No mixing it up. Strongest team. Go out and win it.
But given form of Mbeumo and Amad, is it really the strongest team now with either of them in? It’s not like people suggest to play Lacey instead of in-form senior forward

Would be great to win this and give ourselves an outside chance of securing 3rd on Sunday. Mind you that involves scousers dropping points to Chelsea and Villa failing to beat Burnley too which looks unlikely.

Not sure who's definitely fit yet, but I'm sure Carrick will be going as close to full strength as possible in this game. If we win this, we probably can't be caught in third place and then we've got two games where Thwaites, Lacey, and/or Obi can come off the bench - maybe even JJ Gabriel for 5-10 minutes against Forest for his Old Trafford debut? But as for this game, I think it's just going to be treated as normal - job not done yet. It would be nice if we do hit 70 points. Touching on Forest though - if they get by Villa in the Semi-Final, our fixture against them is currently pencilled in for 3 days before the Europa League final. It would potentially be brought forward to the Saturday, but no doubt Forest would rest players considering they're effectively safe from relegation now.

    Lammens
    Dalot Maguire Heaven Shaw
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Mbeumo Bruno Cunha
    Sesko

If the injury to Sesko keeps him out, then I'd prefer we gave Dorgu a start if he's ready for one - even if it's just 45-60 minutes and Amad gets another chance from the bench to hopefully find some form. Nice to have Martinez back, but I think Heaven deserves to keep his place for now. I'd bring on Martinez at Left Back towards the end of the game though if Shaw is feeling it (or booked again). Other than that, maybe some minutes for Mount/Zirkzee off the bench as well, but ultimately just win this game. Some of the players who have featured the most all season might get subbed off a bit earlier or be on the bench for a game over the final couple of fixtures (especially if they're going to the World Cup).

Same back 5 and midfield 3. However, up top I'd like to see Cunha, Zirkzee and Amad start. Below to be subbed on:

    Dorgu > Shaw
    Lacey > Cunha
    Sesko > Zirkzee
    Mbuemo > Amad

I think we will lose this one.

This will be Sunderland's biggest game of the year (yes even greater than Newcastle :D) and they will be up for it.

If I am correct, we need 3 points out of the remaining 3 games to be sure about 3rd place.

I will not rotate much, but my idea would be to give playing time to one or two during the game (like Lacey, Mount, Yoro)

He has not played well at left back.

He hasn’t played at left back for us. He played as LWB in a completely different system. But then Dalot played at RWB in that same system and looked garbage, and suddenly looks much better playing at RB in a back 4.

I reckon we'll whip them. 3-1 but never in danger.

Wrap up 3rd spot then give the kids and bench players a chance to show us what they have got or maybe what they haven't :o

I agree. Chances of it happening are smaller than an ants bike, though.

Cunha will start, but Zirkzee is behind both Sesko and Mbeumo in the pecking order at CF, and Sesko is in good goalscoring form so starting him (if fit) makes sense, and as much as I like Amad, you can't blame Carrick for dropping him as his form has been poor for a while now; never mind the Liverpool error.

Id give heaven and yorro a go if they struck up a partnership it could be good for a higher line etc

Would prefer if we went strongest possible team and pushed all the way. Getting over 70 points, finishing with 5-6 straight wins would bring such a positive vibe into the summer.
I imagine it could be a touch easier for Jason to convince some players that has other interesting offers on the table.

Play best team, secure third place and then, only then, extend youth minutes. Lacey should get some minutes though due to the lack of form from Mbeumo & Amad, especially.

People think they have nothing to play for but they’re 2 points ahead of Newcastle with 3 games left.

Yeah and Lacey, gut feeling is Carrick will want to finish third so still going to play strong teams to secure it
My bad been away but yeah I can see the benefits in finishing the season strongly. It feels good to be able to have the option though. Been a while.

Lacey is playing for the 21s this evening

I can see this one being a score draw. Realistically a lot of these players will be keeping something in the tank for the summer ahead, and now CL football is secure, other than trying to get Bruno to the assist record it'll be those on the edge of the first team that will be chomping at the bit to really put a shift in.

I hope i'm wrong and they'll continue to give it their all, I just can't see it. We'll conceed some kind of sloppy goal again to undo the good work is my thinking.

I'm conflicted. I want to finish the season strong, no mercy for the weak, but at the same time the fringe players should get some significant minutes. Have to weigh the psychological impact of losing against the resentment of the fringe players not playing. Carrick spoke of giving some of these players game time, will be interesting to see if that's Carrick mind games.

Which fringe players would you actually be concerned with giving a game though? The ones haven't played much under Carrick who are fit would be the likes of Malacia, Zirkzee, Ugarte, Bayindir, etc. Really not players I worry too much about being disillusioned. They don't have much of a future here. I'd much, much rather see a strong starting line-up and then introduce some youngsters towards the end.

Let’s see how carricks motivational skills are. Already completed our aim for the season… let’s try and finish of strongly

i get the finish strong sentiment, but with it being a world cup year could see a couple of the players trying to maintain their fitness/not get injured. Thankfully i couldnt imagine we have a whole lot going, but really cant blame them if we dont crush it for the rest. Would like to see a couple cameo from maybe a youth player here or there. Get a nice casemiro send off as well.

.....So we don't have to put up with the prick next season."

We should go as strong as possible. 3rd isn't mathematically confirmed and Bruno still needs to get to the record. I'd consider starting Amad just because it's Sunderland, he should get a good reception.

What have they done to United's website?! I can't find anything. These tech people always fiddling with what already works...
Anyway, Bruno to break the record tomorrow, to celebrate the Writers POTY and seal his choice for the PFA one!

Last time United had 3pm Saturday game?

Whatever about Carrick it's hard to know how the players will react in this game and other remaining games with Champions league football already secured.
The last time we had a 3pm Saturday game was six months ago, on 1 November against Nottingham Forest.

Win this. And star tom heaton at the last home game

Think we ll see mount, zirkzee , yoro, maybe ugarte and dorgu get more mins.

Sunderland and Forest will be tough games. More so Forest as Sunderland have dropped off a bit.
We shouldn’t be worried about a team that just got hammered of Villa.

Fringe players include Malacia , Zirkzee and Ugarte who are not wanted by the club and kids whom the best one played for the under 21’s last night. It’s not happening he will play his strongest team.

I would love to see Lacey and Obi getting chances in the last 3 games, but it is not going to happen today, since they both played yesterday.
