Southampton Football Club (nicknamed The Saints) are a professional football club based in Southampton, Hampshire. Southampton were founded in 1885 by members of St Mary's Church of England Young Men's Association. St. Mary's Y.M.A., as they were usually referred to in the local press, played most of their early games on The Common where games were frequently interrupted by pedestrians insistent on exercising their right to roam. More important matches, such as cup games, were played either at the County Cricket Ground in Northlands Road or the Antelope Cricket Ground in St Mary's Road. The club was originally known as St. Mary's Young Men's Association F.C. (usually abbreviated to "St. Mary's Y.M.A.") and then became simply St. Mary's F.C. in 1887-88, before adopting the name Southampton St. Mary's when the club joined the Southern League in 1894.

Southampton play their home games at St. Mary's Stadium, and were one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992. The club has a long-standing sporting rivalry with Portsmouth in a match termed the South Coast Derby or the Hampshire Derby. Southampton has received praise for employing an intense brand of football under Mauricio Pochettino, and having one of the best youth systems on English soil — which has churned out the likes of Alan Shearer, Gareth Bale, Matth Le Tissier, Theo Walcott, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana over the years — as well as current Manchester United leftback, Luke Shaw.

Southampton looked like candidates to go straight back down to the Championship, before the season had even kicked off.
They’ve so far lost their first 3 games.
The’ll be lucky to win 10 games all season.

Who would bet against us giving them their first win of the season ?

Already feels like last season when every fixture looks more difficult than it should. I’m not expecting a lot from next 5 league games and that may be as many as ETH gets.

Thank feck my cousin planned her wedding in Germany on this date. Couldn’t thank her enough :)

Perfect, another midday game to feck up my weekend. Why are we playing two of the opening four, both of them being stupidly long away journeys for the fans.

    ……………..…..Onana
    Maz…..DeLigt…Martinez…Dalot
    ………………...Ugarte
    ……….Bruno…………Mainoo
    Amad………Hojlund……Garnacho

Probably the worst time to play Southampton: 12:30 away after internationals.

What should be a relatively routine win will instead be an absolute slog, and if we somehow do come away with 3 points it will be won by a single goal and done in a very unconvincing manner.

Hard to care about this. We will win and then go and lose at Palace and it continues…

Need to sack Ten Hag tonight and get season started.

This is more our level. Fancy Amad and Höjlund to score here.

This is what I'd say as of today, but knowing us, someone is going to somehow get injured during the break.

They are a hapless club so I think even we will manage to get something out of this, whether that's one point or three remains to be seen.

This won’t be it but I’d rather not see Bruno/Rashford/Casemiro start after today.

    Onana
Mazraoui - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    Amad - Ugarte - Mainoo - Garnacho
    Hojlund - Zirkzee

Some big calls need to be made, if Hojlund is fit by then I would start him ahead of Zirkzee.
Give Bruno hours worth of Paul Scholes footage from 06-08 and tell him to watch these like a hawk.
The only way we can become a good side with Bruno in the team he has to drop deeper and learn to play that role.

From now on I want to see Mainoo-Ugarte tied together in midfield, they should never be more than a few yards apart.

should be a convincing win. Anything different tells us we’re still in last season mode and nothings changed despite all the new signings.

    Tough game this one.
Couldn’t tell if you was being sarcastic or not but the fact a lot of our fans will actually be thinking it’s a tough game shows how far down we’ve gone. If city or Liverpool play them their fans will be like ‘easy 3 pts here’

I hope this is a joke.
