Could have done better for the second goal, seen them saved. He has issues with deflections though. Deflections make it more difficult, but it does not mean it is unsaveable all the time. With a better reaction, he saves that one today.

classic case of a footballer having a great season or two in a great system. He was nothing special. The only players from that team worth 2 cents were FDJ and De Ligt. And even they struggled in a top team at times. VdB was always going to end up a dud.

He just needed to adjust to the PL. He was already standing out at Atletico so much. It was kind of obvious he would thrive under Pep, just needed a year to get up to speed. His abilities were never in doubt, even if people slag off players regularly in their first year on here.
