  1. Rodri | Man City player

There's no straightforward answer to dealing with City but equally do you want to let Rodri do whatever he wants? Which is what happened last night. It's not like the current approach is working. Everybody gets dominated by them.
  2. Rodri | Man City player

I can't really remember it like that but you'll know better than me. But yeah, why not make City go to plan B. Especially if you can surprise a team with it. As opposed to giving Pep exactly the game he wants. I know you lost last night but before the game I think you'd take how the game...
  3. Rodri | Man City player

Luck and a good low block got Madrid through the tie. You don't have to lose that by man marking Rodri. Who was again City's best player. I see this as a problem with todays football. Managers and fans welded to a particular style. The belief that any slight change makes everything collapse.
  4. Rodri | Man City player

Sure I agree its no guarantee of stopping City because of ability in other positions. But if you don't man mark Rodri, Silva and De Bruyne still get loads of the ball. But it has to be worth a go. He is the guy who dictates everything. 140 passes last night I read and barely a Madrid player...
  5. Rodri | Man City player

It's gone out of the game as a tactic but just man mark him. Put an athletic player on him all game. He's so clearly the main man for City. Both on stats and the eye test. Shut him down and let's see how that affects City.
  6. Hala Madrid!

They couldn't string three passes together but who cares.
  7. Is Pep the greatest manager of all time?

At Pep's current age Fergie was only just getting his first chance at Champions League football. When doing comparisons the massive difference in their career paths has to factored in.
  8. Ivan Toney Pt.2

If you want to replace Hojulnd that's fair enough. That's different from the conversation taking place, which is about a rotation option. But if you guys want guaranteed goals, think Hojulnd isn't upto it, I'm not sure Toney is the answer there either. 28 and hasn't kicked a ball in Europe.
  9. Ivan Toney Pt.2

Most top teams don't have two outright No.9's. They definitely don't have two expensive No.9's. With one primarily sat on the bench. They have more than option, somebody who can fill in, but that's a different thing.
  10. Ivan Toney Pt.2

It's not so much I'm concerned, I'm talking realistically what the club will or can do. I can't see them knowingly create a situation of having a £60 million pound No.9 on the bench. Like I said, nobody does this. We definitely shouldn't given how much repair work is needed through the squad...
  11. Ivan Toney Pt.2

That's when we played with two strikers though. So each position had one backup. And the backups cost peanuts.
  12. Ivan Toney Pt.2

There's no debate about us needing two striker options. Definitely. But we haven't spent big money on a No.9 one summer to spend big money on a number 9 again the following summer. Nobody does this and a club that needs six new players definitely shouldn't. City's backup striker cost £17...
  13. Ivan Toney Pt.2

If you can name the clubs with two strikers above £50/60 million go for it. But yeah I suppose it could be my loser mentality.
  14. Marcus Rashford | 2023/24 Performances

Not comparable correct but you did compare them in Giggs and Beckham. There's no denying that's a good number of goals but we also know they came in a 2 month spurt halfway into the season. We also know outside of goals Rashford gives you very little. So he has to be hitting those numbers...
  15. Marcus Rashford | 2023/24 Performances

He's not a winger like the guys you've compared him to. Their primary function was to feed the two strikers on the pitch. Very different from Rashford's role.
