Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to simply as Tottenham or Spurs (and nicknamed The Lilywhites), are a professional football club based in Tottenham, London. The Hotspur Football Club was formed in 1882 by a group of school boys, mostly aged 13 to 14, from Tottenham Grammar School and Saint John's Middle Class School who were members of the Hotspur Cricket Club formed two years earlier. Initially, the boys that formed Hotspur Football Club played games between themselves and friendly matches against other local clubs. The team entered their first cup competition in the London Association Cup, and won their first competitive match on 17 October 1885. The club turned professional on 20 December 1895, and in the summer of 1896 they were admitted to the Division One of the Southern League. On 2 March 1898, the club also became a limited company, the Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Company.

Tottenham were the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960-61 season. After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 they became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 1967, Spurs won the FA Cup for a third time in the 1960s. In the 1970s Tottenham won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winner of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies. In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup in 1984. In the 1990s the club won the FA Cup and the League Cup. When they won the League Cup once more in 2008, it meant that they had won a major trophy in each of the last six decades.

Tottenham supporters have rivalries with several clubs, mainly within the London area. The fiercest of these is with north London rivals Arsenal (with matches between them termed the North London derby). They also share notable rivalries with fellow London clubs Chelsea and West Ham United. Tottenham play their home games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

    Assuming Yoro is fit.

    Onana
    Yoro - Maguire - Shaw
    Mazraoui - Bruno - Casemiro - Dorgu
    Amad - Mount - Garnacho

Our most important game in 12 years. We need to win this. Call me crazy but I foresee a Højlund winner.

Above anything, we cannot start this match with Hojlund on the field. Play Mount or Garnacho as a false 9.

They're missing their two best players, and a cup final is too big an occasion for Spurs as it is.

    No excuses.

    Nothing in attack.

    Can't see a win.

    Hope to hope I'm wrong.

Wish Amorim tried experiments the past few months that didn't involve Hojlund but inevitably he'll start. Maybe Lindelof at CB with Maguire up top...
Hopefully one of De Ligt, Yoro or Dalot can be fit so Lindelof doesn't start though.

    Onana
    Yoro Maguire Shaw
    Mazraoui Bruno Casemiro Dorgu
    Amad Mount
    Hojlund

Garnacho, Ugarte, Mainoo the main impact/only real subs.

To paraphrase Clive Tyldesley: "Can Manchester United score? They never score."

I really hope the club have got certain clauses in this 25% rise for UCL qualification - because this is going to be the most monumental undeserved pay rise in history!

False nine with Kobbie was attempted versus Palace earlier in the season and was a wet blanket.

If it's attempted it ought to be Bruno.

Anyway, I think we're done. We cannot score goals. There isn't a goalscorer our team.

3-1 Spurs. Poor start. Back in it too late. Caught out at the end.

In the long run, it may be the best thing.

Put Amad on the bench and use his pace for
    impact.

    He shouldn't start.

I’m not optimistic I have to say but it’s not a great side we’re up against and we’re unbeaten in Europe this season.

    For positives I look at:
    • Casemiro’s experience of big finals
    • Bruno!
    • Amad and Garnacho can be dangerous on their day.
    • …the fact that we’re playing an injury ravaged and pretty bad team?
    • United fans should outsing the Spurs fans and push us over the line?

I don’t want to list the negatives. Bruno and Casemiro will be key if we have any chance of winning this.

I actually don't think Hojlund will start, he has played every minute of the last couple of league games when other players were being withdrawn to keep them fresh. I expect to see something like Mount as a false 9 in front of Amad and Garnacho with a midfield axis of Bruno and Case.

All the way to pens and a horribly nerve wracking night

I don’t enjoy theses games as much as a should due to how nervous I get

Hojlund will start and unfortunately I see us losing because of it. He's just too easy to defend against and offers nothing on the pitch. Really hope Amorim springs a surprise on everyone.

Pretty stunning we actually have a shot at UCL given how bad the season has been.

