Valencia Club de Fútbol, also known as Valencia CF or Valencia (nicknamed Los Che Els Taronges (The Oranges) and Valencianistes Los Murciélagos (The Bats)) is a Spanish football club based in Valencia. One of the more successful Spanish clubs of all time, Valencia have won six La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey titles, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups (the predecessor to the UEFA Cup), one UEFA Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and two UEFA Super Cups. They also reached two UEFA Champions League finals in a row, losing to La Liga rivals Real Madrid in 2000 and Bayern Munich on penalties after a 1–1 draw in 2001. Valencia were also members of the G-14 group of leading European football clubs. In total, Valencia have reached seven major European finals, winning four of them.

The club was established on 5 March 1919 and officially approved on 18 March 1919, with Octavio Augusto Milego Díaz as its first president; incidentally, the presidency was decided by a coin toss. The club played its first competitive match away from home on 21 May 1919 against Valencia Gimnástico, losing 1–0. Valencia moved into the Mestalla Stadium in 1923, having played its home matches at the Algirós ground since 7 December 1919. Valencia club enjoyed a period of sustained success towards the turn of the century, particularly in the UEFA Champions League; for the first time in its history, Valencia reached a European Cup final. The notable signings of that summer included Rubén Baraja, Roberto Ayala, Vicente Rodríguez and Pablo Aimar, who would soon become a staple of Valencia's dominance of the early 2000s in La Liga.

Valencia have a fierce rivalry with fellow Valencian club Villarreal, with whom they contest the Derbi de la Comunitat. The rivalry is further fueled by the fact they are the two most successful clubs in the region. Valencia also have a long-standing rivalry with Levante, also located in the city of Valencia, and with two other clubs in the Valencian region, Hércules and Castellón. They play their homes games at Estadio de Mestalla.

Dear rubber, so would give some of the squad players a game with one eye on the Liverpool game

    Dalot, Jones, Rojo, Darmian
    McTomminay

Huge game at Anfield coming up, no need to risk anyone. I think Dalot will play though.

Would play mostly players who likely won't play vs Pool.

    Romero
    Dalot - Bailly - Rojo - Darmian
    Fred - Andreas - McTominay
    Fellaini
    Mata - Lukaku

Hopefully Chong and Gomes are part of 18. Maybe Greenwood too.

Probably full rotation. Meaningless really, but also very dependent on who plays vs Liverpool.

    Romero
    Valencia Bailly Rojo Shaw
    McTominay Pereira Fred
    Mata Lukaku Lingard
Then vs Liverpool (not what I want, but what Mou will do...):
De Gea; Dalot, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Young; Matic, Herrera, Fellaini; Rashford, Lukaku

I'd like to see the young players like Pereira, Chong and Gomes play, but I doubt the last 2 will, logically most of the players that will start against Liverpool will likely be rested.

We can rest players and prepare for Liverpool. Meanwhile Liverpool need to play their beat team mid week before playing us.

No point playing a very strong team as we are already through.

    Romero

    Valencia
    Bailly
    Rojo
    Darmian

    Fred
    McTominay
    Pogba

    Chong
    Lukaku

    Bailey
    Rojo
    Jones
    Darmian

    Periera
    Fellaini
    Fred

    Lingard
    Mata
    Lukaku

Leave Young, Smalling, Rashford, Martial, Pogba, Herrera, Dalot, Shaw, De Gea & Matic on bench/home

Take Lukaku & Mata off after 60 mins for Chong & Martial (minutes before Liverpool)

Unless there's factual evidence coming out that Chong may start I wouldn't be so fast in putting him in starting 11's, even for a game like Wednesday.

People seem to feel this game is meaningless. Well I think the opposite. We need to get as much confidence in our team as possible, especially with a game against Liverpool on the Horizon.

Now Chong may feature against Valencia but I'd be surprised if its this one.

Keep the Liverpool starting XI at home with some coaches working on the plan for Sunday; the rest plus the academy lads that attend first team training can form the Valencia squad, with promises of squad places in the Liverpool game for those that perform well against Valencia.

This might be our most pointless CL match ever. I hope that Mourinho sends the kids to the job and gives players a chance.

    What did he say?
“Yeah, we need too. We go to Valencia, there are people that need to rest, there are people that need to play. It's a question of trust, a question of justice too, so if I say Romelu Lukaku plays, obviously he deserves to play. If I say a kid that is working every day like a tiger and is not playing much like Andreas Pereira is going to have a start, I'm going to make changes in the team, because we managed to qualify.”

I'm not sure I'll see this game if I have something better to do that night. It should be boring.

We still have a slim chance to finish 1st in the group so it's not a pointless game. I think Pogba will start this one.

really hope Fred and Periera get a game - reckon we might see Young on the left again at Anfield as he did a great job on Salah in the past so Shaw might play

hard to rotate our attacking players as we've a lack of depth - if Rashford gets injured we are in trouble

Hope we can play well and build for the future even if the game is not that important since we have already qualified. Like to see some younger players getting a game too.

in picking a team for this you need to consider who he will trust at Anfield

I think Young, Smalling, Matic, Darmian possibly, Herrera, Rashford, Fellaini, Lingard are all likely to play

I don't think he will trust in Dalot with Robertson/Mane on the left, I think our win and performance yesterday means Pogba will be on bench, Lukaku I wouldn't play at Anfield but not sure about Jose, think he will see Mata as too lightweight/slow
