Southampton Football Club (nicknamed The Saints) are a professional football club based in Southampton, Hampshire. Southampton were founded in 1885 by members of St Mary's Church of England Young Men's Association. St. Mary's Y.M.A., as they were usually referred to in the local press, played most of their early games on The Common where games were frequently interrupted by pedestrians insistent on exercising their right to roam. More important matches, such as cup games, were played either at the County Cricket Ground in Northlands Road or the Antelope Cricket Ground in St Mary's Road. The club was originally known as St. Mary's Young Men's Association F.C. (usually abbreviated to "St. Mary's Y.M.A.") and then became simply St. Mary's F.C. in 1887-88, before adopting the name Southampton St. Mary's when the club joined the Southern League in 1894.

Southampton play their home games at St. Mary's Stadium, and were one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992. The club has a long-standing sporting rivalry with Portsmouth in a match termed the South Coast Derby or the Hampshire Derby. Southampton has received praise for employing an attractive brand of football under Mauricio Pochettino and more recently, Ronald Koeman, and having one of the best youth systems on English soil - which has produced the likes of Alan Shearer, Gareth Bale, Matth Le Tissier Theo Walcott, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana over the years - as well as current Manchester United leftback, Luke Shaw.

    Gonna be a tough game.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Jones - Blind
    Matic
    Fellaini - Herrera
    Mikhi - Lukaku - Rashford

That's what I predict Jose to play, but will hope to go the ordinary 4-2-3-1 formation, though.

They've had tight games all season long. 4-0 to us.

Hate Southampton away, they are a good side and giving us always a good game when they play at home. Think we will win 2-1

Have been given exec tickets for this game.

So I'll be spending the entire 90 mins sitting on my hands.

Got this horrible feeling we'll trip up here. I was right about that Choupo-Moting twat, I just hope I'm not right here. Might put some money on a Saints win to at least give me some comfort should Utd lose.

If we keep our defense right then we will win. I would start martial ahead of rashford but jose may prefer rashford and I am ok with that too.

Saints struggle to score, there's no excuses if we cock this up.

Will be a tough game. A tight game I reckon. Need to take our chances and cut out individual errors that cost us the game at Stoke. Still feel there's a brain fart during the game by one of our defenders. They've been struggling for goals but every team raises their game against us so that means nothing. This is our toughest game since the Internetional break and the next. Hoping for a professional performance.

Would love to see Martial Lukaku and Rashford in a front 3 with Mykhitaryan playing behind the 3. That is one scary fecking attack

Since Mata and Rashford was taken off early I can easily see us play with the same side that played against Everton. They played well so deserved no doubt. Martial to come off from the bench again.

Surprisingly few who have guessed 4-0 win for us.

Surely the "tough game" talk isn't based on their league form this year

    0-0 draw home to Swansea
3-2 win home to West Ham **
    0-0 draw at Huddersfield
    0-2 loss home to Watford
    0-1 win at Crystal Palace

**They had a man advantage from the 34th minute on and 2 of their goals were penalties and the 2nd penalty came in the 93rd minute. Not to mention they conceded 2 goals while having the man advantage

Martial and Rashford are on fire, Jose might have to find a place for them both in the starting eleven soon.

I can't see us losing, Southampton haven't been very clinical in front of goal this season. Hate going to St Mary's, even though we haven't done too badly there in recent years (it seems that way anyway).

I can't see there being more than 2 goals in this match. Will be a good test for us.

If we are drawing throw on Fellaini and Martial but I thought Herrera had an extremely good game so he should start and although Martial looked fantastic Rashford did get 2 goals and an assist.

I also I think that Mourinho will start with Matic, Fellaini and Herrera. If not, I hope Matic and Fellaini will start.

    2-1 United!

Really should be winning this. I don't expect a thrashing and 2-1 or something would be great. But they aren't that good and can't score for shit so anything other than a win would be a bad sign.

    -------------------------DDG---------------------------
    Valencia----Bailly-------Jones-------Blind
    -------------------Matic---Ander-----------------
    Rashford ---------Mhiki------------Martial
    ----------------------Lukaku----------------------

a lot of pace, movement and understanding from that front 4

wouldn't be surprised to see Young and Lingard start who've both been very impressive

Preferably for this game I'd like to see one of Mata or Mkhi dropped so Rashford can play on the right.

At some point during the season I'd love to see this death lineup below.

    —————De Gea—————
    Valencia—Bailly—Lindelof—Shaw
    —Herrera—-Matic——-Pogba——-
    Rashford—-Lukaku—-Martial

We will hammer any top team with this lineup.

Same lineup as the Everton game. We played 433 versus Stoke and drew the game. So let's just stick to what's working and play 4231 again. I'll start Rashford against the Saints and start Martial against Cska and Crystal Palace.
