It's harsh to single you out so sorry about that. I did find it weird that so many people were getting so angry watching the game. They'd definitely be better off skipping the Soton game because I fully expect more of the same.
    Yeah, no worries.

I will admit I can get super pessimistic during games, I just hate seeing us do poorly. It's the ultra-competitive side of me.

Will try and tone it down in the match threads.

Why do you find it weird that people are angry? We're in 6th with nothing to play for and we're still playing terrible football. Hardly surprising that people are a bit cheesed off with it all.

Because the result meant feck all. Getting angry over stuff that doesn't matter is a terrible way to spend your time. I couldn't work out why so many people were allowing themselves get worked up about such a non-event.

And yeah (before anyone points out the obvious) football itself is not very important in the grand scheme of things. My point still stands though.

You getting worked up, over people getting worked up, is just as big an exercise in frivolity. Probably more so.

I think we will play with strong team this game and back up reserves for Crystal palace game.

Our first choice players will have week gap between finals and also have some game time.

Against Palace it'll probably be something like (hoping that Jones starts with Blind in the final):

    Pereira
    Olosunde-Bailly-Smalling-Tuanzebe
    Carrick-McTominay
    Mitchell-Rooney-Willock
    Gribbin/Bohui
Surely Carrick will start the final??

So you say something that hasn't even happened is pathetic.
Jose Mourinho came out and said that these remaining games are games he and the players do not want to play.

So yes, I will go out on a limb and say that they will not turn up for the game and that it is a pathetic attitude to have for any Manchester United player or manager.

    I think it'll be:

    Herrera
    Fellaini-Pogba
And looking at the recent performances, I can't disagree with that.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious. Unless Mourinho wanted to try something completely different in which Carrick would be great at, like the two men midfield with Anderlecht away.

In defense and attack there are one or two positions in risk, though.

Perhaps wishful thinking re: Gribbin/Bohui, but still...
No chance. Mourinho already said he won't put 5 kids with 5 seniors because it's not fair on the seniors or the U23s.

For Crystal Palace he menaced he would play a whole Nicky Butt team!

I think in there he was referring to the Arsenal and Tottenham game.

Willock and Olosunde start for U23 tonight, McTominay & Mitchell will probably travel with the first team.

Those two seem to have impressed Mourinho more, or maybe they're just the positions the team needs more.

Anyhow, I don't see none of them making the Southampton squad, at least if Mourinho follows the logic of preparing the first team for the Ajax game, which would make sense to me.

The Arsenal game annoyed me a bit, I hate losing to that lot. But the Spurs game wasnt too bad was it? It was a huge game for them and we very nearly spoiled their party with our second fiddle team.

Don't care about the result (never thought I'd be that indifferent to a game played by my beloved United), just hoping for no more injuries.

Should be playing as close to the Europa League Final XI as possible, as many others have said. Everyone will then skip the Palace game - meaning we can play mainly a U-23 side if possible, with the likes of Bailly, Rooney, and others who won't start the Final also appearing.

    Romero
    Valencia Smalling Jones Darmian
    Herrera Fellaini Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rashford Martial

Yeah that's the lineup i'd go for with Smalling replaced by Blind and maybe Mata for Mkhi, hopefully the Europa final lineup so we can get some cohesion going. Expect to see none of them against Palace and hopefully a debut for Harrop after his performance in front of Jose tonight for the reserves.

Hat trick for Harrop as U23 beat Spurs 3-2. José and his coaching staff watching, hope he makes his full debut on Sunday.

Should be a dress rehearsal for the final this game. Gives us 1 full week to recover and prepare for Ajax.

    Let the ressies play Palace.

Not in the least bothered about this game. Win or lose, we stay 6th. It would be nice to get a few wins under the belt before the finals though. We have not won in our last 4 league games.

As much as I would like to see a few players get a run before the final it does worry me playing certain key players where options are limited such as Valencia , Pogba , Herrera and Rashford as these guys make a big difference when they play . The risk of impact injuries or a slight twist or strain is too high .

