  1. SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness or memes please)

I think it is accelerating trends that were already prominent (the decline of high street shopping, the switch to working from home, generational inequality) but I don’t see any major new long- term impacts at this stage. After all, given the low mortality rates, you would not expect it to have...
  2. Film The Redcafe Movie review thread

The Courier: a reasonably entertaining Cold War drama set in the lead up to the Cuban missile crisis with a strong performance by Cumberbatch. The framing is more theatrical than cinematic (the director comes from theatre) and, after reading up on the real case, it seems the film should have...
  3. This is progress!

Let’s see. If we can solve that issue then I don’t see why a title challenge is out of the question, particularly with VVD crocked. We looked genuinely like a top side last night.
  4. This is progress!

Fully agree and Rio and Fletcher were saying the same thing on BT last night. If Ole can take that step, then fantastic.
  5. Westminster Politics

Blair’s biggest (domestic) mistake was not pushing through PR. Presumably he thought his first two big majorities indicated some kind of paradigm shift rather than being an outlier. Under FPTP, the Tories seem impregnable in England. Labour can pile up votes by the thousand in the cities but it...
  6. Would you sack or keep Ole? (Poll reopened)

Maguire may not even be the best defender in our team to be honest! Of course expenditure does not always equal actual value (and I acknowledge Ole inherited many of these big money buys) but comparing United and Spurs is apples and oranges. Anyway, as I am not a Poch fanatic unlike some on...
  7. Would you sack or keep Ole? (Poll reopened)

I didn’t even mention Poch. I think he’s in the good but not great category. Before dismissing him, though, for not winning trophies at Spurs under Levy, you may want you calculate the amount spent on that United team out there tonight, even without Maguire. It is basically more than any other...
  8. Would you sack or keep Ole? (Poll reopened)

Enjoy the win! I did too believe it or not
  9. Would you sack or keep Ole? (Poll reopened)

Stop being facetious - It can also take years on a road to nowhere. Ole has never built a title winning side, or even been competitive, in a league which counts for anything. He’s an unknown quantity, unlike the Fergie and Klopp examples which get cited ad nauseam.
  10. Axel Tuanzebe | 2020/21 Performances

Hugely impressed with him tonight. Just need to get him out on the pitch more often.
  11. Would you sack or keep Ole? (Poll reopened)

Very good performance tonight, possibly our best European performance since Fergie. Although, to keep it in perspective, we should remember that we were able to bring nearly 150m of midfielders off the bench - this was not David v Goliath. We have some tough fixtures coming up but, if I am...
  12. Paris St Germain vs Manchester United

Good debut by Telles. This is going to be a long 25 minutes.
  13. Paris St Germain vs Manchester United

Very good, disciplined away performance so far.
  14. Paris St Germain vs Manchester United

I’ve been watching some of the Eddie Van Halen tributes recently and that zebra kit looks very 1980s big hair rock. Should pair it with pink spandex trousers.
  15. Would you sack or keep Ole? (Poll reopened)

I agree there are major structural issues at United but the Klopp comparison is disingenuous. He built one of the best sides in Europe at BVB Dortmund, winning two German titles and getting to a Champions League final. Ole’s CV is competing in Norway (League 2 equivalent?) and struggling in both...
