I've seen LVG pick Rooney, whatever the cost, much to the frustration of the fans. LVG got fired due to a lack of goals.
I've seen Jose pick Lukaku, even though Lukaku was missing chances, was/is overweight and in no condition to play games.

With the above in mind, I am worried that Solkjaer will end up playing Lukaku, regardless of his form.

And the Phil Jones problem remains. Today, I expect Jones to be Spurs' best CB!
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack going to shit off the shoulder of Rooney. I watched JLingz fritter away chances on the edge of the box. All those moments will be lost in time, due to Ole Solskjaer's reign.

I've got a good feeling about today's game, unfortunately I will only catch the first 30m of it so I'm hoping for a great start.

Spurs away has been as bad a bogey game as the games at Stamford Bridge in recent years. Hope we come out of this with something tonight.

Spurs will not be sure how to approach this, cause Solskjaer is still settling in.
I think we'll see Spurs start strongly to try and get a goal and then try and pick us off on the counter. The worry for Pock will be if we strike first.

That may be so. They are still not as good as our midfield. Pogba will dominate Winks/Sissoko. I don't see how everyone can be scared of that midfield.
Neither is a midfield of Milner, Wijnaldum and Henderson, but they still dominate a lot of teams.

How are you still allowed to post in the matchday threads?

The absolute bile that you come out with every single matchday.

    I actually think you’re a troll.
I want Utd to win as much as everyone else on here but I'm a realist so I try not to let me heart overrule what I actually think will happen.

If we replaced Young and Jones with semi decent players I would be buzzing. Glaring weaknesses in our team. Saying that, chuffed to bits that the manager has finally binned Valencia and Fellaini

Expected team really, great to see. Now let's do the job. If it's level late on I want to see us taking over, not getting deeper.

I think people need to chill in thinking that whatever happened in the past will happen again. They were failed managers stuck in their own ways. They never got Utd. Ole is Utd through & through. He knows what the fans want.

If that was the case, then Lukaku would be starting today. I think anyone can see that that Rashford offers more for us up front than Lukaku. He can't offer us the kind of pressing and link up play that he does. That is vital today. He's a fantastic sub to have though so that's where he should stay hopefully.

Phil Jones when he's on form is very solid. It just depends if he's on it or not. I hope he is up for it today!

In the past, we approached these games with the wrong attitude. We were almost beat before kick-off. Now, that we have a bit of confidence and belief about us, I expect us to give a good account of ourselves today.
It's not just a question of attitude though, is it...It's a well functioning side that have two of the best attacking players in the league, probably the best striker, a side that's much closer to fighting for the title than we are, and you reckon it's going to be easy if we win the midfield battle ?

I don’t think we will win either.

But have a look at your own post history, especially on matchday. It’s just negative bile about our players.

Great stuff. Itll be a hard game anyway but seeing us approach it in the right way is the main thing. If we lose, not the end of the world.
Same, I at least have confidence that we will give it a proper go irrespective of the final score.

Can’t see us winning this but would love to be proven wrong.

I do think Jones and Young will be exploited. Interested to see how far our fullbacks push up the pitch - presumably we can get away with this less today than against the weaker opposition we have player under Solskjaer thus far.

I suppose that no one will be all that surprised given that you constantly post that Lukaku should start, you seem more interested in him starting...

It shouldn't come as a surprise right now that Ole prefers Rashford to Lukaku up front, and that he wants to focus on building the team around him. Based on opposition we might start with the two and play Rashford off Lukaku, or we'll bring Lukaku on as a tactical change.

Bit of a challenge for Lukaku, finding himself in a position where he has to reclaim his starting spot, hopefully he'll make it a difficult choice for Ole going forward
I have absolutly no problem with Rashford being the 9 and so on or being selected Iver Lukaku, I was merely pointing out to you and others that Lukaku can do a lot of the things we’ve been seeing Rashford do in this side for Ole with the added benefit of being stronger and faster with better finishing. I honestly don’t really care which one starts and it’s great we have two great options but for me the team will be better all round with Lukaku Martial and Rashford in it rather than Lingard.

Play with heart, score a goal or two. That's all you can ask. Need to retool the squad.

Not about quality on these occasions. We just need to hold our own and hope a bit of luck will go our way. You need to also think from Spurs perspective, we definitely aren't push-overs for them either.

Btw my new year resolution is to be more positive in the match day thread.

Credit to Spurs, they've have had a very good manager for a while now and have established consistently good performances over a significant period. We've been at it for only a few games. So clearly they are favourites especially at their 'home ground.' I would not pay too much attention to the result of this game, meither here nor there for me. Even with Fergie we've lost big games but came out stronger in the long run. I'll try to enjoy it. :)

I think if we end up winning the midfield battle, which we have every chance of, then that is half the battle already. They can't do any damage if they haven't got the ball. Then it's just a question whether the defence is on top form to prevent any easy chances for Spurs' s attackers. I believe we are capable of doing just that. Along with the attacking threat we possess, it should be reason to be confident about the match today.

That's about as weak a midfield Spurs can put out. There is no reason that Pogba couldn't exert his influence and dominate the game.

Herrera will have his hands full with Eriksen but this is the sort of game he shines in.

    3-1 United.

Understand to a degree what you are saying. Under Fergie we could drop points here and there to the decent teams. However, our problem is we have already dropped a lot of points this season so we do need positives results. Otherwise we could end up seriously embarrased with the points difference between us and the top.
