This one will be big test for Ole. blah
It really wont. Next season will be his test. Against Watford it was for all to see in what shape our squad currently is and it wasn't pretty. Wolves beat us last time out because they're a good side and with so many of our important players in bad shape I can see them doing it again.

Matic and Herrera will cost us the game if they are still in a stupor.

We need to somehow win ugly for the rest of the season.

We might get lucky if they rest some of their key players for their semi-final on the weekend. They're still a good side though, and I hope the team puts in a good performance after the shocking one in the FA Cup.

Dunno why people are so confident in the score predictor. They played us off the park in the FA Cup.

Why are we still saying this after Mourinho has gone? He was the root problem of our poor football.
Players haven't had a preseason and cannot implement Ole's tactics consistently. Hence, performances are bound to drop a bit.

    Red Card for Casemiro!
They won't and can't change the way they played against us in the FA Cup win. Hopefully, having learnt from our mistakes, I hope we do. It's going to be more points dropped otherwise.

Hoping for different squad situation to last game where some players were simply not fully fit.

Perspective of United back in Europa League again should be enough of the motivator for players to play quality football and avoid the sad scenario.

Is 20 competitive matches (I think?) plus a couple of months training with Solskjaer, including a mini break, not enough time to nail down tactics? Not being funny but other squads seem to be able to change their style when a new manager comes in. Besides, we don't actually know what Solskjaers style is yet.

Jose wasn't even getting the results. He was more interested in undermining squad and washing his hands of failure than trying to improve the squad. He spent money in the transfer market and didn't improve our squad a whole lot. You cannot expect Ole, who was a temp manager until the last game, to change the complexion of the team in such little time. He tried the high pressing, high intensity routine and our squad started falling like nine pins. At the moment it's all about getting results to make the top 4. 14-11-2-1 with a +19 GD is not "new manager bounce".

He has shown glimpses of the playing style that he would want to implement in the earlier matches. We can expect the same once he has had new players and a summer to build the fitness of the players and improve them tactically.

Fa cup quarter final, they were super up for it, a lot of times when theres an upset like that if theres a game shortly after then I feel like the bigger team ends up getting the expected win. Like if we play them 10 times, of course theyll win occasionally, but you would expect us to win most of them, no matter how impressive they have been.

This will be an interesting game from the perspective that it will give us an indication as to how Ole operates in terms of tactical adjustments and his ability to react to previous encounters. The Wolves game was very recent, and therefore, we'll know a bit more about Ole (and the coaching staff) the tactical mind.

Assuming we draw at best to City, theres only really room for 1 game to slip up in after that. Looking at our fixtures, Wolves and Everton are the 2 trickiest (though theres Chelsea as well), so if we can get a win here it would be big IMO and give us room for 1 of those games to be a draw. Slim margins though.

Agreed with all this. Win against Wolves would be huge thing. And that is why i am still angry on those ref clowns in Chelsea game.
Anyway my hope is that Wolves will rest some players for FA cup.

True. My expectation of him is to make the right choice in order to make us win. His comments about United having to attack first and foremost is exiting, but I'm a bit afraid he might get too caught up in the pressure of the "we need to dominate" or "we need possession football". I mean, of course we do want it, but 3 points before anything and after Ole came in his strengths and key to get the most out of the squad was to worry about attacking with intent and defending with numbers. It worked with this squad and winning comes before everything at United.

Last game against Wolves, the approach should have been exactly like that because it would put it on Wolves to create something and our advantage would be to press and counter attack. By focusing on our own strengths we would also take a bit of the routine out of their working approach. Which is what I hope we do this time around.

It's not even with Chelsea tbf. Did the predictor a few times, I think Chelsea will drop off a bit. But always have United/Spurs/Arsenal finishing on 78/77/76 points (all 3 teams getting any of those 3 totals). Chelsea on 74 I think. Funnily enough it could come down to how everyone does against Everton (United and Arsenal away, Spurs at home). Wolves (United and arsenal both go away) as well.

We know Matic and Herrera will start so let's not debate that.

