As much as I loved yesterday's result, getting one over on the dippers always feels good. But a large part of me is hacked off. WHY can't we put that effort in every week, instead of the strolling around the pitch not putting in the challenges.
Or rather the lack of it. We give away possession so much and often so cheaply Which consequently puts us under pressure, leaving us to play most of the game in defensive mode. And let's be honest, we don't have the best defensive set up.
What's the idea of just strolling around the park when out of possession. We are quite happy to trot alongside an opposition player while he has the the ball, allowing him plenty of time to select the pass of his choice. There does not seem to be any urgency or aggression in our defending...
We need to learn how to keep possession from a throw in. 95% of today's throws, resulted in lost possession. Has been a season long problem. Happy with a draw today, you just know Liverpool were giving it their all and failed. Happy days.
While it may not have been De Gea's fault, but the goal against Southampton could have been handled a lot better by him. The punch out was poor and he was static on his line for the cross in.