Yes, but in what position was he playing? Is he central midfielder/playmaker on the left, like Mkhitaryan? What space would he occupy in our first team against Crystal Palace?

I imagine he'd play on the wing. Probably wishful thinking though.

    Lingard Rashford Mkhitariyan

Predict this team for the final, and I'm guessing Jose will use this game to give them some rhythm. Ideally Mkhi would be on the right with Martial on the left, but I guess we need a gamechanger on the bench if things go to shit.

Me think against Southampton we will get to see a test run of Mourinho's setup and tactics for the EL final.

    As per Mourinho

    Doesn't think Pogba will play.

Blind is rested whilst Fellaini will start and Romero will play one of the final 2 PL games.

    LATEST TEAM NEWS FROM MOURINHO

Jose Mourinho has discussed how he will juggle his resources in Manchester United’s final two games of the Premier League season, in order to be able to field the strongest and freshest available team for next week’s Europa League final.

With a top-four place now out of reach, Mourinho is naturally prioritising next Wednesday’s Stockholm clash with Ajax but has still vowed to pick teams “with the minimum of conditions to fight for a result” at Southampton on Wednesday and at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Paul Pogba won’t be involved at St. Mary’s as he is in France for his father’s funeral, while Daley Blind will be rested after playing the full 90 minutes in United’s last two games, against Celta Vigo and Tottenham Hotspur.

But Marouane Fellaini, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Juan Mata and Anthony Martial are all likely to start against the Saints, and Mourinho added Sergio Romero, his confirmed goalkeeper for the European final, will play in one of the two remaining league games.

The boss also revealed recently he may hand Joel Pereira a Premier League debut before the season is out, while Axel Tuanzebe, Demi Mitchell and Scott McTominay were not involved in the Reserves' win over Tottenham at Old Trafford on Monday, possibly hinting to their involvement.

“I have to build some teams with the minimum of conditions to fight for a result,” Mourinho said. “We lost against Arsenal 2-0 and we fought for the result. We lost 2-1 [at Spurs] and we fought for the result.

“We always want to fight for the result. I don’t want to field a team where people think we aren’t fighting for the result – we are fighting for the result.

“What I want from the players is a positive attitude, good team spirit and the understanding that some guys have to sacrifice themselves for the good of others.

“So I’m going to rotate some people. Blind will not play against Southampton but Fellaini will, because he has not played the last three matches. These are examples of trying not to accumulate [matches] but people have to play because we don’t have other players. I cannot put four or five other kids all together in the fire; I cannot do that to the kids.

“I don’t think Paul has the conditions to play; we will let him be completely free to come back when he thinks he is ready to be back.

“[Martial] didn’t play against Celta because the options were different but he is fine and he is one of the guys that it is very important for him to play 90 minutes. Smalling, Jones, Mata – it is very important for them to play 90 minutes.”

Mourinho also revealed he’s trying to give some of his players a day off at different times of the week, to cope with the busy schedule, though it’s not an easy task.

“I am giving one-day holiday ‘a la carte’, if you understand – Blind one day off, [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan one day off, [Ander] Herrera one day off,” he said. “But the guys who played 90 minutes [v Spurs], I cannot give them one day off if I want them to play versus Southampton because they need two recovery days.

“I’m trying to get people to be the best they can be. This is a period in one week where I have to give one day off, give [Antonio] Valencia a day off. And, against Crystal Palace, two or three more [players], and against Southampton, two or three more. And that’s to try to arrive in the final in the best possible condition.”

Important for us to win this. We need some momentum before the EL final. We have gone 6 matches without a win.

We need to re familiarise ourselves with how to win matches. We need to start thinking about scoring again, no matter what sort of team is put out, because we won't win the EL without scoring. Another drab performance will raise serious questions about our ability to win the EL final.

Also, enough of Rooney in these PL matches. His presence itself gives the signal that we are not interested in anything but a flucky win and we really should be looking to win this at all costs. Any other youth player would do. Atleast they will try their best to win and won't hold the team back.

Listening to the embargoed part of the press conference after the Tottenham game, I feel Mourinho is not going to do what most of us expected, to preview the final in this game.
