We have our third chance in as many weeks to go 5th with a win. Are we ever going to take advantage of the other teams around us losing all the time or are we just gonna keep fecking up?

Chelsea drop points again.. we could've been ahead of them if we didn't mess up against Everton and WH, specially if we win against Wolves. But doubt it, this squad and manager and seizing opportunities like these are like kryptonite.

But surely we should have more Saturday games?

Yes and no. Depends on the fixtures. The TV slots are fixed when they sell off the TV rights packages as far as I know so someone has to play this Monday. They'd have already pencilled a game in for then.

Can't be Villa v Arsenal, Bournemouth v Chelsea, City v Sunderland, Newcastle v Burnley, Spurs v Brentford or Leeds v Liverpool as they're all invloving one team playing in the CL on Tue/Wed.

They probably don't want to ask Forest or Palace to play Monday either as they're in Europe on the Thursday as well as Villa who already can't play then as Arsenal aren't available on Monday anyway.

If we'd have been due to play a CL team this weekend then I'm sure it would have been today (all CL teams did play today) or a smaller chance of tomorrow if playing a CL team with a Wednesday fixture. As we're not then we're the easy ones to move to Monday.

Probably also why we were on Thursday this week against West Ham, working back from the same point when everyone else was on Tuesday/Wednesday. They knew they were going show someone then, can't really be anyone in the CL as playing Thursday means they would want their next league game on Sunday at the earliest which it can't be if they've got CL on Tuesday and it's not ideal for Wednesday CL either. Us v West Ham the natural choice taking it all into account.

Edit: It's after a European midweek where you might us expect us to play more often on a Saturday with us not qualifying, but again it's down to those fixtures. Can't if due to play someone who was in Europe on the Thursday which was the case against Palace, not ideal for our potential opponents if they were in Europe on Wednesday either, especially if it was a European away for them. They got rid of the 12:30 kick off on a Saturday for teams playing in Europe on a Wednesday so if we were playing one of them and they wanted to televise it, it can be Saturday night or Sunday/Monday only.

Next week v Bournemouth could have been Saturday I suppose (It's Monday again), but then some teams (Chelsea, City, Brentford, Newcastle & Fulham) have Carabao next midweek so they or their opponents can't be in that slot on the Monday in the league. Palace in Europa again that Thursday so it can't be them/their opponents either.

We were also leading vs Forest and Spurs.

Our squad doesn't have the mentality to fight for top 4.

Actually forgot about that, think my brain unconsciously just removes any memory of this season so far .

    Definitely have to win this.
If not then Amorim has to go.

Gilt edged chance to win 3 points against a team that can't seem to buy a point this season. Surely we won't mess this up... right?

About 10 teams are going to be jojoing up and down the table every matchweek, with only Arsenal seeming to be stable in their position.

But United need to forget about the table all together and just play with some expression, it's forever doom and gloom.

United are better than Wolves, go and show it!

This is a must win just based on the opponent but further emphasized by the results so far this weekend.

Wolves will probably finally get a win. Some of their performances have deserved more this season. Just hope we’re up for it

Its hard to believe utd go 5th with a win. On Monday this league is wide open and all those dropped points utd could have been 2nd or 3rd.

A phrase I keep getting in my head lately is "what bunch of losers". A team with some cajones should be level with villa.

This feels like last chance saloon for Amorim. Win and go 5th, lose (to the worst PL team ever) and we are 12th.

I don't think there's any coming back from a loss.

6th if Palace win tomorrow. And will likely be 7th unless you win by a few goals if Brighton beat West Ham at home.

Seems when Man. United drop into the bottom half this season you always win straight away to climb to 7th-8th so same again I suspect and a narrow win.

We're going to find a way to cock this up... Chelsea and Liverpool results going our way. Playing the bottom side. But you just know we'll mess up, we'll bottle it. Wolves will be up for this, they'll think they can get a result.

This is a very dangerous game for Amorim. A Brentford style disaster class where we look shambolic and ship 3 goals, and I don't think he survives.

I don't think that will happen, only because I don't think Wolves are good enough to do that (tempting fate I know).

But it could be an Everton style defeat, where we have most of the possession but are absolutely clueless about breaking Wolves down, and they score a goal on the break or a set piece. That could be the end of Amorim also.

My gut is that it will be an uninspiring 1-0 or maybe 2-0 win. Enough to keep the wolves from the door perhaps (no pun intended!) but one of those wins that doesn't leave you excited or optimistic for the future.

But after the mess ups against Everton and West Ham, we'll take any type of win on Monday.

Now that all the stars have aligned for us to climb the table I have resigned myself to watch us feck it all up again!

We all know what happens here since we have the chance to yet again close the gap on top 4.

The Liverpool we all laugh at is above us in the table so we better win against the worst team in the league who literally has TWO points out of a possible 42. Win or sack Amorim.

Another struggle against a low block would be my guess. Something tells me we're going to have to rely on a set piece or a deflection to have a chance at winning this.

Yep I think it was early February and we still hadn’t lost a game, and they might even have been 20th. We were winning early on as well. Terrible result. Hopefully this season they are genuinely just terrible and we can beat them.
Yeah Nani gave us an early lead

This Wolves side is possibly the worst team I have seen in the Premier League. Even a draw should be counted as loss. They are that bad.

But with this coach, nothing is ever easy, so I'm expecting Wolves to look like a top half team.

Yeah, we can actually go 5th if results go our way today. Even if they don't, we'll move a fair bit up the table. So we will obviously make it really hard work, and only get a win through a bit of luck.

Confidence isn’t growing, it needs to.

It just does not help the abuse the press give us. Keano stated us when we drew with West Ham, this is when Chelsea just lost and look rubbish and when everyone is dropping points. The league is hard and it’s not easy to go from 15th to 4th. Our fans are secretly demanding 4th and some are actually demanding a title race. Win against Wolves and we are doing ok.

Back 5 against the bottom team, 4 defensive subs will be made.
Doesn't matter if we lose, the senior management will back him.
    It's like a horrible dream.
You’ve summed up my despondency this season perfectly.

We shouldn't have much problems IF we, at the very least, match their effort. Simple as that. High intensity, win the second ball etc, just basic stuff.

    2-0 Wolves.

I see WH are playing again today. If that was us, we would have been moaning about fixture congestion.
So in effect Amorim will have had an extra day to work with the squad.
But Wolverhampton should be fighting for PL survival.
And even if they only have 2 points, they could still be difficult.
We should be able to beat them though.

There have to be some serious questions of Amorim if this isn't 3 points.

This is a massive banana skin and I find I'm being conditioned into worrying more about these types of games than playing the likes of Arsenal or City. Expecting a painful watch, hope I'm proven wrong.

Should be a win on paper for us but Wolves are probably due something. Monday night away from home and United coming to town can surely get the crowd ramped up. If they put us under some physical pressure we'll concede.

We can make Grimsby look fantastic so a 2 point Wolves is nothing.

I'd like to see Mainoo start, with Bruno pushed further forward for this game. I'm not sure we'll get much on the counter attack, so will be good to have Bruno in a position where he can pick a few locks, and Mainoo also providing the option to break lines.
