Smalling has said his preferred partner is Lindelof so I'd keep it the same if that's what he's most comfortable with.
Maybe that's because he's only defender at the club who's a bigger liability hence managing to take the focus off Mike

Let’s hope so, if we genuinely are working on these aspects of our game then it could change our whole season.
    Hopefully!

Even though we got done by Spurs, the last two games have been positive steps forwards. I'm hoping we don't revert to type (which I thought we might've done vs Burnley after losing 3-0, but thankfully we didn't) if we end up on the end of a bad result as they're bound to happen. Just stick with what we're doing and I think we'll benefit from it in the long run.

Mean reversion will help us, highly unlikely that they can keep the run going...

Will definitely be a tricky match given how they have started. We should go with the same side that played against Burnley, with the same momentum and same intentions.

Surely they can't get 15 points from the first available 15...

I don't think we'll win. We always under perform after international breaks. The turning point for our season last year came after the break with Liverpool, Huddersfield and Chelsea. Watford are a better team than Huddersfield. We must be very careful.

What you talking about? Smalling is our best centre back by a mile. Lindelof is a nervous wreck & Jones, Bailly & Rojo are injury prone & brainless.

Probably on the bench now that Luke Shaw is out. Young in and Dalot on bench.
Can't remember where he played, or if we played 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 last season @ Watford but Ashley Young had one of his best performances in a United shirt so yeah he'll probably come back in at left-back/wing-back, but it'll be nice to see Dalot get a run out even if it's only for 5 minutes late on as sub for Valencia, or Young.

Is Shaw out? Surely he'll be back by then.

Was out when I saw the video on him so excuse my ignorance on the topic. Just looked like he got knocked out to me.

Head injuries like this one often require a minimum of two weeks rest to be safe. However, it seems that Luke is back and this is more of a 'sustained' concussion and requires less time before medical clearance. Unfortunately, it seems like the advice is about a week's rest from today, so he should miss this game. It's just a better safe than sorry scenario and the club isn't going to go against medical advice.

    Young will play.

3-5-2 at LWB and scored a worldie freekick and a long range screamer.

Yeah, wasn't sure if Rojo had played/started at left-back with Ashley further forward
Pretty sure that was the game Rojo gave away a stupid penalty after a good run of form, summed him up really.

Finally recovering from that oppressive negativity during our first 3 games, can we just get a win here and keep the feel-good factor going?

Bad time to lose Shaw, assuming he's going to sit this one out, as Watford are rolling. Hopefully we can get this done with Young and Valencia, and perhaps Dalot will get in a look-see.

We've won one game against Burnley. Would not say we're out of the funk yet and we're usually garbage after a break. Still lots of negativity surrounding Pogba and Jose. Watford are flying. Expect a touch match and possible a loss or draw.

Really itching for this game now, it feels like it's been too long already.

Tough game, Watford are probably in their best ever Premier League form? At least since they joined the top flight again I'd wager. I'd say avoiding defeat here is a decent result, but with the two losses already any dropped points in the near future are going to hurt more than usual, even in difficult matches. We really need a run of four or five wins to put the doubts to bed.

    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling Lindelof Young
    Matic
    Fellaini Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Sanchez
    ---
Grant; Dalot, Bailly; Herrera, Fred, Mata; Martial

No Shaw or Rashford is a given, so the most likely replacements are Young into the side with Dalot on the bench and Mata to fill the final place also on the bench. I expect Fellaini to start again as Troy Deeney is certain to try and drop onto Lindelof at every opportunity. Wood tried it for Burnley in the first half on both Lindelof and Smalling without much luck, especially with Fellaini in midfield to drop back. Having all of Matic, Fellaini, and Pogba in the middle is something I think Jose will put a big importance on.

I'd probably lean more towards a draw here, but I'll go out on a limb and say 1-2 United.

Is the closest i get to a likely starting 11 that i dont mind seeing.

Hope to see Dalot(Valencia), Martial(Alexis) and Lindgard(Pogba) from the bench.

Must go 3-5-2 or 3-4-3. Watford have been vulnerable down the wings and we scored 4 last season at their place with that formation.

Going for a 1-0 Man Utd win. Will be difficult as Watford have started the season really well. Probably go with the same team that won against Burnley but obviously with Shaw recovering from concussion, I’d expect Young to start at LB.

the only worry for me is Lindelof isnt really convincing on the left side of back three. I'd rather swap lindelof with Felliani. That will also mean Pogba will be higher up.

Edit: went with 0-2 prediction. Did not want to waste a post :P

We need to Fellaini to do another job like he did vs Burnley. If he’s out I can see Lindelof getting isolated and taken apart by Deeney and Gray. They’re a very physical side – If we don’t start well I could see it being another Brighton where we just get bullied into submission.

Not confident at all. Hopefully the international break has derailed their momentum but they’re flying right now and will be mad up for it at home. Expecting a loss.

I wouldn't play Lindelof whatsoever. If need be, bring him back in for the next game (I wouldn't do that either, Id try and play Smalling/Bailly into form as they're our best due in my eyes).

Smalling/Bailly with Fellaini as a third man sorting out that thuggish duo up front.

Fellaini is very important for this match. If he doesn't have a good game, I can see the Watford forwards scoring at least 2 goals against our defence.
I wonder if Jose told Fellaini of his importance and told him to return to Manchester, without playing for Belgium, to ensure he is fully fit to play against Watford.
