Please no Henderson and no McT (although I'm predicting it). I'd expect the following:
    De Gea
    AWB Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    McFred
    Rashford Fernandes Pogba
    Cavani

    Would prefer the below though:
    De Gea
    AWB Tuanzebe Lindelof Shaw
    Fred Pogba
    Greenwood Fernandes Rashford
    Cavani

From the squad fielded today vs Wolves I think we have a good idea of who's starting on Wednesday.

Did anyone watch Villereal vs Madrid the other day? How did they play?

    Not quite.

There are three players for two flank roles in attack: Rashford, Greenwood and Pogba

There are also three players for two midfield positions: Fred, McTominay and again Pogba.

One of aforementioned players won’t start the final... And it may be any one of those five

I notice most have not included Maguire in their starting lineup. Has Ole ruled him out of making the game?

Pretty much. Says he will give him till Tuesday night training to prove his fitness, but it's not looking good at all.

Think this will be a lot tougher than most are anticipating.

Ole said he doesn’t expect him to play but will give him until Wednesday afternoon to see if he’s fit enough.

Fully expect us to win this 4-0. Which obviously means it'll be a nail biter.

Would no one consider Matic playing alongside Fred in the middle if we go with the double?
It seems like it should be a good mix, with Fred's energy making up for Matic's ageing legs, and Matic's positional sense helping out when Fred gets turned and is left behind play.... But it feels like we've tried it a few times and it's always been shite.

He played 90 mins today. Would need a two weeks rest in order to semi function for 60 mins 3 days later.

I've not bothered looking when we have but yeah Mctominay is not in form and Matic has bags of experience and is still capable of delivering.

To me it seems like the obvious double pivot set up to play but no idea why we haven't.

Pogba is dead set on LW since they will defend deep , Ole will play Rashford on the right just because he loves him nomatter.

Im thinking Tuanzebe will start (as he is less prone to weird errors), but will be a toss up really.

sort of dreading this because a loss here would let the media go berserk on Ole

In theory it would work, the steady veteran DM keeping things calm. But in practice it doesn’t because that veteran DM is past it and doesn‘t offer anything more than Scotty even when the latter is out of form.

Why has all the talk been about which of Bailly or Tuanzabe will partner Lindelof when they are both better than him

Probably because they aren’t and Solskjaer will definitely pick him regardless.

Baily is a headless chicken, I don't rate him that highly.

Can't see any way Greenwood starts. I personally would start him but I can't see Ole leaving Rashford out.

    De Gea

    AWB Lindeloff Ballie Shaw

    McTominay Fred

    Rashford Bruno Pogba

    Cavani

Greenwood will come on around the 65th minute, could be for Rashford, Cavani or Fred. Depending on how things are going.

Can't wait to see the tiki-taka between Bailly, Lindelof, Mctominay and Fred

Unfortunately don't think Maguire will start. Think it will be.

    De Gea
    AWB - Axel - Lindelof - Shaw
    McTominay - Fred
    Greenwood - Bruno - Pogba
    Cavani

I really think van der beek should start after a confidence boosting performance yesterday, same with tuanzebe who has actually had some good displays with lindelof as his partner in the odd occasions he has played this season

I think the following are 99% starting:

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka
    Lindelof
    Shaw

    Fred
    Pogba
    Bruno

    Cavani

It would be a slight shock at this stage if Henderson is given the nod. Hasn't done a lot wrong, but I feel as though Dave has nailed down the position for this game and believe that those who started against Fulham are the front runners.

Tuanzebe would be my choice at the moment and I'm more convinced that is the choice Ole has made, but there is at least a decision to be made whether it's him or Bailly. Unless of course Maguire is miraculously 80%+ fit then I would expect Ole to give him the choice of starting.

McTominay will probably start, but then that means one of Rashford and Greenwood isn't. It's definitely 2/3 from there players to start though and with it being an important game I expect Ole to start with two DMs.

Hopefully the bench can include Rashford/Greenwood, Mata, van de Beek, James, Martial, Amad and Elanga so we have players at the ready who could make the difference.

W1, D1, L1 during his time with us I believe.

Anyone know if Villareal have any big names out for this?
Chukwueze is injured for them so won't play, he's a big miss for them.

Just found out they don't usually pose a big threat in the air. They've scored 3 headed goals this season which is joint lowest across all 5 leagues.
