I expect us to win this game. I think if we play at our confident best, we are the better side, and should have definitely won at Old Trafford.

Smalling straight back in the team, other than that, keep the same XI we’ve been going with. I wouldn’t mind seeing Sanchez in for Lingard either but that’s whatever really.

could see Lukaku starting taking Lingard's place
Under Jose I would agree(although he would probably play both and bench Martial). Ole knows how much Lingard adds to the game of others so I have no doubt Lingard will play with Rom on the bench.

More than the result I am interested in the way we go in this game in terms of tactics , everyone expects us to lose but I would like us to be aggressive without being tactically naive here . What I don't want is to play like we did against Liverpool, if spurs have that much of the ball they will beat us 99 out of 100 times and so we need to be compact but try to win the game . Losing while trying to win will hurt much lesser than sitting back and still losing

Today helped picked the team. Here would be my selection

    De Gea

    Young, Jones, Lindelof, Shaw

    Herrera, Matic, Pogba

    Lingard, Rashford, Martial

Only question mark for me is Lingard or Sanchez. Probably the former as Sanchez may not be 100%

Lingard will start, no point having Rom up tom, he'll be isolated a lot, especially in the 1st part of the game.

That is precisely my choice. I choose lingard any day over Sanchez.

Yes, he’s not always consistent on the ball. But his movement and running off the ball is MUCH MUCH better than Sanchez or anyone else we have.

He amplifies, the other players around him.

I don’t see what more he has to do to be appreciated more.

Very underrated in my opinion. If fully fit, I would put Sanchez ahead of Lingard at the moment for his superior passing and slightly better ability to take on players, but part of that is down to Sanchez's reputation

Our mutual front line is very exciting and fluid. The combined attributes of movement, pace , dribbling and interchanging play is a nightmare for any defence. Particularly with Pogba coming in behind them and our full backs pushing on

Reallky looking forward to the game

I'm not too worried about Ole going into this with much naivety. He know how it's like to go into a match against favourites and had his lessons. We looked vulnerable at the back even when winning four or five to one because we were very attacking. Our RB won't spend the night as RW against Spurs and that's where a lot of our issues came from. Lingard was basically playing as a nr. 10 with our Young playing RW trying to provide width and balance to our strong left side, this meant we had to stretch our back line a lot, having one our CB's playing at RB and oppos finding themselves a lot of space to counter. If we go at Tottenham like that, we'll get slapped, I doubt we will.

I think we should go there and attack.

I don't think we're defensively good enough to go there and defend for 90 minutes and try score on the break. So we might as well go there and try enjoy ourselves. Spurs are a level above atm.

Normally I'd agree with this but today's game aside, we are very high on confidence right now. Yes, they will score, but I would not count us out of scoring more. We know the players are capable. They just have to show up. Out of all of our players, my biggest fear is that Jones will start. He's our biggest liability right now.

The Spurs game at home we played like Ole plays now. We were pressing relentlessly high up the pitch, winning the ball back and putting them on the back foot. We attacked in numbers but Spurs dealt with us easily I think. The confidence could be the difference now with actually finishing them off early. The score line of that game flattered them, though.

This time though we don't have the crowd. But I think we should still go there and attack right out.

Spurs have the most clinical forward line in the league. If Jones plays then you can bet your money on him gifting them a goal.

Bet we'll win and Sir Harry Kane will cry like a little bitch.
How can you hate Harry Kane? He's a fantastic player who seems really down to earth and lets his football do the talking. He's an excellent pro and would be over the moon if he played for us.

The last time we won 5 games in a row was around this time last year under Mourinho in early January. We then went on to lose 2-0 vs Tottenham to end the streak. De ja vu?

Did not the gunners battered them recently? I am not sure of a win at Wembley, but I do expect us to produce a much much better performance than we did last time. It is either a draw or a United win for me. Do not forget that Spurs will hesitate to go gung-ho against us. Martial, Rashford and Lingard, supported by Pogs, Ander and Matic is something to be really careful about. Then we have DDG too.

Mate, Wolves battered them 1-3 at Wembley last week. It certainly isn’t beyond our capability to get a win there.

Did they? Good then. If we do not have an unexpected brainfart in defence, we will get a result there.

I thought Darmian did well against Reading. Wouldn't mind seeing him alongside Lindelof. Players that shouldn't be starting are Lukaku, Valencia, Smalling and Fellaini, whatever team we put out.

    DDG
    Young Bailly/Darmian Lindelof Shaw
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Sanchez/Lingard Rashford Martial

Will be a tight game but we should prevail. A draw would not be the end of the world but we are capable of beating these feckers. I'm going to go 2-1 to United, or possibly 2-2.

Your advantage in this game is the fact that we have a tough League Cup SF 1st leg against Chelsea beforehand, which is what happens when competing on 4 different fronts.

This will be Son's last game before he departs for the Asian Cup, so I'm hoping he wants go out with a bang.
That sort of implies you have any chance of winning those four trophies.

It’ll be interesting if Ole goes Lingard - Rashford - Martial, or finds a way to start Lukaku. Personally I’d hope he goes for the former.

Back four (Young, Lindelof, Jones, Shaw) and midfield pick themselves.

Spurs absolutely destroyed us in this game last season

I'm expecting a much tighter game and if we defend well (get well soon Smalling) I think we can nick it

The Spurs overrating in this thread is ridiculous. Then again this is typical of the Caf where acting all doom and gloom is seen as the reasonable thing to do.

Anyways the game should be good and looking forward to it.

Glad to finally read a post that's not doom and glooms. And you're right we also have the firepower to hurt Spurs should they make the mistake to overcoming.

People in this thread are talking as of Spurs are the only ones with attacking power to hurt us if we play open but completely disregard our potent attack in this scenario. You'd think our attackers would just be playing with their thumbs while Spurs have all the freedom to hurt our vulnerable defense.

The same Spurs that had just lost against Wolves at home and got shown at Arsenal, yet hearing people talk about them in this thread one would think they are indomitable.

No way would I throw Smalling straight back into a game like this. How many times is Bailly gonna get kicked for the sending off? He played well up to that point. We have easier fixtures after this game where Smalling can be brought back in.

Bailly has been rubbish long before his red card. And before he was sent off, in that very game, he was very fortunate not to concede a penalty for performing a fly-kick where a simple header would do (his specialty).

Before that game, he had barely featured due to being ostracised by the former manager after his shit-show against Brighton away.

He’s the one who should be in your ‘players that should never start’ list - especially alongside Lindelöf, who is similarly incapable of heading a football.
