Personally, I want to see a little width. Left footed players on the left, and right footed players on the right. So tired of this inverted winger nonsense. People also underestimate the multiplying effect of high workrate players, such as Lingard.

Jones will get some laughs, but I'll tell you what...the one thing that kid has is some serious passion, heart and determination. All virtues sorely lacking these days.

Subs: Johnstone, Rojo, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Rooney, Rashford, Ibrahimovich
Valencia and Smalling are more than likely out, no?

Whoscored thinks that Swansea could nick this, 2:1. I for one don't believe this, it sure is a so-called 'must win'?!

Swansea did almost nothing against Stoke, so they don't pose much of a great threat, do they?

    ................Zlatan...........
    Martial......Mata......Mkhitaryan
    ........Carrick.......Fellaini
    Shaw....Blind....Rojo....Darmian
    ...............De Gea.............

We don't have a better one, IMO. Subs can be -don't know how it goes Rooney, Lingard, Rashford (no.9).

I'm absolutely fuming if we don't win this. This time, i'm thinking about going big with my bet on United. C'mon, one for the fans!

They were good vs City and Liverpool though and could have taken something from both games.

    3-1 to Swansea.

They'll get the opener in the first 20 min after putting us under constant pressure and with the crowding cheering them on.

Heads will drop and a second Swansea goal just before halftime will come.

A second half mini revival from us but we will not score until midway through the 70th to 80th min.

In a desperate surge for a point we will push men forward and get sucker punched on the counter for the 3-1with Bob Bradley grinning like a Cheshire cat and the commentator shouting ''Where else can you see such upsets but the premier league''.

The following week will see the quality of shocking threads in the Caf increase exponentially.
    This.

I'm dreading the team sheet for this one, I think we should be bold and put some faith in TFM and Tuanzebe, but we wont.

    I'm expecting this:

This is going to be a surreal one, as Swansea recently signed a centre back called Mawson, who only 2 seasons ago was with my boys Wycombe Wanderers all season, winning all of our player of the year awards, and being voted top 3 players in the league.

To now see him come up against Ibrahimovic is amazing.
Just hope he doesn't shut him out to continue his incredible development.

Not expecting a win to be honest. Best we can hope for is a draw. If I see Rooney, Fellaini or Lingard anywhere near the starting line up I wont even bother watching

Swansea have 5 points from 10 games. They are 2nd to last in the league, have a goal difference of -9, scored 9 and conceded 18(4th highest in the league). That all goes to shit because Niall made this thread. Swansea to win 5-0.

Can only see a draw at best considering it's an away game in P&L (we've only won 15 of the last 43).

Hopefully Carrick plays as we are far better with him than without, but our defence is in disarray.

Didn't we lose to a relegation zone team around this time last season?

We should be winning but I have no confidence we'll win, or even get a draw. I'm fully prepared for another miserable performance and result.

Perhaps we should try the diamond? We haven't got wing players for shit. Our squad is more fitting to that formation than the 4-3-3 which relies on wide forwards that can actually play as such. Also you pretty much waste both Martial and Rashford in a 4-2-3-1, with the addition of Zlatan being too slow to be a lone #9 in the PL.

    ....back four
    .....carrick
    ander....pogba
    ......mata
    rash...martial

Fellaini for the banned Ander and sadly Zlatan for one of Rash or Martial though.

Don't think Mourinho has ever tried this out though, so will probably be the shit 4-2-3-1 again.

I agree with you. This is the part of Jose I'm beginning to dread, his selection. I wonder what more Tuanzebe has to do to be considered important rather than rushing sick note Jones. As a matter of fact, he should play instead of Rojo. As with TFM also, there is no point in him training and not playing for the U23 when he is going to play captain Lumpy in the midfield. I'd play a 2DM of TFM and Schneiderlin instead.

I believe that when we played Stoke, Stoke were bottom of the league. We drew with them.
So, Swansea being a position higher - should be able to beat us. :p

It is strange that despite spending so much money and hiring a big name manager, we are still in the same predicament as we were under LVG - i.e. fearing the lower league teams.

Both teams need the win, but of the two teams then ours shows no sign of having the character to stand-up and be counted.

Yours have a new manager who might be able to inspire something (time will tell); Swansea have a decent recent record against United (which is still the biggest game of the season for most players in terms of the opposition; certainly when United are weak), you're at home, and you've had a full week to prepare whilst we've been messing about in Turkey until late in the week. Add in all the injuries, and a Swansea win is the most natural conclusion to arrive at, so it's not that surprising in my view.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Any news on Smalling? We need him back.

Other than that I'd like to see Martial start as i thought he was the only one that could take any credit from the Fenerbache game. He's starting to look a bit livelier to me and I'm hoping this is him coming back into form.

Is Carrick fit to play? If not I'd love to see TFM in there with Schneiderlin or Fellaini and Mata ahead of them.

    Bournemouth away?
That's the one I was thinking of. Just checked and that was week 16. First loss in that poor run that lasted through January/February. Although Bournemouth was 15th.

Who all traveled? Selections are getting harder to predict. I think we'll stick with Blind/Rojo at the back. I've got a feeling Jose has seen enough of Smalling. Only problem is Rojo is just as bad. Perhaps Phil gets a start? With no Herrera I hope he starts Carrick to help cover for our CBs. I think a Carrick/Schneiderlin/Mata MF will be our strongest with no Pogba. Stick with Martial and Mkhitaryan on the wings and Zlatan up top. Martial/Mata/Mkhitaryan would give us a dynamic attack we've been lacking. Carrick and Blind pinpoint passing from the back will be essential to keeping possession for this. Think it will be a close game. 2-1 to us and we roll on.

I feel that Thursday was a big kick in the balls for Jose and I hope he will react. I expect many changes and I hope he does. If he is going to turn it around he needs to be ruthless but I'm not entirely sure how. He needs to bench Rooney and Ibra for a start but I suspect both will start.

More like: is there any pre-match news at all?

Guessing Jose didn't do a conference because of Europa?

It's frustrating as well given Jose said himself after the game on Thursday that playing 2 LB's at CB is a problem, especially for Blind as playing RCB is diminishing his abilty to build polay from the back. He might be wanting to avoid throwing Tuanzebe into the fire but that is how steel is forged, and by all accounts he's a mature young lad with a good mentality. I'd give TFM Herrera's role in the midfield 3 with Pogba and Carrick.

Oh that common sense may prevail!
Watch him complain about playing two left backs in defence yet he has two young CB who look really, not even on the bench!

You're underestimating how shite we are. Not only will United win it'll be by a couple of goals.

Think Swansea will press us hard as they did Liverpool.

Simple way to counter this is to play Carrick in the midfield with someone in behind him to mop up. Allow him to play the ball longer.

In addition have the forwards running in behind. I'd like to see something like this in the middle:

    Mata-Carrick
    *someone holding*

Then Martial/Rashford through the middle with Zlatan from the bench.
