  • The question I have is, why do we need a 'proper' number 9? Rashford, Martial and Greenwood have hit 60 + goals this season. Why change that dynamic in favour bringing in a player like Kane, and banking on him hitting 30 goals a season for us and...
  • I won't vote because I feel both are equally important. Look at Liverpool. Allison, van Dijk and Fabinho were the three signings that took them to the next level. Now we're not gonna replace De Gea this window, and as patchy as De Gea has been...
  • I feel this is happening less and less though. Both Martial and Rashford have contributed in more phases of play this season imo, with Martial especially improving his work rate, pressing, running the channels and runs in behind, his hold up play...
  • I think he'll become a valuable squad player for us, much like O'Shea or a Phil Neville. His ability to play either flank is useful too. It's good to have academy players for your squad roles, saves money for key transfers and generally academy...
  • To be fair, I think the narrative is more Martial isn't a world class no.9, in the same bracket as Kane, Aguero, Lewandowski etc. Fair enough, he's not, but its lazy to suggest that because he's not world class, then we should be looking to bring...

I think you have to discuss it context of the opposition. LASK are pretty poor, so I think we should be seeing more from TFM on the ball. Mata set up both of our goals and knitted together pretty much every good bit of play we had going forward...
  • Really bad tonight. Chong looked much brighter when he came on, granted he had a lot of space. Looks like Dan James will need to really dig deep and prove his worth this season or we'll likely look to sell him.

James and were TFM terrible, Lingard was poor as well. Good from Fred and Mata, and a good cameo from Chong. Was a game that would be difficult to get yourself up for given the scoreline and the conditions, but was the kind of game I was expecting.
  • I think we'll be closer by virtue of a bit of both, we'll improve and hopefully reach the mid 80 mark in terms of points, and hopefully there will be an easing off from the ridiculously high standards City and Liverpool have been setting. Still...
  • But can we still give manager of the year to Super Frank and his band of kids? No sympathy for them after all the nonsense after the semi final. Fair play to Arsenal, would have given them no chance after the semi final draw.
  • Yeah he's better than Jones, but Jones has been sat in the stand for majority of the season and will be sold if we find a suitable buyer. Smalling should follow him. Nothing against Smalling, but I think shipping him out is a sign of us as club...
  • Each to their own, but I find it hard to believe that anyone looking back on our season could sit there and think "If only we had Smalling". Good player, but not a difference maker. We lost/drew games because we were unable to control the game...
  • I think the form we're seeing from both of them now is down to maturity as both players and people. We wouldn't have seen this level of consistency from either player even under a different manager I don't think. Maybe Martial, but Rashford's...
  • We seem to be dead set on playing from the back, so that just instantly rules out Smalling. As you said, he didn't exactly do anything 'wrong', but he's just not a good enough footballer to play in a possession based team that require more from...
  • Looks like Roma are keen to hold onto him, so I'd 100% sell. If we get around the 15-20m mark for him that would be great business. He's a good defender but just so bad with the ball its actually quite shocking. In reality, we haven't missed...