Lingard false 9 and split Rashford and Lukaku. Try to exploit the space in behind their wingbacks, and pull the 2 wider CBs out. For their to be space behind Johnny and Doherty, we need to draw them out. Give them the ball, let them build a bit, try to win it back in our third quickly and incisively. That's why I'd play McTominay.

Get Lingard to man mark Neves. He has the legs, hopefully he has the application. Neves never goes ahead of the ball anyway. Get Herrera to mark Moutinho. We play counter attacking and PSG and Wolves nullified it by man marking our only creative forward passer. Let's do the same to theirs. Put Pogba and Lingard around Neves instead of Neves around Pogba.

Most importantly, start with some fire. I reckon Jimenez and Doherty come into the team (they were rested at weekend) and they'll rest Jota and Jonny. Those 4 are hugely important to their game plan. As are Neves and Moutinho. Hopefully they rest one of them too, due to the semi final.

I'm excited to see how Ole reacts to one of our worst performances under him, with such a quick turnaround.

Huge game this, a win here and I'd be very confident of making top 4.

Wolves are huge game raisers. Look at their record against the top 6, and then look at how they lost home and away to fecking Huddersfield.

So it'll be a real struggle, hopefully they rest players for their semi final.

It's always overly optimistic. I can't see it being different to the cup game myself.

We need and should win this game. Need to attack them from the start and put more bodies in the box. Wolves will play the 5-3-2 and will get deep if we push them back.

For us to hope they will expose the defense by not playing on the counter would be stupid. When they get the ball they can pass it around really well too so we need to press them hard to get it back.

We absolutely must must win. Go to 3rd and put the pressure back to Arsenal and Spurs. Both teams could feck up- spurs on the first game of the new stadium and arsenal away to Everton this weekend.

You are probably right, but still, I think it can be debated. Ole likes to give the fridge players matches, and there are two players who may feel a bit disappointed if completely being left outside. Both Fred and McTominay were playing better every match, while Matic and Herrera have been so so after they came back from injury. Maybe this is game Fred has been knowing for a while that he´ll be playing. Or maybe both.

Could Ole go 3-5-2? Then Dalot could also be considered.

Wolves might have their focus towards the weekend. Yes they are professionals and shouldn't let it affect them but no doubt many of them are dreaming about a cup win about now and what that to happen more than anything and that might work in our favor.

That's actually a good point. And their league position is relatively secure. Shame it's not the other way around for us.

Also "easier" to win 2 games then keep up the streak and hope to secure 7th if Europa League is the goal.
Absolutely. Having just been promoted you'd expect the cup to be a much bigger allure than Europa League. Maybe that's silly of me - I'm thinking football not money windfall

This has to be one of the most annoying phrases I read on here. Last time I looked they've also won or drawn v Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man. City this season. Also beat Liverpool (b) in the cup.

They're saving points off Liverpool in the league for the final day.;)
Totally agree.Do people expect the opposition not to try against us or something.Wolves have been good all season.

They were just beaten 0-2 by Burnley. If we can't beat these jammy fecks, we don't belong in the top 4 this year. 3-0 United. Come on you Reds!

Very tough game and one we must win. if we were playing well I'd be more confident but struggling to think of the last time we put in a convincing performance in the league. Just remembered, it was Fulham.

Think we will lose this one.

They were far better than us last time. Had a better plan, a better organization, more fit players.

We are not playing well, we have fitness issues (Martial, Matic, Rashford) and mental issues in this team (Pogba, Herrera, De Gea) so it’s really not a good situation.

Issue last time was that Wolves passed too easily our midfield and reached too quickly their forward. Their midfield had too many space in midfield (strangely like Watford), so I hope that we will play a bit higher and try to get them.

It will be difficult to get them on counter with only Rashford and headless chicken Martial running on his own.

I am afraid that Ole will be playing again is diamond with Lingard as a 10/false striker….

I think that Lukaku might be needed there to have target and get people running next to him, but I don’t really know how our players in their current state can hurt them.

Just hope that PSG and Madrid next midfielders will be good tonight
