Smalling has said his preferred partner is Lindelof so I'd keep it the same if that's what he's most comfortable with.

I'm pretty confident he'll have said no such thing, where's that coming from?

One of our ex-player pundits asked him and that's what he said apparently. I can't remember who it was though, maybe Gary Neville.

I'd go for the same side that started today to try and gather some momentum. Will be a tough match.
I'd use Herrera or Fred (Preferably Herrera) instead of Matic unless Matic somehow recovers his 17/18 form over the next couple of weeks. We'll need Fellaini to do a similar job but Matic was given a little more freedom to roam forward and looked off the pace. With the center backs covered by a midfielder that's strong in the air I think more mobility next to Pogba could only help.

Agree with this. Just hope our players that are going to be on international duty will come through unscathed.

Tough game, against a team in Watford that have had the perfect start.

Think I expect the same team, especially with Fellaini screening the defence. Reason being, Watford, like Burnley, do sometimes play direct football, and have two very physical players up top in Gray and Deeney, who win their fair share of aerial duels. Fear Lindelof could get roughed up a bit in this one, but this is why I feel Fellaini will be so important.

If we win this one and put in a good performance, against a well drilled unit, then I'm confident we'll get a run going.

A quick start is a must. They really struggled against Palace a couple of weeks ago. Had Palace finished their chances, they could have easily gone ahead 3:0 in the first half. Watford seemed really vulnerable in the wide areas, and from what I can remember, Townsend was pivotal to Palace playing so well and creating chances in the first half.

With Sanchez and Lingard expected to cut in and play in between the lines, the width will need to come from Valencia and Shaw, who were fantastic against Burnley, especially Shaw, who has arguably been our best performer so far this season.

Same team as Burnley, let them try and build some momentum, and keep the same back 4 in place for a run of games. Hoping none of our lads pick up any knocks.

We have to play the same line up. Watford also very dangerous with set pieces so Fellaini will keep his place.

    hate international break.
But would like to keep the defense and midfield same. may be Martial for Lingard and move Alexis on the right.
Loved Big Afro's Defensive contributions and he earned to keep his place.

I actually don't mind the international break that's come up. I know another game round the corner would help us build momentum but I think it might give us more time on the training field to tweak some of our play which looks improved.

I also believe now is a great time to play Watford. I know they're on a roll but it has to end soon and why not to us. We got a good win away against Burnley. I think we can burst their bubble and set them down a notch.

3-1 Man Utd. I think we will outscore them but concede.

I predict Fred (and maybe even Pereira) to make a comeback against either Bern or Wolves.
Fred and Pereira are not physically tough enough to deal with a physical side like Watford. Putting either of those 2 into the first team would be irresponsible.
Fellaini, Pogba and Matic are a must for this match. Herrera could be an option, as he likes to play dirty.

The back 4 will likely be the same depending on how much travel Valencia has with Equador, if he's late back then Young will come in at RB. The front 3 will be the same and I think Pogba will start, the only thing is whether Mourinho feels he wants Freds energy and mobility in there instead of both units.

I don't understand why he hasn't retired from international football yet.

    Dream scenario:
    • Valencia is too tired and Dalot impresses Mourinho enough during these two weeks to start
    • Sanchez and Martial regain fitness and Mourinho's faith while finding a way to play together
    • Shaw doesn't get injured
    • Lindelöf and Bailly having stormers for national teams
    • Fred and Pereira shining together for Brazil
    • Lukaku clinical for Belgium
    De Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelöf Shaw
    Matic
    Fred Pogba
    Sanchez Lukaku Martial

    Subs: Pereira, Fellaini, Lingard

No chance he leaves out Lingard. Fellaini might be needed to battle Deeney.

Yeah I don't think Mourinho will bench either. But if Martial had the three chances Lingard had against Burnley he'd have buried at least one, and our new high press is ideally more suited to Fred than Fellaini.

Does Martial find those positions though? Lingard's movement is way better.

We should not be changing our attack line until it becomes stable. I'll go with lingard for this.

This is true, but what I mentioned was a dream scenario where Sanchez and Martial develop an understanding at Carrington and improve their pressing and running within our new system during the international break.

It's easier to improve tactics than talent. If you put Martial in the City team I've no doubt he'd find himself in lots of good positions.

Whenever Martial plays the majority of a match for us he usually gets a couple or so goalscoring chances. His movement is underrated. Not as good as Lingard's but not as bad as made out to be.

I mean, he does need to work on it, but we as a team have shown a lot more cohesion and fluidity in our last two games in which I've praised José for. I haven't seen us play this freely in a long time, and I'd love to see how Martial would do under such set-up.

Really comes down to moments of individual brilliance, where he beats a few players then tries to shoot. I think his movement is very poor, finding it hard to think of goals of his which came down to this.

True, that is where the majority of his chances come from. However, when the criticism of his bad movement came to light a while back, I started watching him off the ball more closely in games and I wouldn't say it's as bad as made out to be. He makes runs off the ball - it's just none of our players were quick enough to play him through. That's been a big issue of ours in recent years - moving the ball quicker, which means a lot of these types of runs from all of our attackers haven't been capitalised on.

With that said, in the past two games we have moved the ball quicker and have tried more risky passes so I think Martial would benefit greatly from this.

Let’s hope so, if we genuinely are working on these aspects of our game then it could change our whole season.
