I don't know, does any top club recruit youngsters like Dorgu and have them play 100% of available minutes without any backup/rotation whatsoever? Clubs would be fine with 15 players if that was the case
Dorgu literally sat out three matches recently through suspension.

Bayindir to have a solid game but concede 2 goals; one to a set piece, the other to a sloppy mix up between defence and midfield. Neither will be his fault.

Jay Z to start, but sees little of the ball in the first half. When he does, his weaknesses are evident with a lack of pace, strength and mis-hit passes. Gets hauled off after 65 mins with all of us moaning once again that he isn’t cut out for the PL.

Ras to replace Jay Z and frustrate us as usual with poor positioning, mid-controlled touches and falling over… rounded off with an air shot from 6 yards in the 93rd minute.

Bruno rallies the team in the second half and scores a deflected right foot strike into the bottom corner to pull a goal back.

    Finishes 2-1 to Newcastle.

Ow that would be great if Amass gets a start. Hope the rumour is true.

Nothing game for United, so give the fans something different to watch and play some of the kids...love it!

Head say Toon, heart Yanited. As always. But I have the dread for these games with this group.

Let's hope the rumours are true and Altay plays well. Need Onana gonna ASAP.

    Come on United.

    Whose Jay Z?

Very excited to see Altay and Amass, and hopefully Mainoo and Mount too. Hope all 4 do themselves proud. All their positions are very open for the end of this season and next season too.

    Thats the spirit :smirk:
Or we could get behind the team, just a thought.
It's a shame the same logic wasn't applied to Onana in the previous game. It felt like most of our fans were willing him to make a mistake!

    Harry Amass is starting.

Finally have a reason to watch today. Great news. Tough place to get the debut but its all good. I've always thought he was tailor made to be a wing back in this system and I think he's better on the ball than Dorgu. Hopefully he goes well and this is the start of more appearances the rest of the season.

Going to be tough today, a win for the Toon and they will be looking good for champions league. Come on you Reds.

Nice to see the news about Amass starting. Giving Bayindir a shot in a largely meaningless game is a good decision. He should keep his place if he performs well. Hope Mainoo, Mount and Shaw get some match fitness too.
    Whose Jay Z?
    Joshua Zirkzee I presume.

Hopefully Bayindir has a blinder and keeps his spot and that Onanas agent actually finds a new club for his client.

I'm worried we're running young players like Yoro and Dorgu into ground as usual
I'm not too worried about these two. CBs aren't going through anywhere near the work midfielders or wide players are every game, Yoro got some breaks due to injuries, and his style of movement off the ball is quite economical.

Dorgu got a break because of his suspension. And although he's only 20, he's physically pretty mature. Doesn't have that teenage body where overwork whilst still developing will cause problems. Worth keeping an eye on but no cause for concern just yet in my opinion.

Amass starting is a surprise. Didn’t see any mention leading up to this game. Where’s Dorgu?

Good, no Onana, hope Bayindir has a fantastic game and is used til the end of the season (I don't see him as a long term number 1 but if he could just be solid til the end of the season it would help)

First 20-25 will be key here. Liverpool (this season) and Arsenal who we played very well against under Amorim are lower tempo teams typically and it played into our hands because it allowed us to settle into the match from a mentality perspective. Newcastle won’t do us the same favor.

Højlund on the bench. We have a chance.

League season has been over for a while (apart from getting a few extra quid in prize money, which probably does matter to Ineos actually) so we might as well give Amass a start. It used to be a tradition to give academy players a run-out in the last league game of the season if there was nothing to play for, but I can see why we’d be doing that earlier this season