Team is pretty clear based on tonight as well - hopefully Yoro in for Lindelof and Ighalo for Hojlund

Unless someone feeds Spurs a dicey lasagne again, I think we're toast in this final. Any team with speed and strength on the flanks and and in the middle is going to have United for breakfast, unfortunately.

Amazingly shoddy recruitment to spend so much and have a team resemble a mid-ranking mid-paced u21s most games. Genuinely believe there are league 1 sides who, after a few days bootcampp, could deal with United. It doesn't take tactics, just intensity, a bit of strength and acceleration and the midfield is nowhere, WBs are floundering. WHU and today have confirmed this. Only Spurs having half their creative players missing keeps this respectable....

I want maximum effort and focus. No fecking around the backline. No super high press which allows Van de Ven to just stroll through our slow midfield. Go long if we can't deal with their press. Try to get Amad 1 on 1 to create chances. If not, corners and set pieces. Then hope Casemiro or Maguire get onto the end of one those.

I don't care if we have to abandon everything we've built during the season for one game. Finals are there to be won, whatever it takes.

I hope Hojlund doesn't start but unfortunately Amorim hasn't looked like dropping him. I would like to see

    Onana
    Maz Maguire Shaw
    Amad Ugarte Cas Dorgu
    Bruno Mount
    Garnacho

    Onana
    Yoro Maguire Shaw
    Maz Casemiro Bruno Dorgu
    Amad Mount
    Garnacho

Onana, Maguire, Bruno, Casemiro, Dorgu, Amad, Garnacho, Mount surely start. Then it’s a question who are other 2 at the back with Maguire - Mazraoui and Shaw, Mazraoui and Yoro, Yoro and Shaw? Amad - as a wingback or a 10? Hojlund as a striker or someone like Garnacho or Mount as a false 9? Unhappy with Hojlund but Garnacho isn’t a better finisher this season either.

Trouble is Onana could let us down again and Hojlund/Garnacho to miss their chances. Only hope is few players stepping up (like Amad and Garnacho), Casemiro and Bruno delivering big performances.

Mount assisted winning goal in CL final vs City didn’t he? Hopefully that plus extra motivation of facing Spurs could drive him more. More of a wishful thinking really.

    Let’s just go for it.

    Onana
    Maz Maguire Yoro
    Amad Cas Bruno Shaw
    Mount Garnacho
    Mainoo

I realise Shaw will be injured by HT but worth taking the chance with Dorgu, Dalot etc. on the bench.

Hojlund will start and unfortunately I see us losing because of it. He's just too easy to defend against and offers nothing on the pitch. Really hope Amorim springs a surprise on everyone.

He's taller than Romero (weaker though) and maybe similar strength to Van de Ven (though slightly smaller). Tosin ate him up tonight.

I suspect he will start just because Amorim didn't use this match tonight at any point to try a false nine.

With that in mind, this is the team I expect. Garnacho and Mount off the bench:

    -------------------------------Onana
    ----------------De Ligt---Maguire---Shaw
    Mazraoui----------------------------------------Dorgu
    ----------------Casemiro-----------Ugarte
    ----------------Amad-----------------Bruno
    ----------------------------Hojlund

    Positive things to go off

We have a team of players who have won trophies here or at other clubs

I dont think you can say the same for Spurs squad if both squads put winners medals on the table

To add to that, they are in just as bad of form as us.

We have proved we can step up at certain moments

It feels there manager is going to be sacked

    Negatives

3 or 4 defeats in a row to spurs

There front line of Son, Solanke, Johnson score against us regularly

They have good full backs for any wing play

    Can't see us scoring.

So ten nil to United and barbecues all around

Højlund needs to start…..watching this game from his sofa at home. The lad needs a restraining order from Old Trafford- Bebe levels of skill and a whole heap of nothingness he brings to the game.

Hoping that Dalot is fit and we can start Mazraoui at RCB. Otherwise will he play Amad there? Mazraoui struggled tonight. I can't imagine Yoro being fit so Shaw starts. Other question is do we play Bruno in a 10 or central with Ugarte?
