  1. Why don’t we scout Sao Paulo and other Brazilian clubs instead of overpaying feeder clubs?

I thought UK clubs are at a massive disadvantage compared to some continental European clubs due to the UK work visa restrictions?
  2. Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

Envy, perhaps, from seeing a former player turned manager enjoy some degree of success when our OGS experiment ended in his firing.
  3. Is the United Way an actual style of football or emotional romanticising of previous eras?

To most fans and to the marketers - that is, those who came to know the club with the success under SAF - it is a romanticism sprung from our success in the '90s/'00s that has devolved into the idea that United is destined for greatness and that we will somehow pull out a last minute winner out...
  4. Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

Sounds like it. Having a voice but not being in charge. I guess to Rangnick, the chances of having more of a say is worth the risk of leaving Lokomotiv.
  5. The players deserve more credit

We have one of the most talented squads in Europe. The players' quality is not matched by the coaching staff's. Its that simple to me. Imagine buying a car with a great engine and rubbish chasis that falls apart when the engine just begins to perform.
  6. Erik ten Hag - Ajax Manager

What if he prefers City though. A well drilled squad with Pep's training, a stable ownership that prizes prestige over profits, and ironically enough - more respect for the sport than the accountants running our club to the ground.
  7. Chelsea appoint Thomas Tuchel

He has a reputation for tactical flexibility, doesn't he? Not as ideologically driven as some of the other top managers perhaps but still very effective, if not more so. I wonder how he or his coaching staff drill this Chelsea team. They seem to be playing with great discipline and individual flair.
  8. Chelsea appoint Thomas Tuchel

Ah, sounds like he had the right idea at Dortmund about challenging Bayern but went about arguing with the board in the open. PSG ... well, that's a tough spot for any manager who doesn't bring home Big Ears. I agree that Chelsea now is the perfect squad for him. Wonder if his public spats...
  9. Chelsea appoint Thomas Tuchel

I wonder - Given how successful Tuchel has been at Chelsea so far, what went wrong (if anything did!) for him at Dortmund and PSG? He did very well at Dortmund overall but only lasted 2 seasons. Has he developed his managerial/coaching skills in the meantime? Was the PSG squad not to his liking?
  10. Post match vs Villarreal

Individual quality plus a sense of urgency could get better teams over the hump in one-off ties like this. But over the course of a season, against opponents that are just as talented but far better coached? We saw what happened when we played Pool and City.
  11. Not enough has been said about the players part in all this mess

I agree. These are some of the best players in the world, and it appears they are being coached by a pair of newcomers with almost no professional, top-tier experience in their jobs. Compare our coaching/managerial standards to what our rivals have and it is clear that we are a step behind.
  12. Woodward set to stay on as Executive Vice Chairman

He was never leaving - that announcement was just a PR exercise to quell public anger after the ESL fiasco.
  13. Conte | Spurs Manager

Yeah, I think the board prizes a "team player" above all. They have hired managers that are arguably world class but who have not delivered the Premiership - the Mourinho experience must have scarred the board badly enough that they are willing to forego the benefits of hiring a truly world...
  14. The McCariickenna Conundrum ft Micky Phelans (and all current coach discussions)

Well, it seems for now that there is no contingency plan as the board had wanted to keep OGS and his staff for the whole season. Now that OGS is gone and the club is still securing an interim manager, we are forced to stick with the coaching staff as is. Its OK for a couple of games, in my view...
  15. Next permanent manager | Poll updated

A modern coaching staff is a must for whoever comes in. You can have the best manager in the world and his hands would still be tied if he has to work with the United old boys.
