sancho is a link-up player but the central midfield and the strikers aren’t players who are renowned for give-and-gos. Two fullbacks who are expected to play very high when neither are particularly good with their delivery.

The tactical set-up and formation is exacerbating issues rather than hiding the massive blemishes this side have.

This is what I midfield produces. For all the talk of Scott being good last game this tonight is what happens FAR too often when we have him and players like Matic on the pitch.

We’ve ZERO control of the game and they offer no real protection for the back four.

Aside from Fred (who should be playing as he was our best player before being dropped) Midfield needs entirely scrapping and an entirely new set brought in.

Yup it's Ronaldos fault our attacking players can't make a 5 meter pass.
We need mobile players. We are mid table team at best right now we aren’t capable of carrying him and hoping he can do something.

If you didn’t know any better you’d say Sancho is a worse version of Dan James he’s been absolutely shite all season let’s be honest

If Bruno is coming on next, it has to be for one of the two strikers rather than Sancho (because Greenwood should definitely not come off!)

Ragnick is going to need to understand that we cannot play this system with this midfield and the lack of desire this team play with. If he doesn’t I’m going to start thinking he’s an idiot.

Ragnick has been all talk so far. We've just been a bit more structured that we were under Ole and that's it but we are still shite.

    Mouth Ragnick.
    Barely been 2 months.

Swear half this forum expected him to wave a magic wand and all our troubles be over

We are making Wolves look like a world class football team. A lot of hard work needed here.

Pretty painful viewing. We can't keep the ball and can't control the game.

As we know, we have a lot of technically limited players, especially in midfield, and the 4-4-2 system isn't helping us maintain possession - getting an extra body in there might at least give us some more passing options.

442, 4231, 433, 532 does it really matter if no one can pass a ball? The formation may not help, but we should look way better either way
I agree. The basic footballing skills of our players leaves a lot to be desired. So many misplaced passes, under-hit passes, over-hit passes, poor decision making, slowness when getting back, slowness when moving up the pitch, etc.

We could put 5 in midfield and I still don't think we'd be out of our half.

At this point we can't keep blaming the lack of this or lack of that, we know what we are and we know what we have, play a system that works with what you have.

Carrick, Mcenna, Ole all gone, and this what happens when the change is to instant, whole new set of ideas, Phelan what's he now? Looks like an expensive water boy. CM needs to be tighter another body in there, Bruno on Matic off, and don't give the fecking ball away in easy positions.
