  1. Michael Olise

And I already said in the original post you quoted we should sign a winger too. Just not for £60m, or whatever Olise would cost.
  2. Michael Olise

It needs strengthening but it's all relative. We need a winger but not as much as we need CBs, midfielders or even a striker. This is the problem when you aren't proactive in your squad building, you encounter situations where you have to pick and choose because there's too much to do in one...
  3. Michael Olise

He's a decent player but I'm not sure how much he raises the standard for the level of outlay required. Amad and Garnacho are both capable players playing in the same position. I'd rather we looked at a cheaper alternative, or possibly a left winger instead. The bulk of our resources should go...

They may be one and the same
  5. Who replaces Ten Hag?

Ten Hag's United side have conceded 71 in 44 this season, that's a worse average than his Genoa or Bologna teams, with far better personnel available to him. Win rates are also skewed by the clubs you're working for. Those percentages aren't surprising for a coach who has been restricted to...
  6. Alejandro Garnacho | 2023/24 Performances

Yes and it wouldn't be outrageous at all to suggest he could start ahead of those Arsenal or City players. Garnacho is a good player.
  7. Alejandro Garnacho | 2023/24 Performances

He clearly would. Their starting teams might be a different discussion but even that isn't cut and dry for all of them.
  8. Milos Kerkez

It had the feeling of that Brighton game a couple of seasons ago where we made Cucurella look great. Kerkez may well be a decent player but I wouldn't want to read too much into it on the evidence of that one game
  9. Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

They were deserved penalties but they were both the result of two bits of good individual play from Garnacho. We didn't really play well enough to win that game on the evidence of the 90 minutes, and we haven't done for any of the other games that have happened in the last couple of months either.
  10. Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

I think it just goes to show how accustomed I've become to that kind of football when a result and performance like that doesn't even register with me anymore. Zombie football
  11. Who replaces Ten Hag?

:D Some of the justifications for not bringing someone in are pretty comical when you consider what the current guy brings to the table.
  12. Jason Wilcox - New technical director

Not sure it really works that way. I think the idea with someone like Ashworth is that it forms part of a longer-term strategy, so you wouldn't necessarily reap the rewards straight away even if he did come in ahead of this transfer window. We need to re-shape our entire recruitment process...
  13. Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Hopefully he's not staying at all
  14. Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Ten Hag signed a 3 year contract with an option for a 4th, why would anyone be looking at extending it? He'd be extremely fortunate if he gets the opportunity to start the 3rd year of that contract.
  15. Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

You can't do it in the Premier League. You might be able to get away with it in a league where one team has far more resource than the rest but not where the competition is more even. That clip of Gullit is from the 2018/19 season. That season they conceded over 10 shots in 4 of 6 group games...
