Nottingham Forest Football Club (nicknamed The Tricky Trees or The Garibaldi) is an association football club based in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England. The club was founded in 1865 when a group of players met at the Clinton Arms on Nottingham's Shakespeare Street, and J. S. Scrimshaw's proposal to play football instead was agreed. At the same meeting that the club would purchase twelve tasseled caps colored Garibaldi Red (named after the leader of the Italian Redshirts freedom fighters). Thus the club's official colors were established. In their early years Forest were a multi-sports club. As well as their roots in bandy and shinty, Forest's baseball club were British champions in 1899. Forest's charitable approach helped clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion to form. In 1886, Forest donated a set of football kits to help Arsenal establish themselves – the then South London team still wear red. Forest also donated shirts to Everton and helped secure a site to play on for Brighton.

In 1878–79 season Forest entered the FA Cup for the first time. Forest's application was rejected to join the Football League at its formation in 1888. Forest instead joined the Football Alliance in 1889. They won the competition in 1892 before then entering the Football League. In 1905, Nottingham Forest toured South America to play a series of friendly matches in Argentina and Uruguay. They would be followed for other English and Scottish clubs that visited the region, contributing to the spread and develop of football in South America during the first years of the 20th century. Brian Clough was appointed manager of Nottingham Forest on 6 January 1975, twelve weeks after the end of his 44-day tenure as manager of Leeds United. Clough brought Jimmy Gordon to be his club trainer as Gordon had been for him at Derby County and Leeds United. The first trophy of the Clough and Taylor reign was the 1976–77 Anglo-Scottish Cup. Forest led the First Division for most of the season and were confirmed as 1977–78 Football League champions after a 0–0 draw against Coventry City on 22 April 1978, becoming one of the few teams (and the most recent team to date) to win the First Division title the season after winning promotion from the Second Division. Subsequently they became one of four English clubs to have won the European Cup/UEFA Champions League more than once and one of two English clubs to have won the competition back-to-back. Forest have two stars above their club crest to commemorate their two European Cup victories.

In total the club has won two European Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, one League title, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and one FA Charity Shield. The club has competed in the top two tiers of English football since its admission to the Football League, with the exception of five seasons in the third tier. Their fiercest rivalry is with Derby County, with whom they contest the East Midlands derby. The two clubs have met a total of 109 times, with Forest claiming the most victories (43), the longest win streak (5), and the longest unbeaten run (10) which runs from the 11th March 2018 to the present day. Leicester City were widely considered to be Forest's main East Midlands rivals prior to Brian Clough's success at both Derby and Forest. The ferocity is now most fiercely felt by fans who live around the Leicestershire-Nottinghamshire border.[citation needed] Forest's other regional rival is Sheffield United, based in the neighboring county of South Yorkshire. They play their home games at City Ground.

That fella better start booking his barbers appointment

Very different type of game and opponent than Brighton,Liverpool. It's going to be full low block from Sean Dyche and as much Shithousery as possible from his team.

    Huge game.

Useful to see how Bournemouth set up against them tomorrow for some more data.

They looked quite good against Porto, who supposedly hadn't lost a game prior to playing Forest, so you'd imagine Dyche will have them playing some effective football. Still, I think we will hopefully have too much for them.

If they go low block and give space to Cunha then they can definitely be punished. I think if we score first then we win this easily as they will have to come out and chase the game.

Unsure of what to expect from them with their managerial change. Any wort of win will do for me. We struggled to break them down last season as they are a very strong team and we were weak as anything. This year will be different.

This is another one I'd expect Amorim to go with the Mount/Cunha/Mbeumo front 3 if Mount is fit. Work rate, passing and runs off the ball. I'd think given Dyche's tendency to sit back that we'll go with Dorgu and Amad on the wings. Just need pace in the defence to avoid the counter attack, but we should walk this one. Wouldn't mind seeing a Bruno/Mainoo pivot for this one. Wouldn't also mind Heaven getting a start but it'll definitely be Shaw

    So possibly

    Mount Cunha Mbeumo

    Dorgu Bruno Mainoo Amad

    Shaw De Ligt Yoro

    Lammens

Has to be same line up. Need sesko in for his size to battle aerially, they will definitely look push that side of the game but sesko can hang with any CB aerially. There's the chance Maguire is back in but they'll be playing on the counter more than we will so Yoro will help us more here.

I don’t like some of the overconfidence in here.

If we don’t sort out of defence, we’ll drop points again.

This will be a different challenge. We will have lot of the ball and need to break their low block. Will be interesting if he goes with Sesko or Mount as both bring in different styles.

What I enjoyed the most last 3 games is we are tactically on point against the opposition. Liverpool had no answer to direct play and Brighton struggled with our press.

A pity Ange has already gone, a good thrashing by us to send him on his way would have been just the ticket.

I'm finally starting to look forward to our games under Amorim. Bring them on.

They look really really bad. Let’s hope they hit some form after they play us. I think we’ll do them.

Might be a Cunha-Mbuemo-Mount front 3 again for this one. The second ball tactic worked quite well vs Liverpool.

Should be an interesting one. They are in free fall but it will the first home game of the new manager. This will be a great test of whether we have turned a corner. The United of the last few years have a habit of losing games like this. Amorim is slowly giving me faith again

Tough game because Dyche will gee up that team after a loss. They'll defend like their lives depend upon it. It will be a rough one. Let's see if we can break them down early and induce anxiety into that crowd.

I don't think anyone expects us to not drop points again the rest of the season, to be fair.

Dyche is going to be angry after today. They have some quality players and can be dangerous, as Porto showed. I'll be happy with a point to keep the recent momentum going.

We'll absolutely smash this lot. We won't lose a game until possibly City or Arsenal in January. By then we'll likely be top or just behind Arsenal. I said it before the Liverpool game we'd beat them go on a long run and end up winning the league. I stand by it.

Jesus, I think I’m a positive guy but wow

It’s one way of looking at it. Probably not good for the heart, but….

Good to see they didn't get a new manager bounce immediately. We really should be winning this game. They are in the relegation spots for other reasons than just Ange.

Don't we expect Forest to sit back?

Part of the reason it worked against Liverpool is that they kinda press, but then end up leaving a big gap between their defensive line and the players pressing which is perfect for picking up second balls.

    How did they play today?
Was a bit worried when they smashed portugals league leader in dyches 1st game

They beat Porto and then lost today so will be desperate for result in league. Dyche won't try to play football like Liverpool and Brighton did so this is surely different challenge. We were decent last time at Forest but conceded from one counter we let them and Murillo and Milenković were fantastic and somehow we didn't score. That's at least how I remember it.

Yeah we deserved a point at least last season. Maguire missed a great chance to equalise right at the death.

Forest scored with their only shot on target I think and we didn't have players the quality of Cunha and Mbeumo to break them down.
